My disdain for cable finally drove me to free my elderly P's from it's iron grip and this antenna was the ideal solution. He now has 12 free channels, cut his cable and cut his bill by 70 bucks. He's tickled. Things you should know if you are planning to cut to cord and use an antenna: terrain matters, as does location, and even the materials a house is made of, among other things. Fear not though; my recommendation is to visit TVFool online and check signals for your address, based on the lowest height first (8-15 ft). It will return color-coded results. Green for easy-to-get signals, yellow for moderate, and red for difficult. If most channels are in the green, this antenna may work well for you too. If you get more yellow and red, you may need to mount high on a wall if yo have room or even go as high as the second floor or attic. Even if you get mostly green on the site, buy local in case you still need an upgrade due to other factors. Also of note: digital tech allowed for major networks to have sub-channels, but TVFool will show only the main network. For example, in his area, dad gets local NBC plus 2 sub channels with syndicated TV and movies that he didn't get with crummy basic cable. In other words the TVFool check looked like 4 channels, but it turned into 12 once we plugged the antenna in. TVFool will also let you know if you need both UHF and VHF reception in your area, which this antenna handles and handles well. Last but not least, if you're like me and really far (over 50 mi) and need a second floor indoor, you can call an electrician to hide the coax in a wall quickly and easily if you don;t want to fuss with it. I recommend Mohu Sky in scenarios like mine. Good luck and enjoy your free channels, with a better-than-cable picture!

I have to write something about this INSIGNIA Indoor HDTV Antenna , because from the very first time I used it , it worked great. Installation was a breeze , just connect it at the Coaxial outlet , extend the Antennas to where you believe it can catch the waves of any stations that are around your area. Suggestion , place the Antenna close to the window , set it on high always , then let your HDTV SCAN for Channels. It will take a while but the results will surprise you in a positive way. By the way, if the Cables of the Antenna is too short to reach your window area , you should get an extension. I got the 25' for $ 3 at a .99 Cents Store , also get the " Double Female Connectors " , I got it for $1.20 . Make sure you Scan the Channels again or each time you move the location of the Antenna. Now I can view my local channels and more in HD that I don't have to get Cable.

This antenna worked better than the $65 Terk antenna I bought- even better that I got it on sale for $15! I was skeptical about the rabbit ears and because of them I could not attach it the the tv I wanted located in the built in wall unit. As fate would have it I got an idea... When I cancelled my satellite service they never removed the dish or the cables from my roof or attic. I located where the cables from the dish came into the attic and disconnected the connector that distributed the signal to the 3 tvs downstairs. I used a 3 way cable splitter and connected it to this antenna in the attic and get perfect reception in 3 rooms in my house through the cable jacks in my house. I cannot believe it works- I get every digitally broadcast channel in my area! Save your money on those expensive antennas- this is all you need. And with the extra knob to fine tune your signal it is the best deal going. The true test will come next summer to see if it will be able to handle the heat in the attic, but for the price I paid and the great reception I receive, even if I had to replace it every so often it is worth it and STILL CHEAPER THAN CABLE!

We were having repairs done to the outside of our home. This meant we had to remove our satellite dish (Directv) for a few days. We bought this antenna to use while our satellite dish was out of service. The antenna did receive several local channels but not all local channels. For us, it worked best on the channels with a higher number. We did not do anything special to the antenna such as placing it in a window or a high location. We had it sitting above the TV in our family room. The TV was located on the ground floor about 12 feet from our back window. The window faced, more or less, many local TV transmitters but the transmitters were not visible from our home. All in all, it worked okay. We had to experiment with its orientation but once set it didn't need further adjustment. As mentioned, we did receive a few channels with it. It's probably worth the price. I wouldn't view it as a long-term solution, at least not in our area.

I live within 2 miles of the San Antonio International Airport. This amazing antenna was able to tune-in 33 TV stations on one HDTV (bedroom) and 24 TV stations on a Smart HDTV (den). About 50% are Spanish-speaking stations. Most of the stations/channels were in HD, including ABC, KENS, KLRN, FOX, and WOAI. The installation was unbelievably easy and this antenna has been working flawlessly from the day it was installed. (Channels/TV stations tuned in: ABC, KENS, KLRN (4 different progrm stations), FOX, WOAI, METV, ANT, COZI, GETTV, GRIT, ONTV4U, ION, IONLIFE, ESTV, JUSTICE, KNIC, KWEX, ESCAPE, KOBS, TBN, CHURCH, JUCE, ENLACE, SOAC, QUBO, SHOP, QVC, HSN, COUNTRY, KVDF, KMYS, MUNDO, KVDA, EXITOS, LATV, ALMAVIS, SBN, MCBN, JTV, REVN, and KVDA.) You will have to move the antenna to several different locations/positions to maximize channel pickup. Placing in front of a window will improve reception.

Okay! So this is my Story! I live on a fixed income, and with the yearly increases in my rent, I could no longer afford to pay that always changing expensive cable bill, so I decided to try out antenna T V, and to my surprise, it is working out just fine!! It took me a little while to figure out how to download the antenna channels, and how to adjust this fine tuning antenna, so that I could get the most channels possible, and a clear picture!! I have two of these antennas, and I'm going to buy one more real soon!! I no longer have a cable TV bill, and I get about 160 Channels For Free!! The Antenna Cost $20 Priceless!! :-))

We do not have cable because it is a waste of money for us. We really only watch one station unless there is something specific on another station. It is well known in this area that the local nbc network is next to impossible to get on antenna. A large part of the local population lost nbc when everything went digital because they do not have a powerful digital signal. We had purchased numerous high dollar digital antennas in the past and none of them could reach the nbc signal. This antenna gets nbc clear as day and pulls in more digital stations than all of our other antennas combined. I will be buying one for every TV in the house.

    Math 101: Cutting the cord

I cut the cord from "D" TV and was looking to supplement our Roku with some local t.v. channels. Bought this on sale for $15. Works surprising well considering it is sitting right beside our 1900 router(also in the quagmire of an apartments wireless interference). We are about 25 miles from the t.v. stations broadcasting towers. The antenna worked nicely out of the box and we have not had to do anything but connect it to the t.v. Do the math, $15 divided by 12 months= $1.25 a month for the first year, free after that. Compared to $130 a month for "D" TV. I'm saving money and getting bad local weather forecast at the same time, priceless.
