Good tablet with limitations
Posted .The 8" Insignia Flex Elite The good: Screen Form factor Thin Light Zippy processor 2GB memory The bad: Speakers - do you like listening to music in a tin can? 9GB storage out of the box - has an SD card slot, but beware that you may not be able to transfer apps to it. The ugly: Battery - screen brightness at 40% gets me maybe 6 hrs (I'm being generous) if no gaming and/or watching videos. No software updates - won't even connect to server to check for any updates If you don't mind the lack of software updates and the poor battery, then this could be a good tablet for you. I, personally, can't get past it.

Great Tablet!!!
Posted .I 1st got this tablet in the summer and almost returned it because of the battery drain. After the update...Greatness! Netflix works, and battery problem is fixed. The screen resolution is excellent and it is fast. I have over 200 apps installed on this thing and no lag. I watch Showbox on it and it runs smooth. Don't get me started on the thin and lightness of this tablet. I have an Ipad Mini 4 and this is lighter. I had a love affair with Samsung for years, but the prices for their tablets are outrageous. At $150, this has the resolution and enough power to take anything you throw at at. Great for college kids and the grand kids, and older folks.

Just wow...impressive for store brand
Posted .I was looking upgrade my kids Nexus 7 2013 with a device that had expandable memory. This one fit the bill. 2K screen. Glass screen with super clarity. Plenty bright. The CPU is not a major brand cpu (used on new chromebooks) and is equivalent to the processor found in the Nexus 7 2013. It has lollipop and the OS is pretty much stock OS. I ran Geekbench and the numbers were perfect. The build quality looks high end. I highly recommend. It looks like this is on sale now. Pretty awesome.

Good Tablet for the Money
||Posted .I was looking for a low-spec tablet that had a good display, and this one meets that requirement. Many inexpensive tablets skimp on the display resolution, which makes them worthless in my opinion. This tablet has a beautiful, crisp high-resolution display. Its performance is acceptable, though you will frequently find yourself waiting on it when you switch apps. Once an app is up and loaded, its fine. Unfortunately, it is only running Android 5.0.2 after the most recent update (build 2015-09-16). Mine took this update this morning and I was honestly expecting 5.1.1 or so, not a tiny update from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2. Some of the text that you see less often was obviously written by someone who doesn't speak English as their primary language. (Really, Insignia? You couldn't find one competent English speaker to proof read?) The battery life is a bit short, but it does last a couple of hours of use, though I haven't tried playing movies. I would prefer a thicker tablet (YES, thicker. I want something I can hold onto!) with the extra space occupied by more battery.

Lags
||Posted .I like the size and build of this tablet. The screen is clear although too bright on the most dim setting at night. I noticed the battery drain issue that others reported but simply selecting the "wifi off on standby" option fixed the drain. I also have a nexus 7 (2013) with a touch screen problem. I was hoping this would be a slightly upgraded replacement from that however I'm doubting it after using this for 2 days. This tablet suffers from a lag that is very frustrating. I don't have anything on this tablet that wasn't on the older nexus and I have a very big delay that makes this tablet hard to use. I am thinking about returning it unless I hear of an update that could fix this.

Great for the price
||Posted .At thr price this is one of the better Android tablets out there. Screen is amazing. Only issues are a low battery life and it doesn't want to let non-system apps use the SD card unless the card is formatted NTFS. Still it has the closest to stock Android Lollipop outside of a Nexus, and no ridiculous bloatware.

Best bang for your buck
||Posted .This tablet exceeded my expectations in many ways. The battery power is reasonable for a smart device, the processor is fast, really my only complaint is that I am unable to move anything to my microSD card. From my research regarding the issue, I am unable to determine if it is an issue with the device itself, or the operating system that came on the device, possibly a combination of the two. Other than that, I am 100% satisfied with this tablet and would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Q: Questioncompared to the new zenpadhow does this insignia tablet compare to the new zenpad s 7.85 tablet?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The Zenpad has a weaker GPU and CPU(Intel Atom) the Rockchip 3288 outpowers it in most applications. All the other specs are the same, except for the storage which is bigger on the Zenpad(32GB vs 16GB)

Q: QuestionIs Netflix issue resolved now? From the reviews and Answers, I came to know that this tablet has issue(s) with running Netflix. Also, in the same reviews it has been mentioned by Insignia members that they have released an update and Netflix will work fine now. So, does any body know if that issue is really resolved now or not? And if I order this tablet (open box) then it will come with that updated fix or not?
Asked by Arvind.
- A:Answer After the update by Insignia, Netflix works just fine on mine, go to Settings- About Tablet and tap on Update, It should update to V01.00.10. This update fixes Netflix issue, battery drain, and the issue after update V01.00.09, notifying of update available popping up repeatedly, and a few other minor issues.

Q: QuestionHow many rows on the keyboard?Does the keyboard have a separate row of keys for numbers, or is it like the 8 inch Insignia Elite on which you have to long-press the top row of letter keys to type a number?
Asked by dmar511.
- A:Answer This is the 8" Flex elite tablet and it has the standard Android keyboard that requires you to long press certain keys to get numbers. You can, however, go into the Google Play store and download a new keyboard to use that will better fit your needs.

Q: QuestionWhat is the screen material?Ionized glass, or plastic? It includes screen protectors? (This is a bad thing--it indicates that the screen is likely easily scratched.)
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It has quality Glass but all glass is scratchable so don't think it's plastic because it comes with a screen protector that just a plus.

Q: QuestionHow is the volume level? When it's pushed to maximum is it loud or barely a whisper?I just bought and returned an ASUS MeMoPad8 and Kindle 6" because I had to strain to listen to music, movies, and audio readings. That's not right. Can someone please tell me on a scale from 1-10 if the volume level is loud? ( I have a Hisense Sero 7 that's 3 years old and I can hear it a room away, but it's age and system is out of date.)
Asked by Mjustice.
- A:Answer Sound is acceptable. If you really want good sound, use a bluetooth speaker. You should be able to try it at BestBuy in the store. That is what I did.
