I needed a way to hook my new Acer S200HQL monitor to my new MacBook Air, and this adaptor just happened to be available in the "open box" section of Best Buy for about $15. That's the thing about adaptors like this: They either work, or they don't. The only reasons to return them are: * It's straight-up broken when you get it home (in which case it won't end up on the "open box" shelf), so you have to return it. * You bought the wrong one. (i.e. You needed a VGA adaptor, and you got DVI instead.) Knowing this, I figured that there couldn't be anything wrong with the adaptor, even at the open box price. And, as expected, it worked (and continues to work) flawlessly from the moment I hooked it up. Even at full price, this would be a great purchase. At the open box price it was a steal!

The connector works fine. The staff was less than helpful. I brought in the cable I needed to use the adapter with and they guy wasn't sure but thought this one should work. He reassured me of Best Buy's return policy just in case. Nothing like instilling confidence in your customer. So I carefully opened the box to make sure it fit correctly and he lost his mind. He said if I open the box I HAVE TO purchase it even if it it is the wrong adapter because you cannot open the boxes. I kindly reminded him of their excellent return police he had just told me about. Fortunately it was the right adapter so I didn't need to return it.

Despite being one of BestBuy's "generic" brands, it works as it should and is of decent quality. Don't buy into the trap of buying the super-expensive adapters that claim to have things like gold plated metal contacts, as studies have shown that doesn't really matter much, and is a waste of money. This is decently priced and gets the job done. I've have a few of these now, and a few of their HDMI to DisplayPort/Mini DisplayPort adapters and they all work fine.

I have two different monitors that I wanted to use for my MacAir. Both had DVI-D connectors and each were 24" monitors, though each had different resolutions, with one at 1920x1200 and the other 1920x1080. So far the adapter has worked great for both with plug and play at startup of the MacAir. This adapter was cheaper than the Apple brand adapter. The adapter plugs in tightly into the computer and has screw connections with the DVI-D cable, the adapter lays flat on a table, so there is no tugging of the cable.

Not worth saving $5. Stick with Apple cable

I bought this to use with my Apple MacBook Pro which supports multiple monitors up to 30" (I think). Apple cable was about $5 more so I bought cheaper one. I plug everything and I found it only works when I set to to mirror the monitor. What I wanted to do is to use external monitor and my laptop together so I can put all the menu windows in one and actual working document in the other. I tried it with Apple cable which is the basically the same, it works perfectly. I guess you get what paid. Don't bother getting this one.

I have an 2009 OS X Serve and lost the adapter. Wanted to play again so picked this up and it worked perfectly. Since I only fired the server up for a short time and enabled VNC, I unhooked it and am now using it on my iMac to extend the display. It's advertised resolution is 1920 x 1200 but I was surprised to see that it's pushing 21:9 at 2560 x 1080, which I thought only HDMI and DisplayPort can do.

I had just purchased a used Mac Pro to replace an even older Mac Pro, but found that the video card needed adaptors to hook up my monitors. I found just what I needed at Best Buy on line and was able to arrange for the adaptors to be held for me to pick up later that day. Since they were also "open box" they were priced significantly lower than the exact same thing presumably in closed boxes. They have worked flawlessly since installing them.

Beware, This is not an "Active" adapter

I purchased this adapter to attach a third monitor to my gaming system but it would not work for my application. The adapter is not an "Active" adapter and will only work in certain cases where a passive display connection is supported. If your application requires an "Active" adapter then this solution will not work. Either way it is better to go with an active adapter to avoid this problem all together.
