GREAT starter windows tablet!
Posted .i was looking for a windows tablet for my kids. i had never used a windows tablet so i wasnt sure if it would function like a laptop or not. i asked some friends who understand technology more than myself. i was advised not to get this bc of the processor speed. i was looking at cost bc i would be purchasing 3, 1 for ea child. my kids are younger so they are not serious gamers. my main want was for school work. 2 of my children have a form of dyslexia. i also ordered accessories to go with the tablet (case w/keyboard, sd card, hdmi adapter, stylus....). with the case and keyboard this functions just like a chrome book. has made homework for my boys a breeze. no more meltdowns bc of having to do so much writing. my kids have their e-reader handy now. with the hdmi adapter they can hook their tablet up to their tv if they want to watch a movie. compact size and easy mobility. this was the best use of my money in a good while. i have recommended this to many friends.

Standby battery life could be better
||Posted .As a cheap no frills tablet this is fantastic. As soon as a bought it I upgraded to Windows 10 and also have it synced with my laptop so I can share files via the cloud. This is particularly useful for reading pdf documents (my main reason for purchasing). The screen resolution is great and although the speakers aren't great, I have a bluetooth sound bar with it pairs with easily; useful for listening to music on youtube while doing chores. The compact size also makes it great for taking into university as it isn't as bulky as my laptop. My only reason for not giving it 5/5 is that when not in use and in standby mode, the battery life seems to drain if not used for a couple of days. When in use the battery life lasts long enough to take away from home for a long day without needing to worry about bringing the charger along too. Would highly recommend to any student who wants to use it as an ereader, or someone wanting to use the Kindle app but with the flexibility of having Windows 10.

Great for kids
||Posted .This product would be great for kids and school homework and for games. It works relatively quickly. At home, though, we found out that speed decreases the further you are from your wireless modem. It works best in the same room as the modem. We bought this as a beginning tablet for various family members to experiment with. No other tablet could beat it for price and quality. While I recommend it for kids, I would recommend a larger tablet for adults--one that would be easier to read and operate with job functions (my intended use). This is the only reason why I did not give this tablet 5 stars.

great windows tablet for the price
||Posted .I was in the market to replace an Android tablet. Everything I use is Microsoft so I was very familiar with the brand and I currently use a Windows Phone. The tablet is very easy to use and very easy to set up. The battery life could be a bit better but it does not take long to charge at all. While the Windows Store doesn't have many apps, you can still download many desktop versions to the desktop portion and use it as a laptop. I only have two issues with the tablet. One is that it gets really hot while it's charging or in use for a long period of time. The other is that when using headphones, even on the highest volume, you can hardly hear anything. The built-in speakers are just fine though.

So far so good
||Posted .Originally i bought the Asus Memopad but it had horrible screen quality so I exchanged it for this nice little Insignia Tablet. I gotta say so far it works great, has full windows 8 capabilities including office. There is 2 flaws though, the speakers are HORRIBLE, (I use my bose soundlink II) and it does NOT have a usb 2.0 like advertised on the best buy website. If you can get past that, than it's a great tablet for $99.99.

Inexpensive tablet. Great for small tasks.
||Posted .I purchased this tablet because it had windows 8.1 and was under the $200 mark. It connects to wifi with no problem. The bluetooth works when I need it to. It runs programs that I use on windows 7 and other stand alone computers with no problem. The screen is very sharp and if you wear reading glasses like I do then you will certainly need them to use the tablet. The construction is just OK. Having had the premier Apple tablets for ever you can tell this is a low cost tablet. It squeaks and creaks if you put any torque on its frame. The battery life is just OK too. I've used it for a few hours at a time before draining the battery. Overall It's a decent device to get you toes wet with the windows mobile ecosystem without much money up front. Also great for projects where the hardware gets disposed of at the end of the job.

Excellent Tablet for the Price
||Posted .I will admit I was a little skeptical when I bought this tablet. It is my first Windows Tablet. I've been an Android Tablet for a very long time (Froyo days). I figured I'd try this one if it didn't meet my hopes and expectations, I'd return it. It's NEVER going back. This tablet is AWESOME. The feel is great, it doesn't feel cheap. The internal specs are on par with more expensive tablets. The display is quite nice, even outdoors. The upgrade to Windows 10 was flawless and everything works like a charm. I have but one complaint (hey...nothing's perfect) I would love a larger internal drive. Yes, I want everything at the same low price :) Very minor issue when keeping everything relative. Finally I have a tablet that allows me to work remotely! All the programs that run on my laptop now run on my tablet. Haven't touched my laptop in more than a week. With the free year of MS Office 365, the gaps have been filled. One of my gripes with the Android OS was the inability for me to get desktop publishing done using MS Publisher or websites built using my packaged software. I'm now FAR more productive!! Working whenever down-time arises allows me more freedom to spend with family. Great Tablet!! As a business consultant, I'm recommending the Insignia to my clients as a excellent entry tablet. The combo of quality, specs and price cannot be beat.

Q: QuestionWill this tablet be offered a free Windows 10 upgrade?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I contacted Insignia and asked this same question. They did not provide a direct answer. It will run Windows 10, but you will not be offered the easy upgrade directly from the tablet. You must upgrade on your own. I asked if all the required drivers would be available for this tablet, Insignia said they were not sure, that I would need to contact Microsoft directly. After further research I decided to return the tablet to Best Buy. It is a good little tablet, but I decided to re-buy the new version of this tablet when it is released with Windows 10 already installed. I did not want to find out later that not all the drivers required for Windows 10 would be available for this tablet and I would be stuck with no ability to upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 10 will be available to "eligible" hardware. Eligible is the key word. Just because it runs Windows 8.1 does not guarantee it will be guaranteed to have all the hardware drivers needed for Windows 10. According to Microsoft, the "easy" upgrade is available to those products that are fully supported. The "easy" upgrade does not appear to be available for this tablet. That was a red flag for me.

Q: QuestionDisplay blacks out during useI bought this tablet back in February 2015. After 4 months of moderate use, now my screen display goes black after about 7 minutes of use. I hard boot and display comes back on for few minutes before it happens again, It only seems to happen when I watch a video but I do not have any screen savers or display time limits in place. Thank you for any assistance anyone can offer.

- A:Answer You're best bet would be to take it into the geeksquad and have them do a diag under MFG warranty, which they should do for you, it could be related to heat, which would be easy for them to diagnose. Could be a couple other things too such as faulty memory or processor, which is why i recommend just having the geeks look at it.

- A:Answer You need a special cable. I found one on Amazon. Mini USB to Female USB. Then you can plug in any USB device that is recognized by Windows 8.
