Not that loud, but quality speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like others have said I would have liked there to be a answer button for the phone and as well a volume indicator. Other than these two items I think this is a very good quality speaker. Worth clearance price of $35. Not full price.

Good for the pool, boating or the beach
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, the 4/5 star rating I give this speaker is based on the current price of $30.99. At the regular price of $100 it would be a 3 star rating. This is a fairly large speaker and rather heavy. Probably not the speaker you want to lug around if you will be carrying it a lot. I've included a picture of this Insignia speaker next to the LG PK5 and Sony XB32, both of which are considered medium sized. The red speaker in the pic is the LG PH4, which is roughly the same size as the JBL Flip4. Positives: + Waterproof and will float if dropped in water. + Overall good bass output, with bass boost option. + Good battery life. + Has a USB input to charge external devices. + Storage compartment on left side to store small items or cable. Negatives: - Overall sound is a bit muddy and lacks clarity. - Heavy and bulky design. - Overall maximum volume not very loud relative to the speaker size. - Must use the proprietary charging cable/brick. - No indication by sound or light when at max volume. - Cannot use two or more of these speakers together to play at the same time. More regarding the size of this speaker. This Insignia is a bit larger than the JBL Extreme 2 and a bit smaller than the JBL Boombox. Both of those speakers are far more expensive, but do offer better overall sound quality. Sound wise, the Insignia lacks a bit in the mids and the upper range lacks detail and clarity. In speaker terms, this would be considered a warmer sound signature. I would recommend a good custom EQ app to tailor the sound better. Bass is good, but can be a bit muddy. I found the bass acceptable as is, but enabling the bass boost made it sound sloppy and at higher volume, distorted and over exaggerated. Overall volume level is actually a little less than the much smaller Sony XB32 I also own. This speaker's strength is for use outdoors at the pool, at the lake or ocean. With the IPX7 rating you don't have to worry about it getting wet. Indoors it's a good speaker for some applications, but I would keep it away from walls or boundaries, as that will reinforce the bass output and make it sound muddy.

Depends on the price!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, this was $100 retail I believe. I got it for $30 on sale at Best Buy. I don't know if it really floats and I don't know how Waterproof it really is. Sound? It sounds decent out of the box. Bass is deep, and even deeper with bass boost turned on. The treble is very poor though. HOWEVER.... check your music player. If you have an equalizer (EQ), adjust it and this speaker will SING! It definitely can produce the high notes, but I think it's setup to be bass heavy, so you have to make your own adjustments if you want a more balanced sound. One cool thing is the USB output that can charge your phone (it comes with a micro USB, but not USBC or iPhone cable). It's pretty big and kinda heavy. Definitely not going in your backpack without adding some weight and taking up alot of space. Also, the charger for this has a small power brick in the middle of it. It's not a USB charger cable, it's a real charger plug like laptops used to have (the barrel style), so be prepared to carry this extra charger for when it dies - you can't use your phone charger like many other portable batteries. Battery life, dunno. Moral of the story - for $100, it's pretty good but has caveats...you can probably find other speakers as good or better for that price. For $30, I don't think you'll come anywhere close to this for its sound, waterproofing, floating ability, charger port, deep bass, etc. Plus, Best Buy is pretty good at taking back Insignia products if they malfunction, something other brands can't always claim. I recommend it for the right price.

Q: QuestionWhat is the rms watts
Asked by Hockjim148.
- A:Answer I can't tell you the exact watts but if I had to guess I'd say about 40 rms, it's comparable to a compact home stereo it's really loud!! And clear!! Don't spend 300$ for those famous brand name speakers this one is the same as those minus the high price BELIEVE Me.
