I've been photographing motorcycle events for 30 years. And havee sold many photos to national magazines. My life has been spent mostly behind the lens. With the insignia remote control I can actually take a few photos with me in them. The Insignia remote control is a handy little tool every photographer needs and a good many will want. Instead of setting the camera on the timer function. You can hold this tiny unit in the palm of your hand. Not having to run around your camera mounted on tripod. Set up your shot press the button and shoot as many photos as you like. This particular unit comes with a strap and to my surprise a battery. Very easy to use. Follow the instructios to synchronize. And you're done. The 1 drawback is that you must be in front of the camera and preferably on the right side of your camera to release the shutter. Small, easy to synchronize, easy to use, and inexpensive. For the cost of the unit. Every photographer pro or hobbyist needs this handy tool.

I went to Best Buy specifically to purchase a remote for my 5D Mark II. This product works to trigger the camera. However: 1. The sales people are not able to tell you which cameras it triggers. 2. The documentation on the box and on the website says "Most Canon cameras" but does not identify the cameras work with the remote. Most importantly: There are two remote wireless trigger modes on the 5D Mark 2. One is supposed to have a short delay before triggering the shutter. No matter which mode I use, the remote triggers the shutter immediately. That means my hand holding the remote ends up in the photo. That part is slightly annoying.

I was searching for a remote control to do some self-shoots with my husband. Technically this works, but you must point the remote directly to the IR sensor of the camera, otherwise it will not be recognized. If you don't want to have the remote in all your pictures you will (depending on your camera) possibly need a firmware update or add-on to get a delay between pressing the button and the actual photo. The biggest issue I had was finding out which cameras are working with the remote control. The internet isn't helpful at all and even the QR code on the package itself leads into nowhere. I can at least tell that it works with my (old old) Canon EOS 500d. So, with some minus points still a working accessoire.

I have bought few insignia products and they have been more or less good. However, this remote is for the most part useless. The main purpose of this remote to me is to take self portrait. It doesn't wait for 2 seconds before taking picture.; so when you point your hand (with remote off course) camera instantaneously take picture with you pointing your hands towards camera. I tried to put delay in camera in every way possible but still in vain. I wish I had the receipt to return this piece of junk. Surprisingly I found later (my stupidity) that even cannon official remote come for just $2 more than this stupid plastic.

While the packaging and the Best Buy website and the manufacturers website all said that there was a list of exactly which Canon cameras were compatible with this, no one....not my husband, not me, not even the Best Buy guy.......could actually find it......anywhere. I suppose it could be inside the package but I wasn't about to open the package to find out that my Canon model wasn't compatible and then deal with trying to return it!! So I just returned it. Also, there were some reviews of it online that said it didn't work well at all if you weren't sitting right in front of the camera. Sort of defeats the purpose.

I have a Canon 4i I use for video blogging, and had been looking for a way to remote to my camera so I would not get so much camera shake when cutting on & off. Once I read over my Canon directions on setting this new device up, it worked like a charm!! Now I can remotely cut the camera on & off so I don't have to walk back to the camera or get up to stop the videoing. It's especially helpful when I make a "blooper", and can remotely stop the camera to get my thoughts together before starting again.

I had one of these before but miss placed it. It really came in handy in situations where you want to take a selfie with a DSLR and not your phone and you don't want to control the timing and don't want to use the camera's timer. Its a handy device for not a lot of money. You should test it out and get used to the way it works before you take your first picture. It isn't hard to use but it pays to practice with it. I thing the advertised range is around 16 feet but you may not be able to reach that far on a bright sunny day.

This remote was purchased for a Cannon EOS Rebel T3i. I had read some reviews which indicated this remote did not work for this camera, but I took a chance anyway, and I haven't had an issue with compatibility. Like other reviews though, it is true you must point the remote at the sensor for it to respond, which is in front of the camera. This remote will be great for self portraits etc., but I will also be looking for a wired system so photos can be taken from the side or behind the camera for scenic shots from a tri-pod etc..
