After a decade or so of faithful service, my old Insteon Hub died. This is an exact replacement (same model - I didn't see any upgraded one available). I needed to start from scratch and re-enter EVERYTHING, such as the codes for all of the controlled devices. This was a headache, especially for wired-in controllers that I needed to expose inside electrical junction boxes. But the hardware itself worked well - it's the upgrade process that is much less than desired. I was happy that Best Buy carried this item.

After 7 years the old hub died and I decided that we didn’t really need to replace it. After two weeks of running around the house and trying to turn out lights endlessly I realized how much I loved having a hub. Installing this to replace the last one was easy as pie. I even found a few features that I hadn’t used before. It’s reasonably priced, it works for close to a decade, and it makes my life simpler in ways that I don’t even notice. That’s the dream with iot. I’d recommend it to anyone regardless of the size of your home.

My first venture in to home automation connecting to Alexa. Purchased this hub as well as Insteon wall switches, dimmers, and sockets. Set-up was straightforward and everything works as advertised. I also have smart blinds, which require a separate hub - Hubitat.
