Solid and quick
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendHard drives are extremely difficult to review and often lead to either amazing ratings or pieces of junk. Simply put, usually they either work or they don't. I tried to use the included CD software to ghost the boot drive, but it failed because of a partition on my primary hard drive. The included software wouldn't let me copy just one of the partitions, so I ended up having to move the other partition's data off the drive, delete the volume, and then the CD worked like a charm. It now takes me about 12 seconds to boot 7 Ultimate and I've never had any crashes or read errors. Be careful when installing programs as default installs will fill the drive up quickly. I've seen some horror stories with Intel drives but this one has been running great! I also don't own any other SSD drives so I don't have anything to compare the speed... It's super fast though! :) I use my computer as a media server and multi-tasking while mult-streaming is flawless!

Great HDD replacement
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this SSD mainly because it was on sale. Otherwise I would not have. SSD prices are generally too high to warrant purchase. I'm glad I came in the store when I did. This drive had been great. I installed it into a late 2007 MacBook. While the capacity is quite small and I have to put most of my media onto an external drive, I am glad I got it. This plus an upgrade in RAM has breathed new life into the machine, and instead of buying a new computer I bought a new iPad. That though is a whole other review. If you're on the fence about this drive don't be. Get it and be happy you did.

Pretty Good SSD
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have a Macbook A1181, C2D 2.4GHz, RAM maxed out at 6GB... I swapped out the Seagate 500GB Momentus® XT Solid State Hybrid Drive, with this 80GB SSD. I know.. I down graded size, but gained a world of speed. Since I'm a Mac tech and geek, I was able to install this HD in about 5 minutes. After installing, I did a clean install of the GM of Lion 10.7. System boots up in a matter of mere seconds, and shut down is almost instantly. iTunes, iPhoto, Garage Band open in half the time as they did on the stock 80GB HD. What I don't like is that TRIM is not enabled...... not yet at least... maybe some tweaking will do the trick.

Great drive - once you get it installed
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOK - first - let me state that the first drive died on me 24 hours after I installed it - BUT Best Buy replaced it with no issue - so that made it a little less painful. Installation was not as straight forward as I had hoped - I put this my 13" Macbook Pro - the software that comes with the drive does not support mac - and I could not get the disk utility in Mac to verify the image (possibly a result of the first drive being defective). On the second drive - I opted to install the OS from scratch and restore my files from backup - which actually worked nicely just more time than I would have liked to spend. The drive's performance is awesome! My Mac boots in approx 12 seconds - all applications start and run very quickly - even when running multiple apps - I would definitely recommend this upgrade for someone who has the skills and time - if you are not comfortable with rebuilding a system then I would recommend having someone else install the drive for you.

Buy this before you change laptops
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendMy 4 year old business laptop was getting slower to the pint that I seriously considered buying a new one. However, my computer geek son advised me to change my standard 7200 rpm conventional hard drive with this solid state one. Wow! It's like I have a new computer. Programs load instantly and documents open very quickly. It was easy to install and transfer all of my data onto it. This upgrade gave my laptop new life--it may last another 4 years!

Just Right and Super Fast For an Intel Core Chips
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWow I'm highly satisfied with this intel ssd drive booting up my Samsung R580-JBB2 Core i3 in a matter of seconds with no freeze up or lagging while performing a file search. So F-n Great! So Far Every dollar spent on this drive was well worth it, but still price to high for todays average customer paying bills each month and little to spend here and there on electronic Gadgets. F-n Sucks! But over all This Drive is definitely worth checking out people.

Good alternative to spin HD's
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendBought an Intel 120 SSD first for my new build. After getting everything set up, I bought a second Intel SSD, the 80, for a storage & swap file drive. Was a little concerned about the firmware problem Intel was having, but bought them anyhow. Intel has a great program, "Toolbox", that checks the firmware version & installs a new version if available. Both of the HD's I bought had the latest version, so I had no problem. HD's are working great so far & seem to be really fast, really notice that on boot-up. Am very happy with them to this point.

Screaming Fast
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this drive to install in my early 2008 Macbook Pro. Since this model MBP cannot support the higher end 6.0 gb/sec SATA III drives, i chose this one for price - performance to get some more life out of the older machine. It runs almost like a brand new machine, everything open instantly, indexing takes only 15 minutes compared to over an hour before, installation of things like CS 5.5 takes only a few minutes compared to an hour or so before. SSD as of now is the single best upgrade you can make to ANY computer system. Older 5400 and 7200 RPM drives are bottlenecks when it comes to current and even older technology. If you're on the fence about SSD, get off it and get an SSD. For around $1 per GB now you cannot beat the performance gains.
