Good CPU
|Posted .Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I have had this processor for a little over a year and a half. I paired this with a GTX 1660 and I can still play triple A titles around 120 FPS or more. I’ve never experienced thermal throttling 100% use. There is obviously better choices out there now but this is a solid CPU.

Budget-friendly beast
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSix cores of delicious butt-kickery delivering 2.8 GHz across each core that turbos up to 4 GHz. Insane performance for its price, vast improvement over the previous generation, and by far one of the best values for a CPU you can find -- that is, until Cascade Lake is released.

Great speed for the money!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis CPU went into a new computer build for my wife. Up to now, she purchased prebuilt computers from the big name companies and was always disappointed with their performance. I have always built my own along with my sons high performance gaming computers. I said, let me build you a computer! For her, the I 5 intel 6 core was the best choice along with a SSD HD and a Asus motherboard and she could not be happier!

Q: Questionis this compatible with an am3 motherboard?
Asked by mustafa.
- A:Answer The AM3 Motherboard that you are referring to is an AMD Motherboard and will not support the Intel Core i5-8400F 8th Generation Processor mentioned. You would require a Motherboard based on Intel 300 Series Chipset that supports Socket 1151. I would recommend that you check out MSI’s MPG Z390 Gaming Plus Motherboard located at Best Buy. That ATX Board has 2 advanced M.2 slots, LED Lighting and fast RAM (DDR 4) support; which the 8th Generation Intel Core Processors support and all modern platforms have already switched to.
