Scream! Factory does it again
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is no secret that, as a somewhat avid fan of 1970s-80s horror, I love Scream! Factory. They continuously give us previously unreleased classic horror flicks in glorious 1080p HD, all cleaned up and spiffy for our viewing enjoyment. Some of you may have noticed that MGM has already released this 1978 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers in the blu-ray format several years back, at a price point that's difficult to refuse. The difference here is primarily one of quality, and this version puts your fancy High Definition home theatre to better use than the original release does. As for the movie itself, if you like the idea of conformist alien pod people hatching (no pun intended) a clandestine operation to take over the earth-- then this movie may be for you. Also if you like Donald Sutherland, Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy, a very cute Brooke Adams, and a dog with a human face, purchase this film immediately!

Sci-Fi classic in 4K? Yes, please!!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sci-Fi Horror classic has NEVER looked better than it does on this disc, period. It won’t convince you it was filmed yesterday, but it shouldn’t anyhow. It should be presented in the highest quality possible from the film stock it was shot on, and thankfully, that is the case here. This is a great example of how 4K can make older films look spectacular. The audio is nice and clear, and all the extra features are ported over from recent Blu-ray releases, so you won’t be losing anything if you’re upgrading. Highly recommended!

AS Good As The Original
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is not necessary to sing the praises of the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Anyone who enjoyed that one should be pleased by the 1978 re-make. On the whole I rarely find a re-make to be near as good as the original, and usually they are unbelievably bad. This is the exception! With a good cast (Donald Sutherland and Brooke Adams) and biting social commentary (Leonard Nimoy plays a '70's style self-help guru in a hilarious turn, but played perfectly straight) this works as a semi-comedy, a social tongue-in-cheek social satire AND as a good old fashioned sci-fi/horror movie. Kevin McCarthy (who starred in the original) has a cameo as basically the same character 20 years on trying to warn of the invasion. Don Siegel (director of the original) also has a cameo as a cab driver. While it does lose some of its momentum towards the end, the ending is still one that fans talk about today. If they remember nothing else, they remember that. Definitely worth seeing. PARTICULARLY if you find it in a remainder bin or on sale as I did.

Body Snatchers!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a 1978 science fiction horror film directed by Philip Kaufman, and starring Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Veronica Cartwright, Jeff Goldblum and Leonard Nimoy. Released on December 20, 1978, it is a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), which is based on the novel The Body Snatchers by Jack Finney. The plot involves a San Francisco health inspector and his colleague who discover that humans are being replaced by alien duplicates; each is a perfect copy of the person replaced, only devoid of human emotion.

Excellent Edition
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Scream Factory serve up another fine example of what collector's are looking for in complete blu ray packages. The transfer looks stunning, preserving that fine grain of a film that's nearly 40 years old. SF ports over all special features from the previous MGM blu release, while contributing newly commissioned interviews with the cast and crew. Oh, and the movie? Gory, cheesy 70s sci-fi at its finest. Highly recommended.

Classic Remake Done Right
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I forgot how great this movie is. I see why it's a classic in it's own terms, even though is it a remake (which the original is good as well). But this film is chalked full of great performances (Donald Sutherland, Leonard Nemoy, and Jeff Goldblum) and thrilling dramatic action. Let's just hope this never actually happens in the real world cause I don't want a copy of myself being boring and not silly.
