The greatest ip man collection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got both steelbook and standard bluray on released day. Steelbook has all 3 movies ip man (2008), ip man 2 (2010) and latest ip man 3 (2015). Bluray has very nice cover art with Donnie Yen's signature wing chun style. Well scripted story. You must see the fight between Donnie and Mike. Final scene is a good lesson that you can be famous but yet humble and not to humiliate your opponent to the public! Excellent movie.

The Donnie Yen Trilogy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up the steelbook version of the trilogy and couldn't give this release more credit. For some this might be a double-dip for the first two films, but the steelbook packaging puts the IP Man films that truly matter under one roof. The cover art could be cooler though, but that's just me. The films themselves are great martial-arts films, especially for the modern day viewer. Wilson Yip directs all three of the movies and does so with wonderful grace, mixing high-octane action and historical drama without missing a beat. With most trilogies (not counting the two IP Man spin-off films) the first film is usually the strongest, with the following movies slowly declining in value, that is not the case here. The only time I felt as if things had dipped in quality or control, it mostly a gripe that was personal and is probably over-looked by most. The presence of Mike Tyson in the third film being one of them. I felt he was somewhat misplaced and the character could've been handled by a better actor (Michael Jai White), but I can see how stacking Yen up against one of America's finest boxers could appeal to fans. The movie as a whole was not ruined for me and holds up quite well with the previous two entries. I couldn't recommended IP Man more, especially if you're a fan of old-school, or historical based kung fu. The story is great and the action wonderfully blended in, with plenty of spectacular moments to bedazzle the eyes. The table-top fight scene between Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen in the second film being one of the coolest scenes I've seen in a long time, something that is definitely unique - kung fu action fiends will love this one.

Excellent Collection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A box set of the Ip Man trilogy for this price is already a good buy, and the steelbook package makes it even better. The disc for the first film is a newer printing than the original release, so there are trailers for more recent movies at the beginning, and the menu is slightly different, but everything else is the same. The discs for parts 2 and 3 are exactly the same as their respective original releases. Each movie has all the same bonus features that were on their individual releases, HOWEVER, if you have or have seen the two-disc collectors editions of Ip Man and/or Ip Man 2, the features that were on the second bonus disc are NOT part of this steelbook set. As for the movies themselves, they are definitely among the best martial arts films of the last 10 years, and probably of the last 20. At 45 years old (at the time of the first movie), Donnie Yen finally had his breakout role, despite having been in dozens of movies since all the way back in the mid 1980s. That's because even though he was always a very impressive martial artist, Donnie Yen finally proved what he could do as an actor. Each of the Ip Man movies is dramatic, well directed, well acted, and full of great fight choreography. The first film is easily the best, particularly on a technical level, but the second is more fun, and probably more re-watchable, generally. The third movie is not as good as the other two in regards to story, but is still full of beautiful shots and awesome action. All three star Donnie Yen as Ip Man, all were directed by Wilson Yip, the first two have fight choreography by Sammo Hung Kam-Bo, and the third has fight choreography by Yuen Woo-Ping. (And if you don't recognize all those names, just take my word for it that each one is a positive selling point)

3 hit movies in one beautiful package.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quite possibly one of the best martial arts series in recent memory, and definitely the best Ip Man stories, this trilogy of films details the life of YIp Man, the man who would train Bruce Lee. The first one and was a smash success which prompted the development of the second one which saw similar acclaim. The third went bigger and international as they enlisted the talent of raw fighter Mike Tyson. On the technical side, all movies sound and look fantastic. These are high quality Blu-Rays after all. And not to mention, the beautiful steelbook courtesy of Best Buy at a unbelievable low price, this was a no brainer. Like martial arts films? Like Donnie Yen? Do yourself a favor and pick these up if you answered yes to those questions.

Beautiful SteelBook for an excellent trilogy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ip Man trilogy is an exciting martial arts trilogy which is filled with love for Wing Chun, China, and Ip Man. The main character is a martial arts master who seems to embody the best of martial arts; loyalty, bravery, humility, and mastery are all on display, and I found myself cheering for the humble Wing Chun master of Foshan during his trials. This SteelBook contains Ip Man, Ip Man 2, and Ip Man 3. The back artwork portrays an unforgettable scene from the first movie, and the inside artwork is a wide "class photo" of Ip Man and his students. I would highly recommend this set for all fans of martial arts movies. If you are a fan of the Ip Man movies, this would be a terrific way to add all three to your collection at once.

Fantastic!#
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Donnie Yen has been around...but with the IP MAN TRILOGY, he's really establishing himself here in the U.S. Following real life Ip Man, later a Grandmaster of Wing Chun, and Bruce Lee's first mentor. These films are really, really good. The Steelbook is actually is my first one...I've been collecting movies for ages, but yep, this is my first one. The only downside is that these do not have a lot of the bonus features as the Collector's Edition version. But ALL THREE, for about $30 sweetens the deal.

Two great films, one mediocre
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All furnished in one shiny steelbook, I was highly anticipating this as this not only contained the great IP Man 1/2 films but the IP Man 3 film for which at the time of purchase, I have not seen. In short, 3 was not what I expected and it is definitely the weakest of the three. Video and audio are absolutely spectacular. Special features are also abundant with the last two films in particular. If you are a Donnie Yen fan or a martial arts films fan, do yourself a favor and pick this up.

Ip Man Trilogy in Steelbook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ip Man trilogy starring Donnie Yen are hugely popular action series loosely based on Bruce Lee's real life Kung Fu Master. The series are typical Hong Kong Kung Fu action style movies with better than average plots. Not widely known here in the states, Donnie Yen grew up in the Boston area and is a top notch actor in Asian cinema. If your into Asian action flicks you've heard of the movies, they are very good and as a trilogy in steelbook they might become a collectors item some day.
