Good value for the money
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. We had a Samsung and it wore out after a couple of years. These robot vacuum cleaners are finicky and troublesome so we deliberately bought a moderately priced one instead of a fancy expensive one. The good news is that it runs around very energetically and cleans the floor. Our main floor is very large (probably over 1000 ft.² and five rooms). It does an OK job. It gets underneath the furniture and in the corners. The little brush does a good job of getting in the corners that the Samsung never got in. Another good thing is that it is very simple to operate and it works well with my iPhone. Here are some of the things that annoy me with it: number one, it occasionally has trouble finding how to get back home. That is not too big a deal because my phone notifies me it’s trying to get home and I can see it struggle. So I just go pick it up and put it in the neighborhood of the base station. The thing that annoys me the most is how difficult it is to empty it. I hate opening up a capsule and dumping a bunch of nasty dust and fibers into a garbage can where it spreads up from the garbage can in a cloud. The Samsung was just the same way. Except this stupid Roomba e5 has such a tiny canister that the carpet fibers make a nice tight wad and you have to stick your fingers in the nasty dirt to get it out. So I don’t recommend this particular vacuum if you have a lot of carpet. We have some small amount of carpet upstairs. The last problem I have with the vacuum is that it climbs up onto the legs of some very stylish chairs we have. The legs are perfectly designed to allow the vacuum to climb up under them and get his self stuck. We had the same problem with the Samsung vacuum. I honestly blame it on the furniture makers. Furniture designers should test their furniture designs with automatic vacuums to make sure they don’t cause problems like this. I attached a Photo to the review so you can see the legs on the chair that causes a problem. You can see that it is perfectly designed to capture robotic vacuums. We have many rooms and their most advanced model would probably have performed better to navigate all five upstairs rooms and be sure that it covered all of them. But I was not about to shell out $1000 for a device like this that can be really flaky and disappointing. Anyway, I was exhausted trying to find The perfect robotic vacuum cleaner. I finally gave up and picked a moderately priced one. I’m actually reasonably happy despite my complaints. And for this price if it burns out in a couple of years perhaps they will have a better model by then. I wish I had a robotic vacuum that had a more sanitary way of disposing of the dust.

Never vacuuming again
||Posted .Looked for the + version, settled with just the system, which works as well. Especially if you don’t mind emptying the bin once a week, since I don’t have a lot of traffic, it works out just fine. I have it at on a routine a few days out the week and noticed a setting, if the bin is full it won’t vacuum- that’s just a small reminder. Overall, love my J7

Roomba e5 is a great robot vacuum!
||Posted .I love the Roomba e5. Although it doesn't have the mapping capabilities of the more expensive Roombas, it does a thorough job. It is more powerful than the other Roombas and takes care of cat litter and pet hair better than my stand-up vacuum. If you accidentally leave a charging cord on the floor, it will find it. But, removing stuck objects can't be any simpler! I am deeply satisfied with this product.

iRobot Go Home
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I purchased the iRobot about 3 weeks ago and was excited to use it. I’d been wanting one for years, but didn’t like the price tag. I hate doing floors and this gadget gets the job done, but it takes forever. It doesn’t follow any pattern...just goes all over the place without any rhyme or reason. Doesn’t complete one room before moving to another. And, it never returns to its home base when I order it to.

Dustless home courtesy of Rhomba e5.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. The Rhomba e5 with WiFi connection is good so far. The only con is that it has no pattern in its direction and misses a lot of parts but by repeated trips around the floor area it covers the parts that were missed. It is programmed to start cleaning a certain time, it does the job efficiently. It works well with Alexa at start and home command. It has taken the daily cleaning job from us.

Love it
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I love this iRobot. It gets the job done. Just make sure you clean the brushes at least once every three weeks just in case hair gets stuck around the brushes so that it will work correctly.

Q: QuestionDoes this vacuum work well on carpet? don't have much carpet but do have area rugs that I would like covered also.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Wouldn't work too well on high pile carpets or shaggy rugs, but didn't have a problem transitioning from flat to carpet. It would scrunch up the edges of the carpet if it's not stiff enough.

Q: QuestionIf the E5 doesn’t have mapping, how does it know where to go. Friend said theirs kept going into the kitchen 5 different times.
Asked by Bootie.
- A:Answer This model has dirt detection and sensors that tell it not so much where to go but where it can't go. You will find it returning to a room like a kitchen repeatedly if that is the angle it bounces towards. Mine is obsessed with under a particular chair, but really it is because it bounces off a bookcase when it leaves home and that chair is the next stop. You can set up a barrier like books or buy the additional barrier towers by iRobot if you want it to stay out of an area. The trick to successfully using a robot vacuum is to understand it cleans to high standards over time. The more often you run it the better your floors will look. It doesn't require mapping to do that effectively.

Q: QuestionAre the brushes rubber or bristles? What about cleaning; can the dust/dirt container be removed so it can be washed/rinsed? Can the filter be rinsed?
Asked by vendeleh.
- A:Answer The "brushes" on the E5 are soft rubber counter rotating brushes. There are no bristles. So far, they seem to work great. We have to large dogs, and they have not gotten clogged or tangled with hair at all. The dust bin can be rinsed out to clean it, but the removable filter cannot be washed. I just knock the dust out in the trash can and every couple weeks give it a good blast with canned air. So far, very pleased with the E5.

Q: QuestionThe type of filter says other. How do you clean the filter or replace it
Asked by Craftdoodles.
- A:Answer It just a typical filter. I believe that the filter can last a long time. Each time a job is done, I take the filter out and knock the dust out by tapping it on the side of my trash can, then I put it back in.

Q: QuestionDoes this vac detect cords or shoelaces?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, all Roombas have anti-tangle technology. The robot will generally just drive over cords or shoelaces, but will reverse if anything gets captured by the dual brushes.
