Just get it!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Amazing! I settled for an off brand robot vacuum for Christmas last year. Big mistake. It kept going everywhere and constantly had dog hair in the brush that I had to keep cleaned out. I have an almost 1 year old, a golden retriever, and a lab/pit mix to say my floors stay dirty is an understatement. So after a lot of research and had to convince/justify to my husband that we need it, I got my first roomba. It has changed my life. It mapped out my house minus the rooms I don’t want it to vacuum and does a fantastic job. It has a bit of learning curve and there were a few hair balls to start but after a week there isn’t any. Today I decided to vacuum with my upright just to see how much I would pick up. I would have a full canister before with dirt and dog hair. Today was just a little dog hair and dirt. I think I got a few places that the roomba missed. I have cut my vacuuming time down tremendously. I was doing it every day or at least every other, now I might do it once a week. Ohh and the lines it leaves in the carpet are impressive! Waking up after it ran and seeing clean floors and lines makes me so happy and not stressed over cleaning constantly. Also I haven’t changed the bag in the dispenser yet, it is mostly full after a week. I have ran the vacuum once or twice a day since I got it. I think now the bag will last longer cause it’s not having to empty as much on the runs now. I’m completely sold on iRobot products and will be saving for the m6 mop so I can run them both on the tile.

Alice is a star
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5We have a very large house, the square footage on first floor is around 4,500 +/-. We found the limit of the mapping ability of the i7+ as it never completely mapped our bedroom and gave an error on the third training run. It took 3 days of training runs for Alice to build a map. We initially let it clean and it was taking forever. Once I figured out how to have it train only and not clean, it took 7+ hours over 3 days. One thing to be aware of, It cannot handle darkness so unless you leave lights on, it can only clean during the day. We live in a remote area, so not a lot of light after dark. Because of the large area, I don't have it on a schedule, I have it do a cluster of rooms every day although now that the house is mapped I suspect it could handle everything. We plan on getting two more units, one to divide downstairs area and another for upstairs that is only around 1,000-1,200 Sq ft. The waste bin was the biggest seller for us as we are not always there in the winter so it can still clean and we don't have to worry about the on board dust bin filling. Definitely recommend this vacuum. Now have to decide if the i9+ is worth the extra $400.. hmmm.

Love my Roomba!
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Cleaning quality, Floors, MappingCons mentioned:StuckThis is our first Roomba. We spent weeks researching robot vacuums and considered less expensive brands and models but we always came back to the i7+. And I'm glad we did! It was very easy to get started. I would recommend setting up the Smart Map before having it vacuum for the 1st time...though this isn't necessary. It took our Roomba 3 passes (a total of 6 hours) to map our 2,000 SF 1 story house. Once the area is mapped, you can add dividers to rooms (where they aren't automatically detected) as well as room labels within the app so you can tell smart devices like Google Home "Have the Roomba vacuum the entryway" and it will make a bee-line for the entryway, vacuum that area, then return home. --A Few Tips-- 1) Pick up electrical cords or hang them on furniture so the Roomba doesn't get stuck on them or attempt to suck them up. The i7+ includes a Virtual Wall Barrier device. When turned on, it will prevent the Roomba from vacuuming a certain area that you anticipate might cause problems. It can be set to create a halo around the area or a virtual wall to prevent the Roomba from entering a certain room (for example, you might want to keep it out of the kitchen while you're cooking). The app also allows you to set "Keep Out Zones"... more on that later in the App section. 2) From my experience, I've found that it's best to move kitchen and bathroom mats 7 inches away from the very bottom of cabinets (measuring along the floor). If the mats are too close to the cabinet or flush underneath, sometimes our Roomba gets itself wedged in between and has a hard time getting itself un-stuck. We have 3.5" between the floor and our cabinets and that's almost the exact same height as the Roomba. --Vacuum Time-- It takes our Roomba a total of 4 hours to clean our house (2.5 hours of actual cleaning time plus 1.5 hours where it needs to pause and re-charge in the middle of the cleaning process). Even though our home is 2,000 SF, only 1,170 SF is the actual vacuum-able area due to a King Size bed that it cannot fit under as well as couches and other furniture that have less than a 3.5" clearance. Although 2.5 hours of vacuuming might seem like a long time, hey, at least you're not the one doing it! I find that it motivates me to clean the house while it vacuums. I feel like I have 2 people cleaning the house at the same time instead of just 1 :) --Cleaning the i7+-- If you're like me and feel a tad overwhelmed by the cleaning instructions in the manual, just watch the approximately 7 minute long video titled "How to clean your Roomba i7/i7+" on YouTube created by RoyYaBoi. He seems to be a teenager and I think he did a GREAT job. His video made cleaning the i7+ seem like a breeze! I clean my Roomba after every complete job just to remove hair from the rollers and any nerf darts that might get stuck in it. In my case, I have to remove the rollers to find the hair stuck inside of them. It's not evident by just looking at the rollers. Note: There was a nerf dart stuck in the port on the i7+ where the home base sucks out its contents. I would never have known had I not turned the Roomba upside down and checked it out. So if you have kids, at the very least, you might want to take a look at the underside after it cleans the house. --iRobot App-- History - I like how the app keeps track of all of the vacuuming and smart mapping jobs. You can look at the map of each job to see exactly where it vacuumed. Smart Maps - You can set "Keep Out Zones" which is great if you have several areas in your house that you want the Roomba to always avoid but don't want the hassle of running around the house moving the Virtual Wall Barrier from place to place. --About our Floors-- We have hardwood floors and tile throughout with one large area rug in the living room. We do not have any pets. The Roomba works great on all of our floors! In summary, I love our i7+ and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a robot vacuum!

didn't perform like expected
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value3 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5I have 3 labs, they shed. While I love the convenience of not having to constantly empty the bin, Roomba i7+ doesn't perform well on carpeted floors. Clumps of debris (dirt & dog hair) were left behind. The vacuum doesn't always find its way back to the docking station & runs out. My house is a long rancher & I have it run twice a day. The app is great at relaying information. iRobot customer service is very good. They aren't sure why the vacuum is leaving the debris behind. They are sending me new rubber brushes, I hope this can solve this problem. We are also moving the station to different areas to see if that is better. I clicked the "would refer" button. There isn't one for "unsure".

i7 Roomba - Magic Turtle
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Really love this i7 Roomba. It does a great job of vacuuming entire house plus empties the dirt itself. We have named our Roomba the “Magic Turtle”. I bought this item online from Best Buy due to extra warranty they offered. It was the easiest purchase I’ve ever made. Got to choose the time I wanted to pickup; plus they even brought it outside & loaded it in the trunk of my car. Perfect- no contact.

totally worth it - I think I’m in love

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Cleaning quality, Floors, For pet hairI have only owned my Roomba 3 days, but I am already a believer. I work from home and have a fairly small, very dusty apartment with a cat. I have been thinking about a robot vacuum for years - but really thought it would be a waste of money. I have had chronic sinusitis and sinus surgery this past summer, I also struggle with fatigue, add to that the my fur ball cat that sheds everywhere, manages to kick litter and I’m not sure how she does it but she is the messiest eater. I read rice after review and settled on the shark self cleaning equivalent and was so excited. That lasted 1 day, their app is so glitchy that the robot wouldn’t connect even after a very long support call, resetting, etc. the batter didn’t charge even after 24 hrs plugged in, I brought it back to Best Buy and just went for it even though I thought even the sale price was ridiculous ($699- worth every penny’s) unlike the shark, it was very easy to set up, the app connected immediately and within 3 hours Rosie did her first run through of my apartment. Here is the best part - my cat, who is terrified of the vacuum and hiss for hours after every use had zero fear of the roomba. (Rosie the roomba). She watched it with a skeptical eye but as she worked her way through the apartment she got braver and followed her. The app shows where the trouble ‘dirtier’ spots are and it will spend more time on those areas I have hard wood floors and is able to easily go on frim the floor to the carpets, even over the high bathroom threshold and the bath mat, she fits under my sectional and the first run there were only a few spots she missed, but she has learned the apartment layout and now gets those spots. The suction strength is good, maybe not as strong as my dyson, but it picked up litter, crumbs, dust, cat hair. I have run it once a day - and I swear last night the cat was waiting for it to start like it is a toy. My apartment has never been cleaner. After 2 runs I was able to label my rooms so I can have Rosie clean a specific room. It is not very loud,y apartment is small and I was watching tv when I started the clean cycle tonight and it didn’t bother me at all. The app is also great, it should how long each cleaning was, and you can look at a map to see where the room a went and where the heavier dirt spot were. And the length of a full cleaning run has gone down by a few minutes each time, so maybe it learns the layout a bit more each time? Or maybe there is less dirt to pick up? It is only day three so time will tell, but so far I’m really impressed, my dyson might collect some dust in the closet!

Q: QuestionCan the Roomba i7 work with multiple charging bases, that is one on each floor?
Asked by JC.
- A:Answer If I do not buy the cleaning station for Roomba i7 how does the Roomba i7 charge? If I buy charging station separately, which one is best?

Q: QuestionHi, I’ve had a Roomba for over 10 yrs, one of the “dumb” ones that bounces across the room. Very happy with it, still running everyday. My question is, does the i7 has a dog poo detector? My dumb roomba is the only thing it detects, dog poo, very messy!
Asked by Dogpoo.
- A:Answer Yes. I have a puppy and she had an accident. It came across it sensed it and notified us on the app that there was a moisture type of detection. It didn't eat up the poop. It sensed it before it got to the roller.

Q: QuestionDoes the i7+ detect when the vacuum is full and automatically return to the charging station to be emptied, and then continue? I have a golden retriever that sheds a lot.

Q: QuestionDoes it do well with cleaning a 1000+ sq. ft. home?
Asked by DC97COBRA.
- A:Answer Our home is about 1300 feet and it does an excelent job.It may take two charges to complete the entire cleaning process. It docks itself when the charge gets low and goes back to the correct area after recharging. I was skeptical but it works.

Q: QuestionOne of my rugs has fringe on two ends. I expect the vacuum would have issues with that. Do I have to fold the ends under before vacuuming that area?
Asked by JOMO.
- A:Answer Well, I went ahead and purchased the iRobot Roomba i7+, so I can answer my own question. The fringe on this really big heavy rug under my dining table was not a problem! It did have to backup and approach corners on my rugs from different angles, but did not tangle. The only change I am making so far is to install strip cord protecters over the small cords that run under my sofas. The Roomba did not tangle in them, but it made it have to backup and retry a lot, so I decided to buy the strip cord covers to make smoother cleaning paths. So far, so good!
Answered by JOMO
Q: QuestionDoes it require Wi-Fi. Is Wi-Fi only required if you do it remotely.
Asked by NoWiFi.
- A:Answer No, it does not require Wifi to work. But to take advantage of all the features you do need a wifi connection so that the app can synch with the Roomba. On the app you can choose your preferences (if it should vaccum the same room twice, if you need the carpet boost when a carpet is detected, if you want it to clean edges) and also set up a cleaning schedule. The app will also let you know when the bin is full and if the Roomba has gotten stuck somewhere and needs rescuing.
Answered by Clau
Q: QuestionHow does it do with power cords on the floor and light-weight throw rugs?
Asked by DogOwner.
- A:Answer Very good with both. Cords will cause it to stop and back up until it's untangled. And the one small rug I have doesn't cause any hangups either, and doesn't get moved around either.
