Good Robo Vacuum
||Posted .Owned for 8 months when reviewed.I have had my iRobot Roomba s9+ for almost a year. I switched from other vacuum that I have had for two years. The most convenient feature of this vacuum is the automatic dirt disposal, you won't have to care about emptying the bin of the Roomba s9 for some time. It has some convenient features like Smart Maps (you can train the vacuum to learn the sq footage of your house), then you can tell the vacuum to only clean sections of your house. The App works well with my phone. I paired it with the Braava jet m6 mop, and it has a cool feature where you can set up the Braava to mop after the vacuum has finished cleaning a floor. Something annoying that I have found in the vacuum is when it returns to the dirt disposal, sometimes the lead of the vacuum will open, this creates that the vacuum does not work until you close the lid. Is easy to use and if you have pets it will do a great work by collecting must of the hair.

Worth the money!!
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This iRobot-Roomba is as good as advertised!! I’m impressed with the technology and the work horse attitude this unit has. I have hard wood floors and carpet. The Roomba can tell the difference, when it goes over the carpet, it turns the vacuum on high, when leaves the carpet and goes to the wood floors, it idles down the vacuum for the hard wood floors-you can literally hear the difference. Finally, when it finishes it’s tasks, this Roomba goes back to its base automatically empties the Roomba unit into the base!

Nothing but problems.
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. We bought this not even a week ago and it had been nothing but problems. I keep trying to give it another chance and its aggravating. The first day the app failed- which was not irobots problem however literally in the first 24 hours the brush broke in 2 from wrapping. Its unreal how fragile the brushes are. Irobot said they would replace it but its not normally something covered by warranty- but due to time I ordered a replacement. Then the poweboost stop working on carpet. It is running very weak. WHEN it works it is an amazing product. However we've had more issues then we should in one week. Id rather just vacuum myself at this point to not deal with all the issues. Will be returning and trying a different brand.

Design problem with lid
||Posted .The S9 has a design defect with the lid. After initial charging & setup, it wouldn’t run because contacts under the lid were not touching. The “close the lid” error wouldn’t go away even though it was closed. Applying slight pressure to the lid, made the error go away temporarily. Waited 1 hr on hold for support & had to manually pull up the contact pins so they would touch. This is not how iRobots TOP model should be. I really wanted to use the S9, but I have a feeling this will be a reoccurring issue after warranty expires.

Love it
||Posted .Make sure you allow 2-3 mapping runs first (not cleaning runs) then it creates a map. From there, you can set zones where you do and don’t want it to go and it works PERFECTLY! Its amazing how it “knows” where to go! It does have quite the suction so i would not let it go on a wool rug. (Which is why i made a no go zone) but it stays away now! Love it!

Expensive... But worth it!
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This unit is definitely the most expensive but after a few runs on our floors it feels worth every penny! One of the more satisfying features is the self emptying bin. The first couple of runs to learn the layout took a while and during the process it had to empty itself. It's nice to not have to manually empty it so it can resume its cleaning! My wife isn't that "excited" about doing floors ;) and when we laid tile this Roomba became a Godsend! There's something satisfying about opening an app on your phone and sending our new robot to clean a certain room or entire layout...especially with a pet rabbit! Then to walk through after a run and the floors look spotless! Love the app, love the robot and love the self emptying bin!

My first robot ever!!! Excellent robot
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. My first robot ever and it was a long time coming. After lots of research I made the decision on getting this model because it was powerful, had its own dumping bin and from reviews very good customer service. The iRobot s9+ has awesome technology: a. allows it to map out multiple rooms in your house b. set keep out zones c. spot cleaning mode d. an app that’s easy to understand e. voice control capability f. when done with a cleaning job it empties it’s dirt into a bin g. scheduling iRobot to clean whenever you want 1st tip : Give it training runs first so that it will learn your rooms. You can have it clean as it learns it’s just battery power will diminish faster. It’s ok if it does not finish because it will return to its home base then return after recharging to finish up. However training runs will take 3 or 4 runs before it produces a map of that room so be patient! 2nd tip: when you normally vacuum you move your stuff around and vacuum. You need to do the same thing. This is not a 100% plug and play or set it and forget it type of situation. The iRobot once it maps will easily vacuum but it stuff like cords, doggie toys, other objects are in its way it may get stuck or confused. Final overview: I have been using iRobot for a little over a month. I have had it clean via schedule, thru the app and voice control. All work really well except the voice control is a bit awkward because even though you say, Alexa, ask Alice ( yep from Brady Bunch ) to clean laundry room” the Alexa response is to ask you what rooms to clean. No biggie just a bit redundant for me. With loads of features, great tech with a powerful cleaning ability at this time I will recommend it. Drawbacks: So far none other than price, but as they say you get what you pay for.

Q: QuestionHave 2 - 100 dogs that shed will this pick up. We currently have the 890 and it works great but looking to upgrade.
Asked by Lillie.
- A:Answer Yes. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats in my home. This vacuum takes care of hair very well. Just make sure no accidents have occurred or the roomba will make a mess.
Answered by BartVegas
Q: QuestionDoes this unit navigate over hard wood, carpet and area rugs? Past units hung up on area rugs.
Asked by TNClean.
- A:Answer This does not do a good job in the transition area from rug to floor. It can trun up rugs and get caught. Orientalists, rugs with fringes get caught and torn off in brush roller. Happens at least 2 -3 times each cleaning over 6 rugs.
Answered by TheScarletOak
Q: QuestionHow often do you have to replace the different parts; i.e. filter, rotating brushes, etc.?
Asked by TroyHusker.
- A:Answer I will start with the fact that we have 3 golden retrievers and we run the roomba every night. The bag is the most changed item changing maybe every 4-6 weeks. It can hold a lot and packs in. The long dual brushes are taken out every 5 days or so and I remove hair from the ends. Takes 2 minutes at most, very easy. The filter life can be extended by taking it out every week and tapping it on the side of the sink to remove heavy dirt. I also use a small air compressor tip to blow back through it and it cleans up like new. Without the air I would say change every 1-2 months. The round brush that cleans edges needs taken off every month and clean hair under it. It lasts 3- 6 months. Again, we have 3 golden retrievers who shed a lot. If not for that, I would say all of the above would be done at intervals of 3 times as long at least. Hope this helps. I know it sounds like a lot but everything I mentioned is less than 5 minutes work. It is all very easy. It is a great machine.

Q: QuestionHow many square feet will it clean in one charge?
Asked by wannabeowner.
- A:Answer My house is about 2800 sq feet, mostly hard wood, but some tile. The S9 goes back to the dock to recharge, then continues where it leaves off. It charges twice to complete our house.
Answered by FinallyASleeper
Q: QuestionWhat happens if it comes across pet excretions (barf, pee, or poop) on the floor?
Asked by PetOwner.
- A:Answer It will vacuume right over it! Then it will be all over your house.
Answered by Momoftwo
Q: QuestionHow does this irobot Roomba clean as far as cleaning patterns?
Asked by Doc9015.
- A:Answer It's a systemic pattern - back and forth in straight lines. It seems to change the straight line pattern 90 degrees each time it runs.
Answered by BigRfastRbetR
Q: QuestionWhat happens if my dog leaves a toy on the floor?
Asked by kim03.
- A:Answer Your Roomba will simply navigate around small items like dog toys. While it's recommended you clear the floor before a mission for a faster and more comprehensive clean (much like you would before using a traditional vacuum) it's not at all necessary. Roomba will adapt and course-correct.

Q: QuestionI have very dark rooms and black hardwood floors and carpets. Would this robot work for me?
Asked by Black.
- A:Answer All robotic vacuums need at least ambient light to function, so the room can't be totally dark. The Roomba s-series (s9, s9+) do have an added sensor that allows them to clean on black floors, however. This is a unique step feature to iRobot.
