IT. Just the word conjures up sometning dark and creepy for those of us old enough to remember the original miniseries with Richard Thomas and Tim Curry. Unfortunately the drawback here is it's only the first half of the story, but the second is out this summer in theaters. That being said, this version is a dark creepy ride through the seven characters as children facing an entity that comes out every so often to feed in the town. The two hours plus are a setup for the final confrontation between the adults and IT. But this (chapter one) is a fine thriller that stands on its own. Hey, clowns are creepy to start with. The film transfer is by nature dark in a lot of places. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack provides super audio and scares the pants off you in a few spots!

Overview: Blu-Ray / 4K / Digital SteelBook Bundle The Good: Excellent build quality on the SteelBook. The back especially has a cool image of Georgie's paper boat. When you open the SteelBook up, you get an image of Pennywise trying to convince Georgie to come down and play with him. The movie itself is a great adaption of the Stephen King classic. Tonally it's pretty dark, but it also feels like an old school coming of age adventure movie at times (think Goonies). Bill Skarsgard gives a uniquely terrifying performance as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and the accompanying young actors all turn in convincing performances. The Bad: Uhh, there isn't any bad with this one. If you are prone to nightmares and scare easily, be careful I suppose! Recommended? Yes.
