I have been looking to replace my VHS copy with a digital copy. I was so excited to find this and add it to my collection!
This review is from Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story [DVD] [2001]

It's begins a little slow, starts a little boring, but it picks up. And it picks up well. There's a lot of excitement when they actually introduce the typical Jack & the Beanstalk story. I think it's a great retelling of a traditional fairytale we all grew up with. This guy Jack finds out that he is a great ancestor of an actual character from a fairytale and the tale he grew up hearing was terribly wrong and now he has to pay for his ancestor's crime. Delightful! However, when Ondine tells her version of the Jack & the Beanstalk story, it just all seems very suspicious. It was just too happy and cheesy. I know it's just a movie, but I think she is lyng! Anyway, I think the original fairytale of Jack & the Beanstalk is my least favorite tale. That is why I was a bit hesitant to watch this miniseries. But it was actually great! And the casting was great as well! This is a must see for anyone who likes fantasy movies! And you if you like this, then I recommend seeing the 10th Kingdom as well.
