    Synopsis

    Jaws 2
Despite being a less well-regarded virtual remake of the original film, Jaws 2 earned a tidy sum at the box office by combining its predecessor's winning formula with the popular teen horror craze, helping to spawn the era of blockbuster sequels. Roy Scheider returns as Sheriff Martin Brody, whose small resort town of Amity is poised to bounce back from the economic hardship it encountered after becoming widely known as the site of vicious shark attacks. But at the same time that Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) is welcoming a real estate developer to Amity, two divers disappear and a party of waterskiers is consumed by a shark. The incidents are explained away as accidents, but Brody knows better, tipping his bullets with cyanide and forbidding his sons Mike (Mark Gruner) and Sean (Marc Gilpin) to participate in a teen sailing regatta. Everyone foolishly chalks up Brody's fears to trauma-induced paranoia, and the regatta goes forward, with a hungry great white trailing the youthful contestants and hungrily picking them off one by one. Director Jeannot Szwarc would later helm another sequel, Supergirl (1984). ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

I remember seeing this film in the theater as a kid The scene where Brody is in the ocean looking after the remains of the boat "accident" & the burned body jumps out. We all jumped. The positives about the film is bringing back the late Roy Scheider, late Murray Hamilton, Lorraine Gary & having John Williams back to do the music. It is an OK follow up. Yes another large great white back eating people in the Amity area. So, the Brody kids were played in 4 films by 4 different actors. What brings the film NOT anywhere near the original classic film is wasting of time on the teenage characters. BORING. Did you care? I did Not then & I do NOT now. At least some extras on the DVD NO chapter search list. You could do worse than Jaws 2. Like for example 3 of 4. Truly bad films. You just have the music & the some of the original characters back. Would have been nice to get Dreyfuss back just to take a phone call from Scheider.

"Jaws 2" is an interesting sequel. At least it has Roy Scheider -once again playing the role of Chief Martin Brody -, and it has John Williams' familiar shark theme. The movie has its fine moments, especially the attack on the kids' catamarans and Brody's obssession with the shark. However, I find exaggerating the scene when the shark swims like a torpedo in order to attack a water skier. And what about the shark attacking on a helicopter? Oh, please!!! No way I could buy that. However, the extras on this Blu Ray are quite interesting. The behind-the-scenes featurette is fantastic at explaining what Director Jeannot Szwarc and crew went through while filming. I personally felt happy at watching John Williams as he explained the process of making the music for this film. And let's not forget the deleted scenes, which makes me wonder why they are not included in the final cut. All in all, this Blu Ray is worth buying.

It's hard to live up to the all time classic that is the first Jaws movie, and even though a lot of the cast and crew returned for this sequel, unfortunately a lot of the magic hasn't. The main problem with this film is that most of the characters are starting to get progressively dumber. I mean Chief Brody spends most of the movie as a lunatic, and ends up crashing his boat is a move that makes him seem like he has a learning disability. However, there is still something here, and as a huge fan of the first film it's sort of nice to have the whole set. Not a great movie, but certainly not a horrible one either.

Yes, the Spielberg Jaws film is the best, but the 2nd film in the franchise is actually a very satisfying follow up, featuring many of the same cast members and production team members. The thrills are plenty and even though the film is getting there in age it still holds up. The HD picture is very good but not at at level of the fully restored Jaws 1 film. Also the soundtrack is slightly thin sounding. Nevertheless, if you were a fan of the film when it came out, you'll love this release.

I still remember that during the summer in which the original Jaws was released, people were more much hesitant to swim in the ocean. Speilberg wanted nothing to do with a sequel, but clearly the studio knew it had a gold mine. Jaws 2 was the result. While not as exciting as the original, this was a worthy sequel. After Jaws 2, however, the franchise went downhill.

JAWS is as good as it gets but the sequel isn't really that bad at all. With most of the cast returning, the film focuses on the teenage kids and their bout with terror on a sunny day. While there isn't anything new here, the film is done with plenty of gusto and is never dull. Universal's new Blu-ray is a welcome addition to any fans home viewing library.

I will say I enjoyed this film just as much as the original film! It had the great acting, suspenseful plot and again the phenomenal original score. You honestly can't say that about many sequels, but I will say this one doesn't fail at all! If you enjoyed the original Jaws, then you are sure to enjoy this film as well!

Having Jaws 2 in the collection and also having it rendered and it's original format, is outstanding. I used to have this on VHS and now I have it on DVD. It is a simple and straightforward survival thriller. A must watch is Jaws 2. if you're into this type of movie. Go out and get it.
