JBL - Flip 4 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black

First impressions: The packaging was beautiful and sleek. I’ve owned Bluetooth speakers in the past, but I received this speaker as a prize at work & It has been my daily driver since. I know $79 is steep for a speaker, however if you listen to music a lot this is a GREAT investment. You get what you pay for. I do have some negatives and I will get to them. I’ve had this speaker for almost a year now, and let's just say this speaker has taken a beating & it still works the just as good as the day I’ve gotten it. I am beyond impressed. I use it every single day. I do have pretty high expectations for my sound quality, and I listen to every type of music, as well as podcasts. Every genre sounds great. (Rock, jazz, hip hop, pop, alternative). I love how LOUD crisp and clear the sound is. Even on lower volume the sound is so crisp, defined and deep. I admittedly dropped this speaker numerous times at work (Wood flooring) from higher than normal distances and thanks to the rubber materials at the top and bottom, I don’t cringe when it drops. I know it'll be alright. This thing is beyond durable, it just does a little bounce when it drops. The design is rugged and I love the fact that it has a lanyard attached. I am able to hang them outside or practically anywhere I want.. This speaker has been with me everywhere from kayaking, numerous beach trips sitting in the hot sun to camping and multiple other vacations. The fact that it is waterproof is just the cherry on top. After bringing it to the beach sometimes I just rinse the speaker off (although not really necessary as it repels sand just fine, I do it more for the oils) Very recently, I accidentally left one of my speakers out in the rain. It turns on and connects perfectly. It can be immersed in water up to 1 meter (roughly 3 ft) for up to a half an hour (Just make sure the rubber charging flap is closed). It charges using a micro usb cord.. very common. The Bluetooth connectivity is also amazing! I have it paired with an iPhone 10 & it honestly connects lightning speed. The battery could be a better compared to what’s on the market. But don’t get me wrong I get a good 8 hours of use before it starts to die. After I received this speaker, I quickly purchased another (for $99 off JBL). The biggest selling point and incentive for purchasing a second one is because I learned about the connect feature. By pressing the button on both speakers’, the connect button lights up and you get a audio feedback which then simultaneity plays music on the two speakers (without ANY app). Occasionally it has dropped on me, but this has been so rare I almost didn't mention it. I love that you don’t need an app to connect the multiple speakers. They do have an app, the app allows you to use these speakers in stereo mode, which I thought was beyond cool! HOWEVER, the app is absolutely terrible so beware. The stereo mode turns off when your phone locks, (5/5 when it works) This was disappointing, but I did not even know about this feature, so It was not a deal breaker for me. I do strongly think this is a huge missed opportunity. The app seemingly has no support or updates. Another negative is that you cannot connect this speaker with the newer JBL Flip 5. This is a huge disappointment. I feel like this delays user upgrade because now that I have multiple JBL Flip 4’s, I would not want to replace all of them. Pros: - Functionality (9/10) - Ease of use (10/10) - Can connect to multiple speakers (10/10) - Durability (10/10) - Waterproof (10/10) - Sound (10/10) - Connectivity (10/10) - Aux port / Micro USB to charge - Siri works with by pressing and holding the play button Cons: - Battery life (8/10) - Terrible App (2/10) - Stereo sound doesn't work because app is terrible (1/10) - Doesn’t connect to newer models JBL Flips (0/10) Overall, the pro list absolutely outweighs the cons (at least for me). My grandma even wanted two speakers for herself. She is so happy with them and they are so easy for her to use. (She is so proud of herself) You just turn it on and it automatically connects to your default Bluetooth device. I absolutely recommend these speakers for ANYONE who listens to music. If my grandma who is older can use these speakers, then that must mean something for ease of use!! It is so close to 5 stars, however I am giving it 4 stars only because the JBL connect app is pretty much useless, meaning you are unable to use all the marketed features such as stereo sound. I am also dissapointed they do not cross function with the newer JBL Flip 5's.

This was an amazing Bluetooth speaker that had brilliant clarity and enough bass to thump it. Although I feel if I dug a little a deeper in my wallet and tried an elite one I just may have blasted my neighbors to Mars. I want so much bass that’ll make my head vibrate. Regardless I highly recommend the JBL series. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that it died (unable to charge) a week shy of a year of owning it. But for some reason I’m not upset about it. I got to blow the roof off for at least 2 or 3 times a week for almost a year. I snoozed on the warranty. Anyway enjoy fellow funkaholics.

Love this solid little speaker. Big sound for a speaker that's about the size of a water bottle. Has worked flawlessly so far. Primarily use it with an iPhone and Spotify while working out or working in the kitchen. One of those rare gadgets that puts a smile on your face,

The speaker has excellent sound for the size, and being waterproof makes it perfect for summer river rides. I've improved some utilities for it. Since speaker doesn't float, I've added a chunk of a swim noodle and it's good to go. I've also made a custom along for it so it doesn't rattle the knick-knacks when I blast epic, soundtrack music.

This little speaker offers a plethora of options and I love it! The sound quality is amazing and I love the fact that I can receive calls while using it. While there are newer versions of the speaker that are slightly bigger, I opted for this one because of the features and it’s awesome! I like it so much that after a few weeks of using it, I bought a second one as a gift for someone.

Best speaker ever. Sound is great. Easy to pair with different phones. Love the fact that you can connect it with other JBL speaker to make it sound louder.

I have always been a fan of JBL & this one didn’t disappoint. Such a full sound comes out of such a small item. I got the medium-sized version & it was perfect for a party of about 30-40 people at our house. Love it!

I bought cause price was gd and was blown away,sound was crisp and bass and everything is on point, quality is gd,just impressed with it overall. I also like that they have different color styles for it but I like the black color style.
