I recently purchased the JBL SoundBoost 2 from Best Buy and my experience overall so far has been positive. For the convenience factor of instantly adding better sound output from my Moto Z smartphone, I can't complain. On one hand, it definitely improves the audio quality of music and videos with no apparent lag or sync issues like with some Bluetooth speakers. On the other hand, while the sound quality is definitely richer and more detailed than using my phone's speaker, it isn't quite as good as some Bluetooth speakers (although I'm comparing it to my Bose Soundlink Mini, one of the better, if not best, portable BT speakers on the market). All in all, I believe it sounds very good for a speaker mod and it is convenient to just snap it in place when needed. It does increase the bulkiness of my phone, but that's to be expected. The built-in stand is great for using it as a speaker phone. The portability factor can't be beat when compared to Bluetooth speakers. For most people, I think the sound quality will be more than satisfactory. Although there is an Alexa equipped speaker mod from a competitor that was recently introduced, not everyone will need or want that feature, and this is a less expensive alternative. I would recommend purchasing the JBL SoundBoost 2 if you need a convenient, portable, and relatively inexpensive quality speaker mod for your Moto Z or Moto Z Play.

i have had several JBL products in the past and i knew that getting this sound boost speaker for the Motorola phone will make a huge difference in sound quality versus the built in phone speakers. Sound quality is excellent for the size of the speaker mod and seamless connectivity with the phone just plug and play. Built in kickstand on the back is very convenient when you want to stand the phone up while watching a movie. Only thing i would say it would have been nice if the speaker mod had a passive radiator or a small SUB built in that would really make this mod stand out even more and would make for a robust sound. overall great speaker mod which also allows you to use this as a speaker phone for phone calls.
