Zac Brown in interviews leading up to the release of the Jekyll + Hyde CD, had said, "Our boundaries have dissolved and we're going to still do things that are somewhat familiar that people like, but we're also going to stretch out and take chances beyond what we've done before. Some people are going to be really surprised," the singer told Rolling Stone Country back in November of last year. Well, after listening to this album, they certainly meant what they said and it is a wonderfully diverse piece of work. Probably, in my humble opinion, the most diverse selection in their ever-growing catalog of music. For instance, Zac and the boys allow rock superstar, Chris Cornell, to handle lead vocals on the piece, Heavy Is The Head. Another example is the near crooning style of the song, Mango, which features Sara Bareilles. and Tomorrow Never Comes features a Celtic/folk feel to it. Of course there's plenty for fans of their trade-mark sound and harmonies too, which can be found in such songs as the single, Homegrown, Loving You Easy, and Remedy. You can even find some R&B influenced songs on this treasure - One Day, as well as others. Truthfully, I love this album! A must have for folks who simply like good music - this one is truly a monster of a record! Pun intended...

As in the title, the music is also Jekyll and Hyde. There are some "standard" ZBB songs, which are very good.....and then there are the other songs. There is a BiG Band song (which is very good), a pop song, a hard rock song, to name a few. They are not necessarily bad, they are just not what I wanted to hear on my ZBB CD. If you are a fan, I think you will still like the CD. If this is your first time listening to Zach Brown, this is not the right CD to start with. Try one their other CD's before you buy this one.

Zac Brown band have been known for trying different genres but this album has definitely pushed the limits of genres. There are songs like "Tomorrow Never Comes" that has pop influences sound with guitar, "Heavy is the Head" that has heavy rock rifts with help from Chris Cornell (of Soundgarden) and "Mango Trees" that has a jazzy frank sinatra vibes with help from Sara Barielles. Even though there are different sounds on this album, the band sticks with their country roots such as "Homegrown Honey" and "Junkyard."

I have loved Zac Brown Band since their very first released album "The Foundation" back in 2008. Since then, I have purchased every album they have ever released. For this one, one particular song struck a cord with me, and it's titled "Homegrown". If you haven't already heard them on an album I strongly urge you to do so.

I was duped into buying this CD due to the heavy airplay of the single, "Heavy Is The Head." I like Chris Cornell and that song rocks. When I bought the CD, the genre on the receipt said, "Country." The rest of the songs were all country pop songs. I'm not a big fan of that genre but the songs weren't bad. Zac Brown has a good voice but I was expecting more of a Soundgarden vibe.

I feel in LOVE with the Zac Brown Band when I heard The Foundation. Then Pass The Jar came out. Loved the CD and the DVD. You Get What You Give came out the same year. LOVED IT. Uncaged released two years later. Once again LOVED IT.....Well, if you are like me, you will be in for a SHOCK when you listen to this CD. Love the song with Chris Cornell, but thats about it.

If your a fan of the Zac Brown Band, this album is one to have. It has a little bit of anything and it is not your typical country album. Like a lot of country artists, they are stepping away from the stereotypical country side. His song with Chris Cornell is just amazing. When I first heard it on Sirus XM Octane, I was amazed and it just made me a bigger fan of him.

Let me start by stating that I have not been a major Zac Brown fan prior to this album. This album truly returns to the heart of what rock and roll is: a combination of various musical styles. The ZBB have sincerity and poise in their lyrics here, along with help of other artists, and the album truly embodies an artistic roller coaster.
