An ordinary suburban couple (Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher) discover that their hospitable new neighbors (Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot) are actually government spies. Soon, all four of them are caught up in an international espionage imbroglio. Greg Mottola (Superbad, Adventureland) directed this action comedy.~Daniel Gelb
Overall, the movie was entertaining. It does take a while to get into the action and from there on it’s a fun ride. A certain scene that triggers the action caught me by surprise but that was the point - to trigger the action. There is another scene between the two female leads that lingers a bit too long but it has a good payoff later in the movie. Entertaining movie to enjoy with your significant other. You’ll have some laughs for sure.
Entertaining comedy/action combo. Nothing special about this one, but it doesn't run off the tracks either. Delivers an entertaining story and Gal Gadot is pre "Wonder Woman" here and showing her "action" acting chops. Overall, an enjoyable movie.
Sometimes you want to see a great movie, where you revel in its great and weighty artistic attributes, and sometimes you just want to see a good movie that makes you laugh, keeps you on your toes with a little bit of action and intrigue, and ultimately entertains. This is definitely the later.
This is not an action flick (see Gadot as Wonder Woman) nor a lowbrow comedy (see Galifianakis in The Hangover series or maybe Masterminds), but just right in the middle, reminding me of a lower-key, suburban version of "Central Intelligence" (with even a few minor plot similarities). The acting is evenly shared between all four main characters (Galifianakis, Fisher, Gadot, & Hamm), with all performing well, but definitely not winning any Oscars.
Purchase this at a good price and use it to pass a stay-at-home Friday night once a year or so.
