    Awful machine

    • My Best Buy® MemberMember

Had a terrible experience with this dishwasher. The first one was installed on Jan 3. Water went in and drained out, but no signs of any washing taking place. Tried every cycle possible and dishes were still dirty every time. There were no sounds of water swooshing, etc. Soap was caked in dispenser and caked to bottom of dishwasher every time. Inside of machine was soaking wet with condensation at end of drying cycle. Best Buy gladly arranged for a replacement over the phone and the first one was picked up and second machine installed on Jan. 11. Installers actually let it run 20 minutes and they also concluded it did not sound like it was working correctly. Installers said it was the fourth machine with similar problems they had dealt with for this model in a two week period. Since it was already installed, they had me keep it and try again to see if it would clean anything using any cycle. Same issues as first machine. Went back to Best Buy store and picked out a different Kitchen Aid model (KDPE234GPS) which of course cost more. It was installed Jan 25. So far it seems to be working. So went over three weeks with no working dishwasher. Best Buy was great about the entire situation. Processed each return/exchange without hesitation. Each installation team was on time and did a great job. Not Best Buy’s fault- Kitchen Aid had a faulty product. Would not recommend this model to anyone. It is possible it was just a bad lot that the Dallas Best Buy stores received. Note: Did lots of research about dishwashers and have had two different Kitchen Aid machines over the past 20 years. The second one only lasted 8 years and had a control panel replaced after only 4 years. All dishwashers are terrible nowadays, including Kitchen Aid. Nothing like the machines made 20 years ago, so don’t expect it to be like the “one that lasted 20 years.” But Kitchen Aid at least still has a heating element to help dry dishes. I considered Bosch, but the cost was more and machines use condensation drying and lots of folks complain about an odd chemical smell due to the insulation material.

Timer and pump don't last long

Installed new July 15, 2014, declared dying March 1, 2018... just over 3 1/2 years old. Bought this house 4 months ago with newish appliances. At first the Kitchen Aid dishwasher was very quiet and ran well until all cycles were complete, until.... March 1. At the end of the wash cycle, the pump was making a whirring noise, the water flow from the hose to disposal was just coming out in heaving like spurts. I cleaned the filters and flushed the drain out with white vinegar... no change. Tried reset (flip off circuit breaker 1 hour). well that fixed the "lock" problem so it could actually do a wash cycle. But... the problem persisted. Bailed water twice. Finally got it to drain by opening and closing the door several times so it could heave a bit more, then it shut off.. had to push "start" twice to get it to purge more.. yep, like it was barfing until it hit the dry heaves then shut off. Start cycle just did another wash then quit. Never could get it to the "rinse" cycle or dry. Read the instructions again. Well, today I finally declared it brain dead. Too bad they don't make appliances as well as in the old days. My Kenmore clothes dryer is 30 years old and still runs great. My last Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator lasted 24 years. I'm getting a Bosch D/W tomorrow.

    Very quiet

Pros Noise: Extremely quiet. You don't hear it at all Racks: Adjustable. Accommodates larger/taller vessels. Space: Lot of space Rack Design: It is good in a sense that it does not move the objects while washing Cons: Side Vents - It has side vents. You want to make sure that the side vents are not blocked by the cabinet walls Installation - I got it installed by BB installer. He had difficulty aligning this dishwasher door, and he said it was because the walls of this dishwasher were not rigid, so it does not sit well if the cabinet walls are not completely straight. Not sure if this is right or wrong. But, What I know is that he spent a lot of time aligning the door. Washing - I tried normal, pro, and tough so far. In my opinion, tough wash gets better results. Normal and Pro is very average. And, this is for dishes that are not dirty. I usually prewash and remove any tough sticky stuff before putting it into the dishwasher. Heat/Dry - If I don't put rinse-aid, the heat/dry option does not come out good. My previous old, inexpensive Whirlpool dishwasher did a fantastic job just with air/dry. And, I find it a bit hard to pour Rinse-aid to that small hole without spilling all over. I had to use a funnel!! Also, it is difficult to see if I have filled it fully with the Rinse-aid.

Very quiet dishwasher and well made

    • My Best Buy® MemberMember

My home has a very open floor plan and the first criteria for a new dishwasher was that it must be very quiet. I reviewed dishwashers performance extensively before making my decision. The pros: - This model is very, very quiet and probably generates a very low hum if you are listening for it. - It is very sturdy. One quality I look for is the solid-ness of the doors to see if it will give a good seal. This model does as with other Kitchenaid products that I've purchased. - The utensil basket is great! There are removable covers on the sides so you can either use with cover to provide slats which help separate the utensils, or slide it open to put things like bottle tops, can tops in the basket. Or you can remove a cover to put larger - wider items that don't fit in the basket. And the basket is quite sturdy. - Adjustable rack is wonderful for putting those taller items in the top - The bottom rack tines are straight and have plenty of spacing for a variety of dish sizes. I feel I can load this dishwasher quite full. Other models I looked at have angled tines which prevent you from loading odd shaped dishes / pans. Cons: - Bottom rack only has 1 adjustable row of tines. It would be nice to have another row for adjustment.

    Very Good Dishwasher

    • Verified PurchaserVerified Purchase

This dishwasher was purchased as a replacement for another brand, which lasted about 10 years. Hopefully this new one will last just as long - it looks as if it probably will. It has a stainless steel interior, good quality, easy-rolling bearings to slide the racks in and out, plastic coated racks (sometimes those don't last so long, but these seems to be a very "tight" coating so hopefully OK). It has a clever silverware basket cover with slots that "hang" your silverware and keeps them from nesting, so they will definitely get a good water spray exposure. Drawback is that items with larger handles, like butter knives for example won't fit into the slots. But, the nifty cover is removable for either half or all of the basket, so you can have partial or full traditional open basket setup. Thoughtful design. The unit also runs extremely quiet. We have an open plan house and the old one could be heard running. This one is nearly silent. Labels on the dishwasher indicated USA design and manufacture, and it shows. Others in the store, made overseas, definitely didn't have as nice quality or features, even though they were cheaper. But, you get what you pay for. And made in USA means more people have jobs, so that's a good thing. Only drawbacks: It is recommended to use the detergent pods instead of powder or liquid. The pods are more expensive, but I see the advantage in much reduced residue inside the unit, and hopefully less wear and tear. Also, the wash cycle is pretty long. But, with that said, your dishes and silverware can go in there pretty darn dirty, and they come out excellently cleaned. This is probably the best cleaning dishwasher of 10 or so that I've owned / used over the years.

Sadly, awful experience with this dishwasher

    • My Best Buy® Elite Plus MemberElite Plus Member

I had to buy a new dishwasher after my 10-year old dishwasher broke down and I was bummed because it worked so well. I spent a month researching dishwashers and wanted an upper-mid-level washer. I bought this model on 3/10/2017 from the Best Buy in Greensboro. I had no issues with buying/delivery/install. I am using the recommended Cascade Platinum dishwasher soap. The problem I have is that it does not get my dishes clean. Also, another big issue for me is that it is not getting my dishes at ALL dry. I have tried multiple different setting combinations and different soaps over the past few months. If I wash the dishes and do not open up the dishwasher within a few days to unload them, my dishes develop mold. In order to make my dishwasher useful, I have to pre handwash the dishes so that they are mainly clean, then unload the dishes when they are done onto a dry rack to air dry, then put them away. Because of this, I have resorted to hand washing the dishes. It's just easier. If anyone has some advice on how to make my washer function better, please let me know... I feel like I am the outlier here since most of the other reviews are positive. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong or if I got a faulty machine.

    Kitchenaid Dishwasher

    • My Best Buy® MemberMember

We purchased the dishwasher from Bestbuy and had it delivered with no installation. We installed it and it took a while, but it's plumbing, plumbing is always a pain. The delivery was fine and they took away the old dishwasher, which was a Kitchenaid we had for 10 years. We compared the LG and Bosch to this one. The LG quality didn't seem on par to the other brands so it came down to this and the Bosch SHE53T55UC. In the end we decided on the Kitchenaid since we were familiar with the product line and had more features for this price point. In the end I think the Bosch line is good, but at a higher price point. It's a dishwasher so do you really need to spend $1000+? No, just get a good brand, decent warranty you're send. In the end we really like this dishwasher. The controls are easy to understand and it's so quiet I don't even know that it's on. I believe it runs at 44dbs and that's very quiet.

Excellent Dishwasher - Value for your money

    • My Best Buy® Elite Plus MemberElite Plus Member

We initially bought the 800 series Bosch Dishwasher because my sister-in-law had one and she recommended it. Many Bosch reviews also supported her recommendation. Upon buying and installing the Bosch, we were deeply disappointed. Either we got a single bad Bosch product or our dishes are a whole lot dirtier than most other people's. The most surprising thing for me as an engineer was how difficult it was to load the dishes in the 2 main drawers of the Bosch. Their 3rd drawer for ladles, spatulas, etc. was totally worthless as these dishes never got cleaned anyway. It was VERY DIFFICULT TO LOAD THE DISHES because of the way in which the spokes in the drawers are designed. We had paid nearly $900 for this Bosch. What a disappointment! We returned the Bosch and bought the KitchenAid. Best Buy was very good with the replacement process, giving us full credit because we returned the Bosch within 14 days. The KitchenAid is simply fabulous!!! It is easy to load and fantastic at cleaning the dirtiest dishes. It is also SUPER QUIET. Quieter than the Bosch which was one of the reasons we were given for Bosch being best dishwasher. Anyone who wants value and performance for their money will absolutely love this dishwasher from KitchenAid.
