  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: false (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: Does the kitchen aid 804 dishwasher have a larger capacity than the 604

A: Hello, for the 804/604 it is the same capacity. They are both 16.

Q: Does any KitchenAid dishwasher need salt for water softening?

A: I have a water softening system for my entire home, so all water coming through is softened. Growing up in my state hardwater was always causing rust or shortened lifespan of appliances. In my opinion having a water softening system would be a HUGE benefit if you want LESS or No calcification on your dishes, in your water lines, and appliances.

Q: Does this have a food grinder? Does it leave water in the filter area after each cycle that sits and stinks? Is the rinse water actually clean? Any issues with smell?

A: Pineapple, this Dishwasher does not have a food grinder. Hopefully, this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our KitchenAid Appliances!

    Gttat Dishwasher

Fantastic dishwasher - much better than the similarly priced Bosh unit it replaced. It's slightly less quiet than the uber-quiet Bosh but better in every other way. I especially like the huge 3rd rack which holds a surprising number of sizeable items: Regular coffee cups and 12 oz drink glasware, small cereal bowls and a plethora of flatware, knives, spatulas, etc. The Bosh unit's 3rd rack is a joke by comparison with nearly unusable depth, low quality glides and flimsy overall feel. The Bosh's middle rack glides better but no where near the quality of the Kitchenaid's super glides. I love the huge bottom rack's hefty utensil caddy that spans the front-to-back of the washer with a quality handle. The Bosh, OTOH sports a ridiculously small super-cheap comically flimsy utensil rack that seems like it came from an off-brand $350 dishwasher. What were they thinking? The dual-sided interior lighting in the Kitchenaid is useful and a novel useful feature for us. I love the easily accessible 1-to-24 hour delay feature for off-peak washing. The Bosh unit had *NO DELAY CONTROLS* on the dishwasher itself, a major fail. To set a delay you'd have to dig down multiple layers in the phone app to access it, uber-inconvenient! The Bosh had a downward projector telling you what phase the wash was in but NO indicator of when the cycle was complete! The projector was weak and difficult to read on sautlilo tiles. The Kitchenaid, OTOH displays an easily visible led indicator - blue for wash, red for dry and white when complete - simple and effective. Finally, the wash quality and drying are top notch, the drying superior to the Bosh unit. Overall, highly recommended

Great Performance, just don't get Black Stainless!

Picked this up as a display model. Install was a little more difficult due to having to acquire some parts that would normally be included. Cleaning performance is very good so far, and drastically quieter than the 10+ year old unit I replaced. The only negative is the black stainless, it looks really good but it's very fragile. As a display model it had a magnetic sign on it that left marks on the face that seem to be permanent. If I'd paid full price I'd be very annoyed at the ease of ruining the black stainless finish. Do some googling and black stainless gets similar complaints across all models, not just kitchenaid.

    Great Dishwasher

This dishwasher was a replacement for a 15yo KitchenAid and we were torn between the Bosch and this KitchenAid. Just getting used to the three racks and loading it differently than the old dishwasher but it holds more, is quieter, and uses less energy-plus it has an internal light for loading/unloading! The unfortunate part is that it is not inexpensive, but neither was the Bosch-but we are very happy so far with the purchase!
