I had a regular electric cooktop with the burners and have wanted to replace it with an easier to clean smooth cooktop. I had researched the KitchenAid line for the oven/microwave combo and dishwasher, so for continuity I looked also at this cooktop. It's perfect! Completely smooth to so it's a snap to wipe up. It has a super large, large and 2 regular sized burners. The controls are easy to use and work by touch. It's super fast too. Learning to love to cook again!

The ability to change the size of the cooking area on each individual cooking spot is awesome. Then, each can be set to one of ten heat settings. You can dial in exactly what you need. Add to that the "This area is still hot." warning that tells you a spot is hot without having to touch it. Really handy when your kids are learning to cook. They so easily forget a spot was hot and then put their hands down. Teach them to look at the warning first and it becomes something they pay attention to. And, not to mention, the glass surface so you never have to lift those burners and steel catches out to clean. Heaven.

I wish I could select 4.5 stars, as the two main reasons for 0.5 less than 5 is: 1. If you place anything on the area of the control buttons, the unit will beep and then shut-down. Can be vexing. 2. The simmer selection really does not provide a true simmer level of heat. Our experience is that it is too low, so we resort to just lowering the element temperature level to a 2 or 3. Performance-wise, we are very pleased with the cooktop. And the ULTRA POWER burner really heats-up water (for pasta) very fast. And we find that raising or lowering the temp level works rather quickly.
