Features

Tilt-head provides easy access to mixing bowl

Add ingredients even as it beats and mixes. Bowl locks into place, creating a stable mixing environment where beaters spin close to the sides, so you rarely need to scrape.

10-speed control offers a variety of mixing options

From a slow stir to a very fast whip, this mixer has a speed to suit multiple culinary needs. An electronic sensor maintains each speed for optimum results.

Combine ingredients with planetary mixing action

Revolving motion ensures that the blades touch the bowl at 59 points for thorough results.

325-watt motor

Effortlessly tackles even thick brownie batter and bread dough.

Pouring shield keeps batter in the bowl until you're ready to pour it out

The wide chute lets you add ingredients to the bowl safely and quickly, then transfer the contents with minimal mess.

5-quart mixing bowl accommodates large batches

Dishwasher-safe, stainless-steel bowl with comfortable handle is ample enough to mix dough for 9 dozen cookies, 4 loaves of bread or 7 pounds of mashed potatoes in a single batch.

3 beater attachments included for a variety of tasks

Dishwasher-safe, nylon-coated flat beater and dough hook for blending thick batters and kneading stiff bread dough. 6-wire whip injects air into eggs and cream for fluffy mousses and more.

Power hub fits optional attachments (not included)

Diversify your cooking and baking skills by adding attachments like a pasta maker, citrus juicer, ice cream maker and more. (Each sold separately.)

    Yes, great product, but...

I am from Italy, and I am working for a while in the US, so, I always wanted one of these mixers (Euro/Dollar change rate helped me a lot :) ) then it's the first thing I wanted in my kitchen. Best Buy had one of the best prices around, so... Let me say that when you open the box, the item is very very pleasant to see...well refined, all the things have glossy painting, very nice. But it has to work, as well, so I tried to do the thing I miss more here in the US: the bread (sorry guys, but we are used to another kind of bread, no offense :) ) I decided to try with a small amount, just to test the machine...well let me say that it's not the way this item is designed to work: the mix sticked to the hook, and it almost stop mixing, it just turn with the hook, so I had to stop the machine, tear it away, start again. A couple of times the mix divided in two parts, one staying in the bottom of the bowl, and, again, had to stop and put the mix togheter. Not that good, in my opinion. But keep in mind that this happened to me just for small quantities. When I tried to use it for some more bread, almost the full capacity (something like 4 cups of flour) the thing works great, the mix is perfect. A thing I didn't like is the speed: two seems to be too fast for bread making, one is somewhat too slow, you have to adjust it, because with two the mix tends to come up on the hook. But this may be just a question of adjusting my habits of using the machine. Anyway, I did mayonnase, whipped cream, beated whites, mix for pancakes and crepes, and bread and donughts and so on...just keep in mind that I had problems managing small quantities. Another thing I cannot understand is: if they sell a tool to make ice cream, why don't they sell a slow cooker? It would be nice to make soups, vegetables cream, rice, and a lot of other nice things, that is a great hole, it should be the first thing, with such a bowl. In Italy I have the worverk cooking machine which work this way and it is wonderful, it helps me a lot (and saves me a lot of times). In conclusion, if you bake, basically, and you make mixes (well, is a mixer, you are right) in the right amount, well, it's the right item: it does what is intended for, and nothing else. If you are alone, and you don't use it so often, or if you want something more versatile, well, you should try something else.

During the Christmas season I bake dozens of cookies - for years I have used a hand mixer. This year I decided to invest in a Kitchenaid - WOW, I am so glad I did! The performance is wonderful - my advice is to spend the extra money for the Artisan model with the splash guard. It really keeps your work surface clean.

I've had a large KitchenAid stand mixer for the past 30 years (the model with the arms that lift the bowl up to the beater head). It was starting to slow down finally, so I got the new Artisan version that had about the same wattage as the old one. The Artisan seems to have the power to do the same things, but the head unit that tilts up does not lock into place as securely as I would have expected. It tends to bounce up and down when it is doing the tougher jobs. I'm sure it will be a fine mixer for the every day stuff, and occasional really tough jobs I give it, though. My advice would be that if you do a lot of the really tough jobs, get the kind that does not have the tilt-up head.

After a few uses, the unit sparked, smoked, and shut down. It had a short circuit that caused my electrical breakers to blow out. Luckily no fire. The replacement has been working great and hasn't killed us yet.
