Keep up with the tools you use from preparation to the table with this dishwasher's three racks of versatile loading possibilities and complete wash coverage. The FreeFlex™ third rack fits glasses, mugs, bowls, silverware and cooking tools, freeing up room below for pots, plates, and mixing bowls. The advanced clean water wash system circulates clean water to dishes in all three racks, and the fan-enabled ProDry™ system provides thorough drying, so dishes come out ready for more enjoying.
FreeFlex™ third rack
The large third rack has a deep, angled design that fits 6" glasses, mugs, and bowls.
It features rotating wash jets to clean items in the rack, a drying bar with tabs that help wick moisture off glasses, and a removable utensil tray for cooking tools. (Among leading brands based on usable volume.)
Provides quiet cleaning without compromising performance, so there's no need to wait to run a wash cycle, while entertaining and enjoying meals, even in open concept kitchens.
Advanced clean water wash system
Uses microfiltration to continuously remove food particles during the wash and rinse cycles and circulates clean water to dishes in all three racks. This allows dirty cookware and delicate glassware to be washed together in the same load.
Utilizes sensors to measure soil levels throughout the cycle and adapts wash time and water temperature as needed for tough messes or lighter loads, because no two meals or the dishes that result are exactly the same.
Resists smudges and fingerprints. The specialized coating for stainless steel is easy to clean with just water and a soft cloth, so you can spend more time cooking and less time cleaning up the kitchen.
Adjustable middle rack
Adds flexibility to fit tall items, such as a stand mixer bowl. Lower the rack to place large dishes inside, or raise it to make room for platters, pitchers, blender jars and more in the rack below.
Extended ProDry™ option
Extends the cycle time by 15 minutes for loads that need extra drying time.
Durable stainless steel interior
Offers the beauty and benefits of stainless steel inside the dishwasher. It resists streaks, stains and odors, while retaining heat to help improve drying.
SatinGlide® rails in third and middle racks
Allow racks to move effortlessly, even when fully loaded.
Adjustable rows in middle and lower racks
Fold down to make room for dishes in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as roasting pans, serving bowls, colanders, and Dutch ovens.
Four stemware holders in middle rack
Secure wine glasses along the side of the rack to prevent them from moving around during the wash cycle.
Express wash cycle
Cleans in less time, so you always have the dishes you need while preparing, cooking, and entertaining.
Eliminates food soil bacteria.
Controls are tucked away on top of the dishwasher door for a clean look to match your kitchen style. An indicator light on the front of the door changes colors to subtly display cycle progress.
A dishwasher hookup kit is sold separately and is not included.
Required for Installation: All dishwasher purchases require a dishwasher hookup kit be purchased from Best Buy. Without a hookup kit, your installation will not be completed. Find a hookup kit in the accessories section on this page.
KitchenAid Top Control Built-In Dishwasher with Stainless Steel Tub, FreeFlex Third Rack, 44dBA
We have owned multiple dishwashers over the years and can honestly say that this Kitchenaid puts them all to shame. We have only had it a week, so can’t speak about the longevity. However, here are the pros so far: 1) so quiet you literally have to look to see if its on and our kitchen and living area are open; 2) seems very substantial in construction, e.g. door is much heavier than previous dishwashers; 3) really holds lots of dirty dishes, especially with the third rack; and 4) cleans the dishes really well. My only cons: doesn’t dry as well as I had hoped unless the pro dry option is selected; 2) not much flexibility for adjusting tines on bottom tray; and 3) I really dislike the silverware basket, it is way too large, taking up valuable space for dishes, and it cannot be split into two smaller individual baskets. I really think Kitchenaid needs to look at changing this to be more flexible. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend it to others.
After buying this dishwasher to replace a 4-year old dishwasher that did not dry or clean, I am amazed at how well this dishwasher cleans and dries, but also has 3 racks. I love, love this dishwasher and the 3-rack feature. I use all 3 racks, and it great to have so much space. It is unbelievable at how well it cleans & dries. It is also very quiet. I also like the delay feature, so I can run it later at night. I never thought dishwashing could be so fun and also has saved my back pain! Highly recommend!!!
This is the best dishwasher I have ever owned! I wish my old one would have died sooner! Dirty plates go in, sparkly clean ones (and they’re dry too!) come out. I can get 3 sauce pans, an instapot, 2 mixing bowls, soup pot, 10 dinner plates, 6 glasses and 6 mugs, a bunch of leftover containers all in one load and it cleans so well! Forget to run water over the dinner plate a few days ago? No problem for this dishwasher. I really want to just hang out at the store and tell anyone looking at dishwashers to get this one because I’m that thrilled by it. We have the 604 model with the extra drying power. The third rack is awesome and unlike other brands it can hold 12 glasses and a bunch of silverware. I put mugs with coffee marks on them or muffin in a mug with no prewash and it cleans them perfectly. It may be on the expensive end of dishwashers but it is absolutely 100% worth it!
Very satisfied with this dishwasher. This is my second kitchenAid and I am happy with the way the dishes get cleaned and come out dry!!! The third rack is nice, but I have not used it that much. I have had this a month and so far so good!
First the positive: It is large inside, fits everything our family of four dirties in one day. It also cleans well. I usually soak dishes in some water if they'll sit around all day so any dishwasher should clean it well. Finally, it's quiet, very quiet. We've had it for two months and use it daily. My big complaint is that it doesn't have a quick wash. The 'express wash' is an hour and ten minutes. Really? And if you don't stop it right after that it goes on drying for hours. This isn't what I want. Why not a half hour cycle like my old one? It should at least be an option for those who want it. I stopped it after an hour just to see and everything was perfectly clean. Annoying. My electricity bill went up. Some efficiency standards! Things that run for longer don't save energy, they use more. Don't tell me it is more efficient, I won't believe it. One more thing - the top rack is awesome. You can actually fit a lot up there like cups and spatulas and shallow bowls.
I know how hard it is to read reviews. Either the person hated the item and it murdered their family, or its great. I read all the reviews for this dishwasher on several sites including the manufacturer, Lowes, and Home Depot. Seemed like everyone loved it, and I agree. This dishwasher is amazing and does everything you need, and it gets the dishes DRY. The employees at Best Buy were useless and could not give a crap when I picked it up, but i was just glad they had it in stock. I did not trust some rando to install it so I paid a local trusted plumber to install.
Because my old Bosch dishwasher quit working during the Covid pandemic and going to a store to look around wasn't an option, I was distraught about having to select a new one. After researching online, I felt the KitchenAid with 3 racks would suit my needs. I ordered it sight unseen and it was installed within a week. The price was a little higher than I wanted to go, but I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I can load a whole day of dishes into it without fumbling around to find one more spot for the last dish. I use the ProWash and ProDry cycles and the dishes come out sparkling clean and completely dry. I feel like this is finally a product designed to do what it is supposed to do: make washing dishes a luxury and not an aggravating chore. It is also very quiet.
A:AnswerI contacted KitchenAid / Whirlpool about this exact same question. I too, could find zero differences between the 2 Models. KitchenAid searched & searched & they also, could find no differences. So, finally, after speaking with a Senior Person, they told me that the 804 is simply the Newer Model Year. So, as far as I could find out, that's it. To me, this means NEWER PARTS and potentially, slight internal Design changes that cannot be seen, like Power Supplies, Filters, Motors, etc. These are things that Engineering would keep track of; but, the general public could care less about. However, it would be nice if KitchenAid would put SOMETHING on their Web Site about this issue. Especially since the costs are so different.
A:AnswerI was compare shopping the 404KPS and 604KPS. The big difference I saw was the "Pro-dry" feature on the 604KPS. We spent the $100 and got the 604KPS. My wife says the Pro-Dry is worth the money. She says it works very well. It dries much better than any dishwasher we have ever had.
A:AnswerI hadn't tried till now, in order to answer your question, and there's a food trap that took all of 15 seconds to lift out. If there's another filter beyond that, I'd have to check the manual, which I don't have time for right now. Otherwise, this is the best dishwasher I've ever had, and well worth the price.
A:AnswerYes, you can remove both upper racks and the middle one can be moved up and down. The very top rack has a utensil rack that can also be removed. We cook a lot, and both my husband and I love the way this machine loads. The company clearly has put a lot of thought into it.
