    Synopsis

    Knight and Day
A single girl en route to a family wedding gets swept up in a fight between a rogue government agent and the FBI in this globe-trotting action comedy from director James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma). June Havens (Cameron Diaz) is preparing to board a flight back home for her sister's wedding when she literally bumps into Roy Miller (Tom Cruise) in the middle of a busy airport. A few minutes later, they're making small talk on the plane when June excuses herself to the bathroom, and all hell breaks loose in the fuselage. By the time June emerges Roy has killed everybody on board, including the pilots. After crash-landing the plane in a darkened cornfield, Roy tells June that she should expect a visit from government agents, but warns her that by cooperating with them she risks almost certain death. The following day, Roy's prediction comes true when June is confronted by an imposing gang of government spooks who come under heavy fire while bombarding her with questions about her mysterious traveling companion. Suddenly, Roy is back, and he's once again whisking June away to safety. But what do the agents want, and why do they insist that Roy is the one to be feared, and not them? Before long the girl who never traveled far from home is off on a wild adventure that will take her from the tropics to Austria, France, and Spain. Somewhere amidst all of the confusion and gunfire, June begins to forge a bond with Roy. Unfortunately, it's never quite clear whether her unpredictable protector is one of the good guys or the bad guys, and by the time Roy reveals that he's attempting to protect a valuable new energy source, there's no time for questions. Paul Dano, Viola Davis, Peter Sarsgaard, Maggie Grace, and Marc Blucas co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

      Just alternative packaging...

I won't write anything so much about the movie since it has been out a while...but rather the packaging. The movie was great. Typical Tom Cruise fare. It's good to see him return to a normal Hollywood action flick. Not really sure why this "Holiday Pack" was released. It contains the same Blu-ray and DVD included in the current Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. Nothing exclusive to differentiate it from the regular everyday combo pack. It actually comes with less since there is no digital copy included. The price difference is only a couple of bucks. The BD and DVD come in their own respective cases and are packaged side-by-side...which makes the packaging very elongated. It's nice presentation I suppose...but in hindsight I should've just gotten the regular combo pack so it could at least fit in my BD storage tower (and I would also have the digital copy).

When Tom Cruise is on, it can be great and in this movie he is above average. Even Cameron Diaz's performance is above average. My wife loves this movie and will watch it over and over, I enjoy it as well. The story line is actually interesting, and there's enough action throughout to make it watchable more than once. The Blu-ray edition is great, very good HD video and even better audio. The few extras are all HD and pretty decent, although a couple of them are odd. I would think twice to upgrade from DVD, but if you don't have it, then get the Blu-ray version. I waited until they put it on special sale, and with Elite Plus free shipping couldn't pass up the deal.

A film that doesn't take itself seriously.

I did not see this movie in the theater, however, I did pick it up on sale here on Best Buy. All in all, I enjoyed the movie. Although I can only take Cameron Diaz in small doses, she was tolerable in this role. Tom Cruise has really expanded his acting roles these days. You have this role, Tropic Thunder, and Rock of Ages. There is a lot of tongue and cheek action that makes you think, What the $%&* !! If you think of this as a serious action movie, then you won't enjoy it as much. I'm thinking that the director was trying to make a satirical movie about how outlandish some action movies are these days. Maybe I'm wrong, but for me, that's what makes this movie so entertaining.

saw this at a $ theater in the late summer for my birthday. WOOOHOOOOO!!! im not a fan of either tom cruise nor cameron diaz, but i love this movie. really love it!! so i bought it on blu ray!!! it has easily become one of my favorite movies to watch. great soundtrack too, it adds so much depth and gives the movie a good feeling throughout. shot all over the world in so many countries, i love it when they do that. the special features are good, but for a modern movie.....could have had more. no audio commentary? come on!! but other than that...a must have.

I'm really glad i decided to get the blu-ray combo pack i can honestly say that there is nothing about it that i don't like. 1. The blu-ray quality is top notch. 2. The storyline is very cool and funny all the way through. 3. The acting is spot on which is usually the case with these actors. 4. the special features were excellent and more than i expected. 5. i definately feel like i got my moneys worth on this one and thats a very good feeling to have at the end of the day.

This movie was one that I saw in the theater. I think the action scenes really work well to sell the overall package, but it also benefits greatly from the more comedic moments as well. It has some similarities in themes to movies like Mr. and Mrs. Smith and True Lies. The action is over-the-top and is used between what is almost a romantic comedy. It's a movie that feels like it kind of flew under the radar, but it shouldn't be missed if you enjoy fun action movies with exciting stuntwork.

The world is at stake and the authorities don't know what's what so it's up to Cruise's character to save the world. But, maybe Cruise might simply be insane. Cruise's character, like a lot of action characters in movies, has physical abilities that are a bit unreal. Diaz' character is pulled into the plot but she doesn't know who to believe or who is good or bad. It's all a bit unbelievable but it's all a lot of fun. I enjoyed the movie quite a bit.

I am not a super huge fan of Tom Cruise or Cameron Diaz, however, together in this movie they are outstanding. It was laugh out loud funny - Tom Cruise kills every scene! He dialed back his intensity and is able to laugh at himself (in character), and both he and Cameron Diaz are spot-on with physical comedy here. Just an entertaining movie when you just want to laugh and not have to think too hard about a convoluted plot.
