I’d assume that most people that are checking out Emily Haine’s solo work are fans of Metric. If you really enjoy Emily’s voice or songwriting, for example, you’ll likely enjoy “Knives Don’t Have Your Back” and “What is Free to a Good Home.” However, if you particularly like the sound of Metric or a similar style, be warned that Emily’s solo material is quite different—I’d describe it as more stripped down and way less poppy. That said, it’s really good, although I’m not the most objective judge, as I’ve enjoyed everything that both Emily and/or Metric have released. My advice: if you’re still interested, for the price, I’d buy both albums and decide for yourself. If you're only going to get one or the other, I'd recommend "Knives Don't Have Your Back."
