A Chinese archaeologist (Jackie Chan) teams up with an Indian professor (Amyra Dastur) and her assistant (Disha Patani) to track down a long-lost treasure. The trio navigate dangerous rebels and double crosses while hunting for the buried jewels in this action comedy written and directed by Stanley Tong.~Daniel Gelb
Kung Fu Yoga is a silly name that perfectly states what this type of movie is. Harkening back to Jackie's earlier films, Kung Fu Yoga really embraces the action comedy in this bonkers balls to the wall style action and moment it brings. The fight choreography is really great, and electric to watch. Heck, it feels like I'm a kid again watching the good guys beating up the bad guys while laughing. At times this movie is goofy, and at others the plot feels simple and cliches stitched together, but the heart and love that was put into this movie really pushes you along for a wild and fun right.
The special features are plentiful and equally entertaining as the film. I'd recommend buying this so that you can experience the behind the scenes and interviews with the cast and director as it makes you look at the film in a different light, and might even make you go watch it again like it did with me! Overall, Kung Fu Yoga is a great family film that feels like it came out maybe 20-30 years ago, but set in the modern world. If you're a Jackie Chan fan this is a must.
I am a Jackie Chan fan and this film was classic Jackie. Therefore, I rated it good. It was clean, fun and entertaining. As usual Jackie shows us his humorous and energetic kung-fu moves with a typical "Jackie" story line. If you like his movies you will be pleased. I was pleasantly surprised when they wrapped up the film in classic Bollywood style.
