Best Bang For Your Buck
Posted .I went out looking for a new bass amp to upgrade an old Peavey I was using and had this amp suggested to me by a guy at the local music store. I wasn't even going to consider it because of my previous experiences with Kustom amplifiers. Until now, the only experience I had with Kustom was the cheap $100 practice amps they sell at Walmart and the like. I decided to say what the heck and try the amp in the store. To my amazement I was impressed by the sound that the amp gave in the store, so I decided to research it further. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a single review for it anywhere online. Taking into consideration the stores return policy I decided to give it a shot and bought the amp and the DE410h 4x10 cabinet to go along with it. Patiently I have waited to get with the band for a full test, and tonight was the night. Let me say, this amp earned every penny I spent on it tonight. My lead guitarist is running a 250w Bugera head with a 4x10 cabinet, and for the first time tonight, I didn't have to struggle to hear over him. Even playing heavily on the B string of my five, the amp showed no signs of clipping or struggling to faithfully reproduce the sound. It has a very tight punch, and thanks to the tube pre-amp, an extremely warm sound with good distortion crunch. I've always used a multi-effects pedal to get the right sound out of my bass, but now I am so happy with the sound the amp gives me straight I think the effects pedal may get retired. To explain why I only gave the amp a 4 on durability, please bear in mind that I just got the amp a week ago, so I really can't comment on that yet, you'll have to ask me again in about a year. It does come with a five year warranty though, so I'm not too worried about it. I know there aren't many reviews out for this product, but if you are on a budget and can't quite swing a GK or Ampeg, don't be afraid to take a chance on this one, you will find it to be the best bang for your buck!
