I bought this drive to use as a Time Machine drive for my Mac Studio M2 Max. It's powered by the USB-C port, so you don't have to plug it in to a powerstrip or wall outlet. It's quiet and responsive. I found that some older portable drives weren't readable by my M2 MacBook Pro, but this drive works with all Apple M-chipped devices. It's easy to format and has worked perfectly. I also have 2 Lacie 10 TB thunderbolt drives that have served me well for almost 3 years so far - Lacie drives have been good to me! Also, this is a quiet drive as well.
