Synopsis

At the center of the LEGO Multiverse lies an ancient planet that is inhabited by the evil mastermind, Lord Vortech. It is believed that the person who controls the Foundational Elements on which this planet is built will control all of the Multiverse. Vowing to become that ruler, Lord Vortech determines that by summoning characters from a variety of LEGO worlds, he'll be able to find the building blocks of the LEGO civilization. One day, a mysterious and powerful vortex appears in a variety of LEGO worlds, and different characters from DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie and more are swept away. Noticing their friends are being taken, Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle jump into the vortex on a journey they never imagined. Now, realizing Lord Vortech's intentions, the three intrepid heroes must venture through space and time to save their friends and all of LEGO humanity.

Team up with the Caped Crusader, Gandalf the Great and Wyldstyle from The LEGO Movie to vanquish Lord Vortech and save LEGO humanity from annihilation in LEGO Dimensions. This Starter Pack delivers everything you need to begin your buildable adventure, including a copy of the game, LEGO Toy Pad, bricks to construct the LEGO Gateway, three minifigures and the LEGO Batmobile vehicle. Let your creativity and imagination guide you on your adventure, as you'll team up with unlikely allies from a variety of worlds, including DC Comics, The Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, LEGO Ninjago, Back to the Future and more, to thwart your enemies. Fun but Pricey

I like the game so far. Typical LEGO humor. First time Batman and The Scarecrow meet each other is priceless. This is really a video game AND LEGO sets. So you will be building a LEGO set like if you just bought a normal kit. I think that is how they justify the price tag. The cost is the real negative of this game. I may be wrong but if you are an achievement hunter you MAY be out big bucks just to 100% this title. It seems to me like you will need to buy a bunch of extra sets in order to find all of the hidden stuff. The other issue I have is that a lot of the puzzles require you to reposition the figures on the portal. I find this annoying and unnecessary, my 7 year old nephew loves it though. Losing pieces may be an issue as well for the toy part of this game, I dont think it matters as far as playing the video game part as everything is just in the base anyways. If you dont mind spending all the cash on this money pit and your kid likes building LEGO sets then buy it. If building sets isnt really their thing just buy one of the many other LEGO titles out there that have all the characters unlockable in game.

Fun, but has some big glitches

Fun, but it has frustrated me beyond belief, in large part due to a glitch that caused my game to be completely unplayable, with the only apparent solution (according to support so far) is to start my completed-game save over again. I cannot recommend this game knowing that this could happen to anyone, at any point in the game. This game truly is a lot of fun, with a lot of great service to the various franchises involved but man does it have some glitches, some that may break your game/save altogether forcing you to start over and can be very time-consuming to try to fix before eventually just starting over. Of course it also gets expensive if you want to access every area and do everything, but that's just the nature of the Toys to Life style of games anyway. But keep in mind the game can be very glitchy, in my case the point where I've had to start my game over twice. Here's a couple of glitches that you should be aware of: 1. If you care about the achivements/gamerscore: If the controller disconnects during a level for any length of time, you are very unlikely to receive the achievement for beating that level and have to start over, hoping the controller doesn't disconnect again. This is particularly bad if playing two player. We've replayed levels 2 or 3 times just to get the achievement, not for one specific level but for several. Other achievements will still trigger. 2. There are keystones that will appear in-game around the portal after beating some of the first few levels. I don't know what triggers it, but in some cases these won't display, and you may even lose some that have appeared. The biggest problem I had with this, is that after the levels instructions appear to update the portal. If this glitch happens to you, you won't see these instructions. This is mostly cosmetic, I understand that. But it seems like a pretty simple bug that I wouldn't expect out of a game this expensive. It shows a lack of polish, and the lack of instructions appearing shook my confidence that I wasn't missing something else that could actually be important. And the biggest one of all? 3. After starting over previously, and finally beating the game, getting all the level-completion achivements, getting many red bricks and completoing as much of several adventure worlds as I could I started up the game and a glitch with the bits bar occurred where it loaded in the middle of the screen and there was no counter for the number of bits I had received. I restarted the game once I found a spot where it wasn't saving, was taken to the usual Vorton area and now I can't do anything except maybe upgrade a vehicle or turn on/off red bricks. Anything that allows me to select a level is completely unavailable and I can't even get to the Adventure World area to select one. Here's a video showing the glitch in-game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOqQzWrDPH0 if you care at all. I've contacted Support about the Keystone issue and the broken-game glitch and the only things that they had me try was uninstall the game and reinstall in a number of different ways including removing the Gamer Profile from the console. None of these have helped yet. This can take hours thanks to a 5.5GB update if you're internet isn't particularly fast.

Before you judge me on why i would buy three copies of the same game. I have two copies at my house for my kids and 1 copy at my parents house for my kids. We love legos and we have every lego game for xbox. I have this game on the xbox 360 and the xbox one. Because of the 2 gamer restrictions i have three kids and with thier friends coming over, it was just eaiser to have two copies for entertainment. This game rock and the additional characters help you play the same game in multiple ways. Can't wait for next years edition.

I hated disney infinity, and so I was concerned about this. Then I started playing, and as Gandolf rode a Dalek through Gotham I realized that I had discovered the greatest game ever. Its a very well done genre mix for people of every caliber and my daughter loves playing it with me.

I have loved the LEGO video games since I got the first Star Wars game for my Nintendo Game Cube. Dimensions has brought all of the great mechanics from their games and added a whole lot of new stuff to create this masterpiece. Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle are able to interact with a lot of the special mechanics and they are the only characters you need to complete the storyline (I'm only about half of the way through but I assume the rest is the same). They also give you access to the open worlds of DC, Lord of the Rings, and The LEGO movie. It is so much fun to build the LEGO's as you go through the game. This game is humongous! I now have characters from 7 of the worlds and there continues to be more and more stuff to do. One down side is that you will need to purchase at least one character from each world if you want to complete everything. There are some mechanics that can only be completed by one character (i.e. Unikitty is the only character that can interact with rainbow bricks). The good thing is that, if you have your hints turned on, they will tell you which characters, vehicles, or gadgets can work with each thing. If you love LEGO's and video games, this is the perfect game for you.

Bought for my son but I find myself playing this as much or more than he does! Bought some extra fun packs and it's amazing how much fun this game is. I especially like the Ghostbusters pack (and my 6yo son too!).
