    Synopsis

What are the qualities that make up a super hero, in your opinion? Do they have to have incredible strength? Or is it more important to have a heart of gold and a strong defense? Is it a requirement that they have the most advanced and innovative technology out there? Maybe you'd prefer a hero who can do things that no ordinary human can do. Whatever your opinion, the Marvel universe has a super hero for you. Everyone has their favorite — that one hero that you think can take on any villain and always end up saving the world in the end. In LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, you get the chance to become your favorite hero. With the likes of more than 100 celebrated characters from the Marvel sphere, including Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine and The Hulk, at your fingertips, you've got your bases covered. So villains, such as the nefarious Loki, better watch their back.

Dive into a world that combines the classic videogame adventure and humor that LEGO is known for with the exciting comic book world of Marvel. In a thrilling original storyline, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes takes you on a wild ride as you fight to stop Doctor Doom, Loki and a host of other Marvel villains who have joined together to recover the broken pieces of the Silver Surfer's board in order to assemble a super weapon that gives them the power to control the world. Explore the iconic city of New York with a LEGO twist as you chase down Cosmic Bricks and battle super villains, and visit other iconic Marvel locations, including the X-Mansion, Stark Tower, Asgard, Asteroid M and an abandoned Hydra Base. No matter which hero you choose, there's an array of amazing strengths and awe-inspiring abilities at your disposal. Iron Man can fly, hover, shoot missiles and unleash a powerful energy beam straight from the Arc Reactor. Spider-Man's powers include shooting webs, using his heightened senses to spot objects that are invisible to others, crawling up walls and, of course, web swinging. Throw Captain America's shield at objects or enemies, embed it into a wall to create a platform or use it to deflect lasers and protect him from damage. BIG-fig characters, such as The Hulk and Abomination, can smash through LEGO walls and throw cars with hyper strength. Or you can create your own, unique super hero with customizable abilities. The world is in danger — are you ready to become a Super Hero?

You'll never find a bigger Marvel fanboy than I. I was RAISED on Iron Man, Spider Man, the Fantastic Four, Ant Man, Miss Marvel, The X-Men, and the rest of the gang. Any time Marvel puts out a game, no matter what, I ALWAYS give it a chance. When I heard that WB (who basically owns and creates most DC Comics games) was pairing up with Tt games to create a Marvel game, I laughed out loud. How could this DC centric company make a Marvel game? (I mean come on, "Injustice" anyone???) Having said that, the positive part of this review ends. While I'm proud of WB games for making this game, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. The cast of characters is AMAZING, and they covered virtually every single hero and villain from the Marvel Universe that I'd have wanted to see in a game. The unfortunate aspect is that it is a Lego game, and, even though there's voice acting (because the grunting in past Lego games was getting ANNOYING) and an amazing cast with proper set pieces, the content just isn't there. Honestly, how many times can you defeat some random, easy bad guys, pick up some Lego things (buttons? blocks? coins? I can never tell) and move on. This game gets a 6/10 from your pal Shaadow, and the only reason it ranks that high is because it's Marvel, and everything Marvel creates is gold in my eyes. However, after playing through the storyline, and having to go back and forth to different levels using characters I've unlocked in order to get to areas and items I couldn't get to before, I just got REALLY tired of the grind. I'm sure this game is great for younger children who want a minimum challenge and to be rewarded for the easiest of keystrokes, and It's a Marvel fanboy's dream, but this game does NOT stack up.

The game is a cute adaptation of the Marvel characters. You have an artillery of characters that you can choose from (Which is fantastic). The story is all right. The reason I have this a 3 is that it lacks an effective risk vs reward system. What I mean by this is that it is nearly impossible to lose. Additionally, I was unable to find any methods of changing the difficulty of the game. Without any challenges, I grew quite bored with the game. That being said, most people who reviewed the game are very family oriented and have little kiddies they play with. In terms of that, this game would be appropriate since having a difficult game could cause negative environment. However, with no challenge, there is no glory or very little satisfaction with completing anything. It loses that element of forming a bond with those you are playing with to accomplish greater and more challenging tasks.

This game has been completely engaging for my two girls. The levels are fun and force some good strategic thinking on how to complete certain things. Unlike the newer Lego games you get new players by advancing to different levels instead of having to spend extra money to buy additional packs. That is also a real plus so once a character is earned you can go into the city with that character. My only criticism is that multi player views are not as clean as with the newer Lego dimensions. It's almost as though Lego perfected it in the newer version. At times it can be a bit disorienting. That being said that is my only criticism of the game and other than that it is extremely well done, thoroughly engaging, and will give weeks and months of entertainment. Absolutely love it.

Lego Fun in the Marvel Universe

If you have played the Lego games before you know what you're getting into: a comedic take on the Marvel Universe using everyone's favorite building block characters. Like most other games in the same franchise this game offers a bevy of levels and a giant cast of characters with unique abilities in a driven story mode or (for the completionist) a "free mode" where you can pick your own characters and use the combination of their abilities to find all the secrets. This game appeals to a more casual gamer, but offers objectives such as finding secret bricks or collection an inordinate amount of coins. These side tasks while fun will become more grueling than they are worth. If you like Marvel, or grew up loving Legos like I did - you will definitely find a more than a few enjoyable hours with this game.

I've played Lego Jurassic World and Harry Potter, and I would say this game is easily the most difficult. I tried playing it with my girlfriend and it was about as challenging as she would like to play (she introduced me to Lego games with Harry Potter). An 8-9 year old who is really interested could probably play this game. That being said, I had fun with this game. The characters offer plenty of variety, which is my favorite part. The puzzles are a bit challenging, but not frustrating. Probably one of the better Lego games for those who have played a number of video games before.

I'm 29, this is my first Lego game. I got it to kill some time until a good game comes out and can't believe how much I like it. The abilities of the heroes are awesome and the sound is great. The animations when a character is fighting are very amusing. It's also a huge game, which I had no clue about when I got it. Its open world and linear when you go in to buildings, remarkable. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I can put it down for days, I haven't gotten completely wrapped up in it like I do to my favorite games.

While I was working with a sales associate to purchase the XBox One for my eight year old son, a second associate was playing this game with my son. My son could not leave this game alone. Even after the second associate went back to his other responsibilities, my son continued to play the game. Of course, when I was asked, "Can I get you anything else," my son asked if we could purchase this as well. It still remains his favorite game on the XBox One gaming console, and it was really just an after thought while we were in the store.

If you are a fan of the Lego games and like the Marvel universe, picking up a copy of this game is no-brainer. There is a lot of playability in the open areas of the game and there are numerous characters with various abilities to play. While Iron Man is still my favorite, the numerous other characters add a lot of variety and variation to the gameplay.
