I want to preface this review by saying that I bought and exchanged FIVE laptops in the 2 weeks leading up to this purchase. None of them were able to deliver on the 5 things I was looking for:
-Portable
-High quality materials and touchpoints
-Good sound quality
-OLED touchscreen
-Able to run some light games
I went through:
A Samsung Galaxy Book3 13" 2-in-1. Looked gorgeous and was super light, but ultimately the screen resolution and gaming ability was a big letdown. The OLED was also not very bright.
A Lenovo Yoga 9i 14" 2-in-1. Also looked amazing, had really cool and different looks to it, had a better screen than the Galaxy, and had the new AI features of Win 11 and the Intel i7 Evo platform, but had bad gaming capability.
A 2024 HP Spectre X360 14" 2-in-1. Loved the design and elevated materials, the OLED was beautiful, and the battery life was crazy good. Even with Intel Arc integrated graphics it was not enough for what I was looking for.
A Lenovo Slim Pro 7. Simple design, fantastic value, a Nvidia RTX 3050 discrete graphics card, but the IPS screen and the plastic materials left me wanting something better.
A Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio. Cool and unique design with the 2-in-1 screen flip. The cooling was really good, even with the Nvidia RTX 4050, but it was still lacking power due to the CPU. I also did not like the fact that Microsoft includes no accessories, yet asks for $2,600 for this laptop. It's also the heaviest and is hobbled by the stupid Surface Connect - not great for portability.
Enter: the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i - this thing is amazing. I know it is the most expensive out of all the laptops (except for the Surface), but I am convinced that it is the best choice for anyone looking for the same features that I am. It's portable, slightly over 3lbs, includes a beautiful Mini-LED touchscreen that gets eye-searingly bright. It is able to run Cities Skylines II on ultra settings with 4K resolution, and it has a very nice metal finish. I'm very impressed.
The only let-downs so far for me are the limited battery life, and the finish on the keyboard. I know am really nitpicking here, but it was hard to come up with some cons. It only lasts 2hrs while gaming on the RTX 4050, and about 6-7hrs while using it for general use. The keyboard is the same color as the laptop body, and has the same metallic finish, but with the lettering in white font. Unfortunately, overhead lights cast glare on the keys and make it very difficult to make out the letters when you need to look at it.
I'd also say that it's not the best value and personally would look for it on-sale or in open-box condition. I got mine via open-box and it was in perfect condition.
A HUGE thanks to Best Buy and their Best Buy Total Membership for allowing me to open and use 5 brand-new computers and return them all in such a short span of time. It really made it easy to find the best fit for me!

Other than mediocre battery life (not saying it's bad, I can still squeeze around 7hrs from it), this laptop is very competent in almost all aspects:
- 14.5" size with 140w USB-C charger, very travel friendly
- 165Hz/HDR-1000/3K/Mini-LED touch screen is an eye candy
- i7 13705H + 32GB RAM qualifies it as a workstation for years to come. Make no mistake, it's slightly faster than the new Ultra 7 155H
- RTX 4050 is actually quite performant (only 15% slower than 4060), and is basically a RTX 3060 with newer features like DLSS3 while using far less power
- Keyboard is one of the best in its class, better than Slim Pro 7, ThinkPad X1, and Surface Laptop Studio
- Speakers are excellent, even slightly better than Yoga 9i and significantly fuller than Surface Laptop Studio
- Solid build quality, while easy to open up and maintain
- Plentiful ports and serviceable 1440p webcam
- Decent cooling performance for a small laptop that can pump 100+ watts
For a Windows-based high performance 14" professional laptop, this is still one of the top choices in 2024.

I have experience with many different laptops including several generations of MacBooks Pro, Dell XPS, ThinkPad Extreme, Surface Laptop Studio, and others. I picked the Slim Pro 9i as my new daily driver because it checked the right boxes for me. My usage includes web, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (mostly Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat), watching YouTube, and some light gaming.
The 14.5-inch 165Hz Mini-LED screen is bright and beautiful. It’s one of the most beautiful screens I’ve seen on a Windows laptop. The 16:10 aspect ratio (taller screen) is great for productivity.
The keyboard is crisp and snappy with a generous 1.5mm key travel and has an auto backlight based on ambient lighting (can be adjusted in the Vantage app). As someone who misses the deep key travel on older laptops, I find this a pleasure to use.
The trackpad is decent. It’s not the best, but it’s also not the worst. I’ll leave it at that.
Audio is four speakers with Dolby Atmos and it sounds fantastic. Great bass.
The processor is a 14-core 13th Gen Intel i7-13750H. Memory is 32GB LPDDR5x at 6400MHz (not upgradable, but not a deal breaker for me). Storage is 1TB SSD (Gen 4) and this *is* upgradable. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 is decent for light gaming. I was surprised and impressed that the laptop didn’t get overly hot nor did the fans become overly loud while gaming.
One of the biggest standout features (and a big reason why I chose this laptop) is… PORTS! Two USB-A, one USB-C/Thunderbolt 4, one USB-C (charging port), and HDMI 2.1. The laptop also features a full-size SD card slot, headphone/microphone combo, and a physical webcam disable switch.
There is a power/charging light to indicate if power is connected and charging status. There is also a power light on the right to see if the laptop is currently on, sleeping, etc.
The overall build quality is solid. It’s not the flashiest laptop, but one that I would describe as understated elegance. It’s remarkably light (around 3.7 pounds) and portable.
If I could change anything about this laptop, I would make the screen slightly larger at 15-inches, include Home/End/Page Up-Down navigation keys to the right of the keyboard (which would also allow for full-size up/down arrow keys), switch to a haptic trackpad, and move power/charging to a dedicated port and include two full USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Overall, I’m happy with the Lenovo Slim Pro 9i. No laptop is 100% perfect, but this one checks the boxes that matter most to me – powerful, great screen, great keyboard, and ports/connectivity.

3 stars. It is okay.
Beautiful screen
Very bright screen
Touch works great
Powerful performance
I like the keyboard
Touch pad good
Now that I started off positive, let me rant.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE battery life. It says 6-8 hours. NO. I only use it on power saving mode and it will last me maybe 2.5 hours. Maybe I got a defective one? I'm lucky 2/4 of my classes have a charger on the desk or I wouldn't be able to get through my day! I can watch it drop % minute by minute.
Fans are so loud. I have to keep it on power saving mode or else the "extreme performance" or "Intelligent cooling" sounds like a jet engine.
It has software issues! Sometimes when I close the laptop and then open it again, I can't move my mouse for 10 seconds. Or chrome won't respond and I have to close it. When I turn it on, I can't move the mouse for 10 seconds maybe. Randomly, it has just decided to freeze on my completely.
For $1800 these issues are unacceptable. I don't understand how a MAC of equal performance can get 18 hours of battery and this machine gets 2 hours. Lenovo needs to take some notes. I hate mac OS and how expensive they are but man, they don't have software issues and battery lasts at least.
I wouldn't buy again but can't return at this point so I'm stuck with it I guess. Also a warranty bought through Lenovo is half the price of Geek squad.

Pretty good laptop. Its quick pulling up websites and apps. Runs games like minecraft and Civ VI well, although gets choppy every once in a while. Sisplay quality looks crisp. Battery life is meh. It can run for about 5 hours maybe more I haven't really timed it. It charges pretty fast though. Also the speakers are kinda buzzy, but I use headphones so it isn't a huge deal. Overall I am satisfied with it and think it was worth the price for sure.

I rated it four stars solely because the battery life is disappointing at just four hours. I'm not willing to switch to battery saver mode as it compromises the full experience that the device offers. However, the screen quality is exceptional, and you won't be let down by the build quality either.
A:Hi, Uj. This model features Windows 11 Home, enabling users to access Copilot at any time using the taskbar shortcut, if enabled, or by using the key combo of the Windows button + C. However, for disclosure, this model features an Intel Core i7-13705H processor, which does not have an NPU for more efficient AI processing.
A:There isn't a 1TB SSD option at Best Buy, and I don't believe Lenovo sells it directly that way either.
Upgrading the SSD can be done, but it is a whole can of worms that you are opening. If you are handy with laptops, go look up videos on YouTube or look up the manual to see how it is done. There are screws under rubber feet, which may lose their adhesiveness after being removed and might require you to buy replacement feet, depending on how picky you are.
Alternatively, if you have a Microsoft 365 Personal/Family subscription, you could use OneDrive to offload files to the cloud and freeing up your storage space on the laptop itself.
Hope this helps!
A:I would recommend you look for a Thunderbolt dock, since they will connect the laptop to peripherals and also charge the laptop at the same time.
You don't have to get a Lenovo dock, but if you prefer it, here is an example of one that should work:
