Lenovo Smart Clock Essential - Soft Touch Gray

Automatically resets time/date/temperature/ when moved from one room to another. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential also uses voice commands to set alarms. The Smart Clock and also find your phone just by asking “Hey Google call XXX-XXX-XXXX” and it will ring your phone. That’s a big help for me as I’m always forgetting where I put my phone. The Google Home app is easy to follow and gives instructions on how to set up different smart devices that use Google. Unfortunately, it is NOT compatible with Amazon devices. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential front view shows time and temperature on the screen as well as the local weather conditions using a small icon on the bottom left of the screen. If you prefer your local temperature in C you can just ask Google to switch to either C or F. The back has a USB port and a mute button. The USB port comes in handy for charging your devices. The Smart Clock display is nice and big so you can check out the time from across the room. Just by saying “Hey Google” you can ask it questions, play music, control smart home devices, and more. It also features a built-in nightlight, speaker, and microphones. I love setting my alarm by just asking, "Hey Google, set my alarm for tomorrow morning at xxx o’clock," and the clock will answer you. Check the weather, set timers for cooking, set reminders, and research facts. The Lenovo Smart Clock lets you set multiple alarms and appointment reminders just by asking it. The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential has a built-in nightlight that lets you get up at night without stumbling around looking for a light switch. The Lenovo Smart Clock lets you play your favorite music playlists, radio stations, audiobooks, podcasts, and more. All you need is your voice—just ask Google and listen. Or just tap the Play Music icon on the GOOGLE HOME app and start streaming your playlist straight from the clock. The amazing ability of the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential to control over 40,000 compatible smart devices from 5,000 brands is a big plus. Ask Google to set the temperature, dim the lights, and more. Just start with “Hey Google.” I haven’t used all the different functions yet, but I have used it to make sure my front door is locked, set alarms, use the nightlight, listen to podcasts and music. Its small size fits perfect on my nightstand without taking up a lot of room. Controls my August Smart Lock, Sirius XM radio, Android playlist, and more. I recommend it for everyone as it is not only is a great alarm clock, but it has so many other functions in such a small package, that makes it practical as well as fun.

I absolutely love my Lenovo smart clock from last year so when I heard there was going to be another model the Lenovo smart clock essential, I wanted to get my hands on one. Overall its basically just a google assistant speaker with a display and alarm click functionality built in. This new model looks very pleasing from its black glossy display all the way to its fabric body. First I'm going to compare it to last years model a because, well it serves the same purpose but at a cheaper price. The biggest differences between this model and last years model is this device is about a inch shorter but same width and depth. The screen is not a touch display and you cannot change the display to customize it. It also has a added alarm button that you can use to manually set alarms. Another new feature includes a night light on the back of the unit which is a great little added touch. The display itself is very bright and really easy to read in bright lit and dark rooms. It does this by using light sensors and adjusting to room brightness which is really cool. It brightens up during the day and dims down at night. It includes three brightness settings so you can customize as needed. The display is back and white and actively displays the time, day of week, current weather, and alarm icon if an alarm is set. Basically everything you would need to know on a alarm clock. As for setting a alarm you can use the alarm button on the top or just use your voice which is way easier. "Hey google set alarm for 7 am Monday through Friday" and its done. "Hey google cancel alarm" and its gone. When the alarm goes off you can smack the clock to snooze which is my favorite feature. Since its a google assistant speaker you get all that assistant functionality which includes playing music from streaming services. The speakers are nothing to brag about but on a device this small but you wouldn't expect them to be great anyway. No better than most traditional radio clocks. Oh and it also includes a single usb port to charge your phone, smart watch, etc. As I mentioned above it has a night light built in that you can activate by button or voice. If you ever want to disable the assistant functionality there is a hardware switch on the back to disable the microphone. Overall this is a great little clock for any room. If you looking for a smart clock thats easy to read with minimal features then this will serve you well. If you want a little bit more functionality with a slightly bigger display then go with last years model. Either way get one because they are great!

OK it took me nearly 2 weeks to figure out why a smart clock wouldn't set an voice command alarm. It's a Google bug, not the product's fault. Here's how I fixed it: 1) check your location by saying "hey Google what's my location" obviously middle of the Atlantic Ocean was not correct. 2) set new location address in your Google Home App, change the title from "Home" to let's say your neighborhood name. Mix up the address so things are slightly different but it's still your address. Ex: St. becomes Street, N. becomes North etc... 3) port over your previously added smart devices under the new location. Add them to the desired room in your new location. Don't worry all of your previous smart device preferences will port over. 4) make your new neighborhood title location your new home location. 5) Say "hey Google set at alarm for 9 AM." Worked like a charm. 6) delete original "Home" location. Note: to get back display auto brightness, do a hard reset on the clock (hold both volume down + alarm button) for 12 seconds, follow voice message. Never use a voice command to adjust the screen brightness again. Really hope Lenovo fixes this with a software update as the clock is still very bright in a dark room.

A good addition to any room in the house. Integrated easily to my google home setup. Added to my home, assigned a room and was turning on and off light right away. Looks great in the dark, especially with the night light function.

I recently bought this clock just so that I can know the time in my spare room. But after getting this clock I realized it’s so useful the “hey google” feature is awesome. The clock does have Bluetooth and works with my Apple Music which made me happy.

I replaced my 4 year old Best Buy Insignia Voice Clock Speaker with this one. I use these for simple bedside use (I didn't need or want another device/tablet type clock system next to me at bedtime), so these are my opinions for that purpose exclusively. I Love this unit over the Insignia model. The physical buttons vs the hand gestures on the Insignia are easier to use, when you don't want to use voice commands. The Clocks digits are larger, easier to see, and its easier to adjust the overall brightness of the screen. The Screen does adjust automatically to the ambient light in the room, but you can also adjust to your preferences. The mic is way more responsive than the Insignia. The speaker sound is great for bedside use! The Insignia had a "fuller/deeper" sound, but IMO was too "punchy" for bedside use, I rarely used the Insignia speaker because of this reason. This speaker has better balance/clarity for bedside/nighttime usage. I love the weather icon, and the larger easier to read temp display. The Night light is AWESOME! I've used it every night now, and found that if you hold the volume down button, it toggles the night light on and off without having to use voice commands. I don't use the alarm features, but I tested it and it works great. You can set it for a gently alarm sound, or to wake to a music station on one of the radio/music apps in the google home system. The only (minor) negative is the silly zero displayed ahead of the hours between 12:59 and 9:59 am/pm, but I'm already used to it. The ability to charge your phone via the USB on back is another bonus. For the $25 I paid for this unit, I am Extremely Happy with this Simple "Do Everything", clock, speaker, night light, alarm unit! I have been waiting for this simple type of unit for many years!

The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential is a Smart Clock with integrated Google Assistant. Measuring a tiny 4.5"W X 3"H at the front & it tapers down dramatically in the back. With it's Soft Touch Gray, it blends in & fits in virtually every room. See 6 photos I posted, showing the very attractive shape. This Smart Clock offers the full power of the Google Assistant by simply saying: "Hey, Google". I use it to set wake-up alarms, turn lights on & off using various Smart Switches & Smart Bulbs throughout the house; it even plays music! I check to make sure I locked the doors & lock any that are unlocked. The small size of this powerful Smart Clock belies it's amazing capabilities. One of my favorite features is displaying the outdoor temperature below the time. This is the default screen with which this Lenovo ships. I find it so useful, I am keeping that screen unchanged. CONCLUSION: I have many places for this most useful tool: the Master Bedroom, the 2) Guest Bedrooms, any of 5 Bathrooms, even in my Home Office. There is no other device near this size that performs with the Lenovo Smart Clock Essential. I highly recommend it.
