I was able to purchase this on sale about 50 bucks less than the normal price. I dropped 1 star because the first unit had to be exchanged; the screen brightness could not be adjusted - full brightness all the time - drivers updates did not help. Unit is very thin and light - ultra portable. battery run-time is usually in the 4-6 hour range, very acceptable. This was a first laptop for my daughter to use for mostly educational purposes... she can learn: the touchscreen interface, touch pad, keyboard, it can help with spelling and typing, etc. It doubles as a portable media player on car trips for digital content (no dvd player, but an external unit can be had for little $ if necessary). Performance-wise if you are used to an SSD and Intel "I" processor.... this will be slow to boot and shutdown, but once running, it functions smoothly, plays all video and media without a hitch, and the HDD provides plenty of movie storage for long car trips. Overall, very good for the price considering the feature set and form factor.

I walk to and from work and school every day, so I needed a lightweight laptop that didn't take up too much desk space. I've owned the Lenovo Yoga 2 2-in-1 (11.6") for about two months now, and it is perfect! Battery is great - keeping the screen at 100% brightness, I can get 6 hours of battery life. Multi-tasking is great - I use web browsing, MS Word, MS Excel, and Skype, all running at the same time with no slow-downs. Video streaming TV shows and movies online also have no slow-downs. The touchscreen and touchpad are both great and there's no damage or noticeable wear so far on the computer, screen, or power cable. All modes work well (laptop, tablet, stand-up, and tent), and the hinges that it folds back on seem to be very sturdy, but I don't switch modes that often (I use laptop mode 99% of the time). Keyboard is a bit small, but totally comfortable - I can type comfortably for hours every day. Definitely try it in-person before buying if you have bigger hands though. In tablet mode, the on-screen keyboard takes up half the screen, which is awkward, but it's comfortable for on-screen typing. There's no DVD drive, but I bought an external drive for when needed; an internal DVD drive would have been nice, but it would be heavier and bigger, which would be a deal-breaker for me. Also, there are only two USB ports, but I haven't found that to be a limitation for me so far. Everyone I know who has used my laptop remarks how lightweight and fast it is - and of course, they all love the touchscreen. I also have a touchscreen smartphone and a touchscreen tablet, and this laptop is a welcome addition to my technology.

I'm a 40-something mother of 4 who had to cede ownership of my iPad to my kids and was tired of waiting for "my turn" on the computer. I wanted something that I could use as a tablet to read the paper or stream Netflix, but I also need a regular computer for email, internet, household budget, MS office, etc. I picked up the Yoga 2 11 about a month ago, and so far I really like it. The good: The size and weight are great. It is bigger/heavier than an iPad, but I have to say when I picked up some of the larger 2-in-1s, I was shocked at how heavy and bulky they were. The 11 is small enough to remain usable in tablet form, but (for me) it is large enough to comfortably use as a laptop as well. The touchscreen and touchpad are very good for me; sensitivity and accuracy have been flawless. The keyboard is a keyboard. The keys don't depress as much as I was used to, and it took a little while to get accustomed to that. If I'm not typing at the right angle I get double keystrokes frequently, but that's something else I have adjusted to. Performance has been fine for me, but you have to remember this is our first new computer in about five years. If you are used to high end processors with SSDs, I'm sure it would seem slow and clunky to you; for me the fact that it boots in 15-20 seconds is pretty amazing. The bad: Less than a week after I got this, I started getting popups about my game store app being updated. The popup wanted me to agree to install an exe file (not happening), and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Turns out Pokki was installed on my computer during setup and I am still not sure how; I think it was bundled with something else from Lenovo. When I uninstalled Pokki I got a message saying my start menu was going to be deleted (scary, right?) but a little digging online said it was the Pokki start menu that would be deleted, not MY start menu, so I went ahead and removed the program and have had no further issues. Battery life is mediocre. I get just 4-6 hours depending on use, which is enough for my needs but just not spectacular. I had a similar product from Dell that easily got 7+ hours on a charge, and I'm not sure why Lenovo couldn't have done better with this. Many of Lenovo's preinstalled apps were/are corrupt, and it is difficult to figure out which ones are bloatware and which ones are necessary for the computer to work properly. I also initially had problems with my photos app being directed to a folder that didn't exist, and while that wasn't difficult to fix it was initially difficult to diagnose. Overall, I feel this computer was a good value for the price (I got it on sale for $399) and I am happy with my purchase. I would recommend this computer to someone who has basic computing needs and who would enjoy the versatility of a 2-in-1.

Pros - 360 degree swivel works smoothly - Screen quality is amazing - bright and shiny...HD TV quality - lightweight, handy and sturdy - soft keyboard. Lighted keyboard is optional but would be good to have. - Easy to setup and use - touch screen is perfect...easy to use and works like a charm Cons - Mouse buttons could've been softer to click - It has a Pentium motherboard, which is slower than intel i5 or i7 chips. those versions are available at a higher price and recommended if you want to type, browse and multitask. I haven't loaded any programming tools or heavy apps for the fear of slowing it down. Great for websurfing, MS office or other media apps

Pros: the flip screen works well, and seems to be sturdily built. The power adapter port is solidly attached (perpetual issue for me with laptops) and the touch screen is very vivid and has rich color. It is also responsive and easy to use. Things to know: the whole thing is a little bit heavy for the size, especially when using it as a tablet. It is not the fastest system on the market, but given the price, that shouldn't be a surprise. Streaming video works fine, number crunching and loading times are longer than more expensive machines. Cons: Windows 8 sucks. It really sucks. The touch pad buttons are stiff and slightly awkward to use. The touch pad itself seems to be hyper-sensitive, and it can be tricky to use it to scroll up and down web pages. Also (mostly because Windows 8 sucks) it has a tendency to grab the (sucky) charm bar on the right whenever you use the touch pad. The keyboard is a little cramped, but that is to be expected on a laptop this small. Overall: This would be a solid 5 if Windows 8 wasn't installed on it. Or if Windows 8 came with instructions. Or if Windows 8 was even remotely similar to any other version of Windows in the past 20 years so my (not so techy) wife didn't have to spend hours relearning how to do what should be very simple procedures. If you aren't familiar with it, be prepared, the learning curve is very steep. The computer itself is a satisfactory device for simple web browsing and basic computer tasks for non-gamers and casual computer users. You aren't paying for bells and whistles, so don't expect them.

My 17" HP finally took a dive after 6 years. Wasn't using it much towards the end because it was big & bulky and I don't have the space to leave it set up. Had been considering and iPad but I have too many apps I use that aren't ipad compatible. The Lenovo does both. I tend to use it in stand mode when surfing. I love the touch screen capability and use it often even when in laptop mode. Windows 8.x takes some getting used to but it's not a big deal if your a smartphone/tablet user. Great value for the price!

I really like this laptop, though I am regretting not getting the Protection Plan now because I'm having some driver issues. A little bit about me: I'm a student and use this computer for homework: Word 2013, internet research, pdf articles, web-based digital humanities programs, etc. I have also been using for general web browsing. It is light - I barely feel it in my backpack all day long with a heavy textbook and several notebooks. It has a nice, sleek design, which makes it easy to type on once you get used to the smaller keyboard (going from a 15.6" laptop to the 11" current laptop). I don't use the other modes that often, but the tent mode is good for viewing videos without having the keyboard in the way. However, in these other modes, it does not seem like the keyboard is deactivated, which isn't as good. The webcam has decent quality, though I haven't had much time to use it yet. The laptop can be kind of hard to open at times because the lid only sticks out maybe a centimeter or less from the outer edge of the bottom part of the laptop. It would have been nice if there was a little tab in the middle that sticks out more to allow for more leverage in getting the laptop open. I have noticed that it slows down some if I have too many programs open at once (Word, pdf viewer, internet all with several documents/tabs). Flash/shockwave has also been acting up on Firefox, but I don't know if this is because of the computer or the internet itself. The battery lasts all day with light use - a few web searches, taking notes during one class, having a pdf open to look at during class, about 5 to 6 hours with moderate use (typing into a document more frequently, web searches, reading a pdf), and about 4 to 5 hours with more heavy use (video streaming, games, charging my phone). Cons: This has more to do with Windows 8, but if you are scrolling with the trackpad or have your hand close to the trackpad on a document or webpage, it will zoom in on the document but then will not allow you to scroll out. This can be really inconvenient to have to go into the zoom settings and reset the zoom level every few minutes. I tried to find a way to disable this but was not able to. Also, the dual-screen view mode is kind of pointless because it only allows you to do this to the apps that are on the computer, but you cannot put a Word document and a pdf or web-browser together unless you want to size the documents yourself on the desktop. It would have been more useful if you could use any application, whether it be on the computer from Lenovo or downloaded onto the computer from another source, side-by-side. All in all, this is a great computer. I've actually used it more than I do my old laptop, but am not quite ready to get rid of the other one yet. It was definitely time to upgrade to a newer system though.
