Synopsis

Lethal Weapon
L.A. cop Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), whose wife has recently died, is a loose cannon with a seeming death wish. This makes him indispensable in collaring dangerous criminals, but a liability to any potential partners. Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover), a conservative family man who wants to stay alive for his upcoming 50th birthday, is partnered with Riggs. As Riggs gets to know Murtaugh and his family, he begins to mellow, though his insistence on using guerilla tactics to catch criminals is still (put mildly) above and beyond the call of duty. The main villain is The General (Mitchell Ryan), a drug dealer responsible for the death of the daughter of one of Murtaugh's oldest friends. The General is also in charge of a deadly, militia-like gang of smugglers. Adding fuel to the fire is The General's chief henchman, played with all stops out by Gary Busey. Moviegoers familiar only with the relatively tongue-in-cheek Lethal Weapon sequels may be amazed to find out how dangerous and unpredictable Riggs is in the first Lethal Weapon -- and how likely it seems that Murtaugh might not survive until fade-out time. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Great movie, bad decision for the Blu-Ray version!

Lets dive in head first. PROS: Unlike what I have read in reviews, the Blu-Ray version does have a better picture and clearer sound. Here is the problem that most customers don't understand, If you don't have a TV that has 1080P and 120Hz ability, then it is not worth it. I know for certain because I compaired the DVD to the Blu-Ray on my PS3 and the differance is major. The picture is clearer, has a lot more color, and runs alot smoother. I own a 1080P, 120Hz, Touch-of-Color, 46", Samsung LCD TV and the movie looks great. Again, if your HARDWARE is not able to support these specifications than you won't see much of a differance. CONS: The main thing that has me angry ( and nobody has mentioned at all) is that you cannot watch the Director's Cut!!! You can watch some of it in the deleted scenes but, there is no options to watch the movie with the Director's cut footage! Anyone who has seen the Director's Cut version on DVD knows that the extra footage should have been in it all along. But the Blu-Ray version does not even give you that choice! We all know Blu-ray has more space, so what gives? I can't watch it without it because it adds a LOT of depth that's missing otherwise. BOTTOM LINE: Better quality picture and sound but, the missing Director's Cut footage ruins the buy. In fact I am going to try to return it if I can!

One of the Best Movies of the 80's

If you like action than this is your movie. It’s one of the best movies of the 80’s; it will stand on its own as one of the best NON STOP ACTION COP MOVIES of it time. This movie take you for a thrill ride and when you get off you want some more. It’s a must have for all fan's of Action Flicks. Mel and Danny deliver the action like the Three Stooges deliver the comedy. I wish they would have added some extras that would have made it even better.

The Real Black & White Squad

This movie is just plain great with the non-stop action, great humor, and a perfect plot that makes this movie one of the top action pack movies ever made. Gibson and Glover are brilliant together even with the love-hate relationship they have in the first meeting (even throughout the movie) until they learned that need to have a mutual respect for one another

Worth it If You Don't Already Have

For all the 'Lethal Weapon' fans who already have this title on dvd, I can't necessarily recommend rebuying it here on Blue-ray. The image quality just isn't that much better as to make it worthwhile, but that is simply my opinion, so you will have to decide for yourself.

Buy on DVD, Not on Blue Ray

I decided to buy this Blue Ray because it was one of my favorite movies of the 1980s. The film is incredible, but the Blue Ray transfer is HORRIBLE! Anything that moves on screen has motion trails and this poor transfer cheapens the cinematography.

    Unnecessary Extra Footage

This is a bad director's cut to a film that wasn't really that great to begin with. If you have to have this movie, stick with the original theatrical version.

Decent entertainment at best, this movie is ok, as is the dvd, but nothing to go crazy over.
