Before I came across Level, I wasn’t keen on smart locks mainly because I’m a renter and the installation process typically requires too much alteration for my landlord’s comfort. Also, I’m not a fan of the extra equipment that smart home gadgets require like a Wi-Fi bridge. But Level Locks caught my eye because of their unique and simple design. It looks like a standard lock so it blends in well with my current lock and door. I currently have a brass plate on my door (picture below) and I was impressed with how well it matched. I live in an old apartment building so my front door is very old and parts of the doorframe are rotting. Initially, I was worried I’d run into major roadblocks but the installation went off without a hitch. The lock has been working great – even as a HomeKit user, I actually find myself using the Level app more than the Home app. I’ve noticed the HomeKit app is slow and not as reliable. When my friends from out of town visited, I was able to remotely let them in through the Level app. In addition to the app, there are a lot of ways you can lock/unlock your door (key card, touch, phone, and regular key). When I leave my apartment, I lock the door just by touching it and when I come home, I just touch to unlock it; it’s drop-dead simple. I still have yet to use the key cards but that’s strictly a personal preference, though I’m glad I have the option. As someone who loses their keys very often, I’m very pleased with my Level Lock - Touch Edition and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a smart lock, especially if you don’t want to interfere with your current setup.

I ordered Level Lock Touch Edition specifically for our back door — It’s situated at the top of a steep and dark staircase with no landing (see photos), which made fumbling with regular keys to get in each time a really treacherous situation. We installed our Level Lock a couple weekends ago, and now my husband and I are both so relieved that we can more easily and safely come and go through that door (especially since we usually have a baby and/or dog in tow). We usually either use the app or finger touch to unlock, and it’s been great. I also appreciate the little chime sound it makes upon locking/unlocking — It helps me know that my husband locks the door on his way to work every day, so I no longer have to get up from my office and check each time. The installation went pretty smoothly. There was one hiccup but after enlarging the borehole slightly with a tool my husband had on hand (and we don’t have many), we were smooth sailing. All in it took about 40 minutes from opening the box to fully installed and functioning; totally worth it. The accompanying key cards are convenient too — We’ve given one to my brother-in-law who lives nearby to treat as his “spare key.” He hasn’t had to use it yet, but we’re glad he has that access. Even though we got it for that specific backdoor situation, I’m considering buying one for the front door now too - Makes coming and going so much easier.

Phenomenal door lock! Perfect for our family of 6 with all of us coming and going all the time. No more getting locked out or having to leave the door unlocked. Level lock looks beautiful, is simple to install and now we never have to worry about being locked out of our house again. So many ways to give access to the kids and then we can also see when they get home/leave home. I would 100% recommend this lock. Genius and so smart! It even integrates with my Ring doorbell system or my Apple HomeKit, which gives me so many options.
