Good and Quiet dishwasher
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.We mainly replaced our old dishwasher because it was dated and white colored. I was a little apprehensive because our old one wasn't broken, cleaned and dried dishes well. But as we gradually have remodeled our kitchen, it definitely looked old and out of place. After seeing the LG discounted to $629.99 we decided it was time to upgrade. After using it for 2 weeks, we love the way it looks and actually prefer the looks over many more expensive units and even Bosch brands. It cleans dishes well, although takes a bit more time than out older unit but is extremely quiet! I couldn't believe how quiet it was and thought it wasn't operating. After years of becoming accustomed our loud dishwasher it's a nice relief to have this unit. We also really like having the third rack for knives and other utensils. The main drawbacks of this unit is that the normal wash time is about 2 -1/2 hours, our old unit would be done in under 2 hours. The additional time isn't the main frustration, it's the fact after that time not all the dishes are completely dry, there would still be a few drips here and there. The unit does have an extra dry option which will stretch the time to 2 -3/4 hours but it still isn't completely dry which is just annoying. I believe the heating element isn't as good as my old unit as the plates would be quite warm from the old unit compared the LG. I don't overload the LG unit so there should be ample room to dry dishes and utensils. In the end, we just have to get a extra cloth to wipe off the few drips of water here and there but definitely wished it was completely dry like our old unit. But I'm sure this unit likely uses less water and energy compared to our old 20 year unit.

Clean Look, Very quiet
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Cleans very well and really quiet! It’s quiet relative to our previous 15 year GE model. I do like the top shelf (3rd) shelf for utensils and stuff like small bowls even Vertuo coffee pods (reusable). The different settings/Cycles were a bit confusing at first. I wasn’t exactly sure on which settings worked best for a standard load of dishes. The buttons are a little hard to read but once you learn them it sorta doesn’t matter. Now I did encounter trouble placing dishes correctly you do need to read the manual for this because the shelves will get hung up on the dishes below it (annoying). Called customer support because my open box purchase was missing the “kick” plate that covers the bottom of the unit so that you don’t see any of the hoses and wires. I had to call twice because replacement item was not shipped yet and received an email from two different people asking questions. I just need the item replaced please. Overall I’m satisfied with the performance and would recommend

Awesome dishwasher
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.We had a 9 month old Frigidaire dishwasher that came with our house. It was horrible quality so we replaced it with this LG. We have a LG stove, microwave and fridge, now we have the dishwasher too. It’s easy to use. Wash quality is great as long as you use the right cycle setting. I have some hand wash only recommended pots and pans and we use the delicate setting and it works great!

||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I purchased this for my home elsewhere and haven't used the machine, but watched a video of the installers who ran the machine, (sent from my property mgr. who was there to accept the delivery.) She reported that they checked everywhere for leaks and it was good to go! For now I give it 4 stars for a successful 1st run of it. haha.. I will be better able to rate this new DW after someone is living there again. Also the installer called my property mgr. at my home 10am that morning and also called me in Hawaii (4am) to confirm his arrival. Very prompt service. I tried to post the video of them showing the aftermath of washing, but couldnl't.

Q: QuestionIs there an easily removable food strainer or does it have to be unscrewed?

- A:Answer Remove the lower rack and position the bottom spray arm so a wider vee is open to the front. Turn the inner filter counter-clockwise and take out the assembled inner filter and stainless steel filter. With the filters removed, check the sump opening and remove any foreign materials, if needed. Clean the filters with a soft brush under running water. Reassemble the filters before reinstalling them. To replace the assembled filters, position the spray arm so the wider vee is toward the front. Fit the filters back into the filter holder and secure them by turning the inner filter clockwise until it clicks into place. ^Daphane

Q: QuestionHow is the drying in this machine(LDFN4542S) different from LDF5545SS model?. What's the advantage and limitations?

- A:Answer I can't speak to the other model you're comparing it to but if you use Rinse Aid and set the machine for the Extra Dry cycle AND load it properly so that water collectable basins on your dishes face down as much as possible the machine seems to do well, No machine has ever been perfect and plastic is a problem for all dishwashers as are oddly shaped dishes that allow water pools in multiple places. Unload at the bottom first so the upper rack doesn't splash to the bottom and just try not to overload the machine and I think it will be fine. What towel drying I have had to do hasn't bothered me so far.

- A:Answer Model LDFN4542S does not have a special rack to long stem glassware. Place cups and glasses in the rows between the rack tines. Placing them over the rack tines can lead to breakage and water spots. To avoid chipping, do not let stemware touch other items. ^Daphane
