I got this unit because of replacement windows that have very little opening height (12.5in max). It is extremely difficult to find units this small.
Does the unit cool? Yes. Does it dehumidify well? No.
This is being used in a house that has central ac, but the other person in the house has little tolerance for anything cooler than 73-75 during the summer. They're ok with 68-72 in the winter, so that's a puzzler...
Simply having this unit in the window causes a substantial increase in relative humidity (6-20%). The compressor only runs for a maximum of 2 minutes (typically 30-60 seconds). This is not sufficient to condense much moisture.
The other frustrating thing is that if it is, say, 72 inside, but 60 outside due to good radiational cooling, the unit generally ceases to cool. The setting can be on 60, but at most it will cool to 67-68. It never gets cooler than 65 if set to 60, and that is with an assist from the central ac.
If you are someone who likes it cool to sleep, if your window can fit a taller unit, don't get this.
