I purchased this combination washer/dryer back in December. After having this unit in my house for a little over a month I am so far pleased to say I am happy with my purchase. After purchasing my first home I realized that there was no ventilation ran for a dryer or 220V wiring even ran to where the previous owner had their laundry area setup. This machine solved that issue plus worked well with one of my compulsions about making sure clothes went immediately from the washing machine to the dryer to avoid getting that mildew smell by allowing me to have it automatically start drying after the wash cycle. As far as the machine’s performance and how it runs. I did some research and read many reviews before making my purchase. One thing that was mentioned over and over through other reviews was the need for the machine to be elevated to help it drain properly. Some people used homemade stands others bought the recommended LG pedestal. Instead of finding out for myself whether or not this machine worked well while sitting flat on the ground I went ahead and purchased the pedestal that goes with it. Something else that was a common mention in other reviews was load size. I experimented with my first few loads to see what worked for me. Since I prefer to wash and dry in my setup I wanted to make sure that I didn’t overfill the machine. It took a few attempts but I found a load size that works well for me, usually a pair of jeans, a few shirts, undergarments, and socks will wash and dry without issue in less than three hours. This works well for my household size of two but if you have a larger household with more laundry and less time this machine may not be ideal for you. There are a lot of different wash cycles to play with to get your desired results. These may not be for everyone but they are useful and have their functions. Since I generally use a cold wash cycle, extra rinse, and more dry settings I was able to set a custom program so I can just hit a single button to pull up my desired settings each time. Another feature I use a lot is delayed wash. I can load the machine at night and set it to start a couple hours before I generally return home and my clothes will be near done when I return home in the afternoon without setting around getting wrinkly all day. The only other thing worth mentioning is the lint. There will be some lint remaining in your washer after the cycle is done. You should wipe down the inside of the door and around the rubber seal after each cycle. This doesn’t seem too tedious. There is also a lint trap you should clean once a month. Having performed this task once already I can see that it is easy enough that anyone should be able to do it with the instructions provided. It is worth noting also that I notice that there is a decent amount of lint coming out with the water through the drain hose. I drain into a laundry sink and use a cheap hair catcher to prevent the lint from going down the drain so it hasn’t worried me but it is definitely worth mentioning for those who use another draining method.

      Best Money I Ever Spent!

I don't normally write reviews, but after recommending this to everyone I have ever come into contact with, I wasn't satisfied with just telling my inner circle about this. No, I want to tell the world. Because I never had a washer/dryer in my apartments, for years, I sent out my laundry or my mother would do my laundry. I had done laundry maybe once or twice in my entire life. I thought it was an awful chore to go to the laundromat. When my husband and I purchased our first home a few months ago, we had to find a washer/dryer unit that would fit into a closet that was underneath the back of our staircase. We considering stacked units, however, most of the available options were still too big to fit in our laundry closet. We ended up finding one that would fit. Enter the LG Electric Washer/Dryer Combo. At first, I thought it was a bit pricey, and this almost kept us from pulling the trigger. I am the person who will buy the least expensive option of anything available. Upgrades? What's that? I just don't do that - why get the bells and whistles when the basic model does the job? In this case, I was totally wrong. After reading reviews, I was a bit skeptical because many of the reviewers say this baby takes too long to dry. I am SO glad I did not listen. Not only do I do laundry now, but I enjoy doing laundry! There's many different settings - even a hand wash cycle! An entire cycle from start to finish takes about 2 hours (we set our dry time to "more dry", and my clothes always come out toasty warm!) The convenience is worth the extra time it may take. I put in a load at night, and when I wake up in the morning, my clothes are washed and dried. Plus, it takes up way less space than two units, so we were able to put a shelf in our closet to hang over the unit and hold our detergent. The interior is not as small as others may say - it's the perfect size for my husband and I, and we go through a lot of clothes. I will say that I like that it holds less than a separate washing machine, since the loads are smaller it makes the task of putting away the laundry less daunting. The machine itself is so easy that I actually enjoy doing laundry now. DO NOT let the negative reviews hold you back! This thing is seriously the best money I ever spent and a complete time-saver; instead of waiting for the clothes to be washed so I can bend over and put them in the dryer, I can do other things (like sleep!) while I wait for my clothes to wash and dry. I absolutely love my washer/dryer combo unit and will never purchase anything else. Thanks, LG, for making a solid product!

      Cleans well, gently on clothes

Knowing full well that this machine takes much longer to do a lot has a lot to do with the satisfaction you'll have with this appliance. My wife and I were intrigued by the machines we used in Europe recently and when our current w/d were wearing out we decided to try one of these combo units using condensing drying. it does take between 2.5 and 3.5 hours to do most loads. While you can't necessarily have a marathon Saturday where you do all your laundry it's not at all impossible to get several loads done in a day. Using the delay feature you can load it the night before and have clothes ready by morning followed by several more loads during the day. A bonus is you can put a load in and leave for several hours to return home to them being done. There's no transferring clothes from one machine to another. It also doesn't require a special plug or vent as you should already know by now. This can save on heating/cooling bills. Homes these days are being built tighter and tighter and using this machine will allow you not to have a 4 inch hole in the side of your house. Its water and electricity use is rather low, as well. Over a full cycle it generally uses less than 3 kilowatt hours compared to a conventional washer and dryer that might use upwards of 6-8. It also doesn't get as hot as a conventional dryer. This has its pluses and minuses. A major plus to me here is that the clothes aren't wearing as fast. Colors are staying longer and the fabric appears/feels less used. And it is true if you've read elsewhere that sometimes the clothes will feel slightly damp when the cycle is complete. If you remove the clothes right as the cycle ends i've found that the dampness leaves rather quickly as the cool. You could also get a small folding drying rack to temporarily hold the clothes while you're folding. In general everything comes out probably 95% dry or so and allowing the clothes to breathe for a minute tends to take the rest of the wetness out of them.

When we bought our home, it included the previous model of this washer/dryer combo. That model was slightly smaller, had some trouble balancing spin cycles, but was otherwise functional and a great space-saver for urban apartment living. We then purchased this new version of the LG combo washer/dryer, with its larger capacity, and we have been very pleased. Washing is exceptional, even using minimal detergent, yet also gentle and has not harmed our clothes in any way. The dryer works very well for a condensate model, but word for the wise: When adding a load of laundry, fill the tub only about 1/2 to 2/3 max. This is because condensate dryers need room for the air to circulate so it can suck the moisture out during the drying process, and it also reduces incidence of wrinkles. The tub has a large enough cavity that this should not pose any issues for singles and couples, but may be a challenge for families as a combined wash and dry load takes about 3 hours (1 for wash & spin, another +/- 2 to dry). It is a ventless drying system that sucks water out of the interior air of the drier and then spits it out into your drain. It dries using the same regular 120v plug, so you don't need special wiring or a 240v outlet like standard electric vented driers. I load it, set the timer and head off to work. Clean, dry clothes await my return, with the auto-tumble feature preventing any wrinkles from setting in if I’m running late. Notes: - This unit does not have a lint screen, but rather you need to wipe out the rubber lining and the inside door surface and seals to remove where lint accumulates. It is more work than removing lint from a standard drier, but for me it is worth it for the space-saving options. - The dry-only cycle does not include the auto-tumble wrinkle preventer function and does not include the steam function (these features are available on the LG standalone vented electric drier models). It would be nice to add this functionality, especially considering the cost of this unit, and it would let you freshen your clothes without having to actually run a wash & dry cycle. - The drum is large enough to handle large items like our relatively thin king sized comforter. Drying it did take longer but came out ok. This machine can also handle the washing part of a heavier/thicker king sized comforter easily, but it might not be able to dry it. - It is a very heavy machine! Make sure you or your contractor are prepared and that the surface you are using is strong enough (if you are using a pedestal, for example). I had Best Buy's expert delivery and installation service take care of everything, and they were very courteous and efficient.

I only had space for a tiny super space saver stack which could fit one outfit at a time. So glad I can fit a weeks laundry in, press start, and walk away knowing the next time I look,y clothes will be clean and dry! I’ve tried 3 full size towels, a couple handfuls of washcloths, a couple kitchen towels and a few shirts and socks(I don’t really sort) and it probably took a few hours to run through. Came out dry. I ran a set of sheets and pillowcases along with a couple towels, same deal. The tiny room it is in got a little warm and humid, but nothing that bothers me. So much better than one outfit at a time and I feel that I can easily complete 2-3 loads of laundry on a Sunday. I got a set of thick anti vibration pucks and a catch pan for this to sit in. Pucks made this run with very little sound and pretty much no vibration. Catch pan will have to be trimmed a bit so the pedestal drawer will clear...didn’t think of that. Also check to make sure you have a regular plug where you will put this. I am havin to run an extension cord until I can have an electrician come. Overall great solution to do laundry unless maybe you have a ton...although tossing it in before you go to bed throughout the week is an option with that as well. Anyhow, I wouldn’t be scared this won’t dry your clothes or will take forever. Works great!

This review is for the smaller version (2.3cu+ 24") combination machine AND the larger: 4.3. I tried the smaller first, to see if it would be enough for 2 persons. It is, but you need to do laundry about every 2-3 days, which is fine, however, a little trickier is trying to wash all of your bedding. I prefer having the larger model. Read the instructions carefully. Clothing should be grouped/washed accordingly. This is especially important in the drying process. Damp and Normal are my two most used dry modes. The damp leaves the clothing slightly humid, just enough to hang it and let it air dry perfectly without wrinkles. "Normal" usually dries everything (towels, for example) very dry. I've used "More", which I found a little too hot ! (crinkled, wrinkled- probably only good for towels -- but even for jeans, I found this mode too strong) FYI: My drain is at 36" high. I bought this machine because we are about to do a remodel which includes ripping apart my laundry and I did not want to be without a machine/dryer for months. This was a perfect solution: we hooked it up in the garage. You only need electricity, water and a drain. This is our temp fix, until we get our new laundry room.

I would only buy this very expensive if I did not have space for ANY type of real machines. Pros: Saves space You can put a load in and not worry about waiting to put it into the dryer Large washing capacity Cons Dry function works poorly - leaves clothes damp or immediately faded by extremely high heat. Dry function leaves a strong chemical odor on clothes Machine gets very hot, beware of touching when in use Large washing capacity BUT you need to take half the load out to dry (per instructions) There is no "air" dry cycle - even the lowest temperature is too warm. At least 3 hours for a load to complete Can only dry half the capacity it can wash so if you wash a"full" load - you will need to reset the "dry" time for an additional 30 to 60 minutes - trying to more than one load of laundry in a day will be a pain. Clothes come out wrinkled My kids do not like this machine. My husband, loves the environmental impact but hates the functionality, My parents and my in-laws (who all have stayed at my home) do not like the machine. All of them complained about the chemical odor of the clothes after drying.

Bought with 15" LG pedestal for cramped condo laundry closet. My drain in 36" off of floor, have heard that drain height affects drying time/effectiveness. Works without issue 6 months and going, washing and drying. Washer is same as other LG washers with similar features. Issue for potential buyer is the adjustments needed to get most out of appliance (especially at high price), quirks of drying which are not a barrier for me. Drying takes longer depending on load size and type of material, and will never get bone dry out of the unit - different drying process. I use the following steps to wash. 1) Sort clothe for like material. Uneven results with mixed loads. 2) Smaller loads, generally do not go over recommended capacity. 3) Do not have set laundry day. I load at night or before work and let run (with fresh care setting to avoid wrinkles) - and put away later in AM or PM. 4) Wipe lint off of seal of unit. 5) Run unit every two months in clean drum mode. Works flawlessly for me and lifestyle.
