Q: Is it a good tv for gaming? I would like it for my son for his switch console.
A: Yes, I bought this TV on the 11th and use it on my PS4 Pro. It has a great picture and an immense upgrade from 1080p. It has HDR10 and Dolby Vision, which is one reason I bought it. I don't think the Sony 900e the other person mentioned will be updated to support Dolby Vision, which is ultimately why I didn't buy it, but you may want to look into that yourself as I'm not 100% sure. As for the local dimming and cloudy blacks, I'm not sure I've noticed that, or would recognize it if it did happen. If you game then it's best to use the "gaming" mode as that reduces the input lag significantly and response is amazing. Much better than my last TV.
Q: was wondering does the 40in stand fit this?
A: The footprint for the detachable stand on the LG SUPER UHD 4K HDR Smart LED TV w/ Nano Cell™ Display - 55" Class (54.6" Diag), Model # 55SJ8500 is 32-5/8" (W) x 9-3/4" (D), so the width will fit on a 40" wide TV stand...^IFV
A: A common problem with newer HDR capable TVs is that they are often hooked up with the video connection running thru an older Audio/Video receiver that does not support the new HDR standards. What happens then is that "older" A/V then effectively "downcoverts" the video signal by stripping the HDR signal from the video feed. This can cause lag and stutter in the displayed picture. If you connect through an A/V receiver then simply try a direct connection from your video source to the TV to see if the A/V receiver is causing the problem. Your Sony tv may not have HDR capability so it would work fine when the A/V signal.
A: The 55SJ8500 has an optical port as well as a HDMI/ARC port that can be used for connecting external sound systems to the TV. ^CP
A: Try using the Sports picture with high contrast and middle high back lighting. That worked for me.
Q: What are the box measurements?
A: The shipping box has the following dimensions:(WxHxD) 53.5" x 33.9" x 6.4" ^CP
A: Yes there is a setting i found while setting up the sound bar that aloud for the use of both the sounder and television simultaneously. You can change both the volumes separate as well. I got this tv for my grandfather who has 50% hearing and no hearing aids so he also used a headset with his old tv because my grandmother has great hearing and doesnt want it super loud. But instead of hooking up the headphones again i hooked up a very nice sound bar that has an extra voice tweeter in it for better sound on speech and both were able to hear well enough to watch tv together.
Q: does this tv have av ports!!!!
A: Yes it comes with a dongle that will Len allow you to use av cables though only standard yellow red white. Hope this helps.
