LG - 65" Class CX Series OLED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV (2020)

Let me start this review off by going right at everyone's fear that want to buy an Oled TV but fear the word "Burn in" by stating the history of OLED TVs I've owned. I am a heavy gamer and my tv is on for over 8+ hrs a day between my little one, my wife and then myself gaming at night. I had a C6 that developed burn in after 2 years (roughly 8000 hrs in) gaming heavy and not understanding the whole "burn in effect". My warranty replacement was the C8 and I gamed even longer and harder on this set and had 0 burn in effects. The company has made huge strides in helping almost eliminate this from happening. Can it happen if you leave a static image on screen for hours upon hours, weeks after weeks, months after months? Yes! But knowing this and just in generally speaking, not many people watch the same thing every day for hours on end without mixing it up? It's very rare with these current models because of all the tools LG added to the TV like Screen shift, Screen saver, Logo Luminanve Adjuster and Pixel Refresher. You do not have to worry about burn in with these new sets. First off, the picture quality is top notch. I dont think there is another tv on the market (especially at $2800) that produces this level of on screen beauty. Color accuracy, pure black levels really make the colors pop off the screen, amazing contrast, etc... Anyone who says these tvs dont get bright enough have not sat in front of the tv. Its blinding! The HDR is beautiful! The upscaling is the best this series has ever had to offer. I believe they stressed the new A9 gen 3 chip was heavily focused on improving the upscaling, and you can really see it with this model (especially coming from a C8). The AI Picture and Sound features are huge upgrades and the great thing about them is you get to see a first hand example of their effects in the tv setup options. The AI picture mode really does a great job with human faces. The AI sound mode really helps single out the talking over the loud background sounds. In general it makes the tv so much louder at lower volume settings. Now on to the reason I wanted this TV so bad and what makes this tv the best in the business. It is designed to be a gaming tv. Usually when you think Oled, you are thinking about a high quality 4k movie watching tv. Well now not only is it that, but now it's a top notch gaming tv that easily rivals the best gaming monitors out there. It is fully future proof for the new systems coming. The tv has HDMI 2.1 which the new systems will take advantage of. It has insanely low response times with 4k 120hz BFI (Black Frame Insertion. It comes with built in Nvidia G sync and VRR. The Xbox X currently let's you use VRR and auto low latency on this tv along with 1440P 120 if desired. Graphically it's the best looking tv I've ever gamed on. The HDR lighting is much improved from my C8. I think because this set gets a bit brighter than my C8. It also has Dynamic tone mapping which adds a beautiful little extra brightness to your game picture quality (if you prefer it). And it also has HGIG but as far as I understand, not many games use it currently so I notice the lighting still looks better with Dynamic Tone Mapping alone without the HGIG. Also I notice in faster moving games that I have more control. Like in NHL Hockey 20 and Call of Duty, I can actually feel a difference in what I assume to be the better response time with VRR and Auto low latency checked on. I'm not sure what exactly technology is working here but all I can say is what I physically feel. And it's an improvement from my C8. (More control) I cant imagine how it's only gonna get better as the new systems are improving these areas. I must apologize for all the things I've left out, like the amazing operating system WebOS which is silly smooth and fast controlled by the magic remote (which is like a Wii remote you point and click). Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, HDR 10. All in all, I highly and strongly recommend this tv for anyone looking to upgrade. If you are a movie buff or a gamer, this tv is a no brainers. The best part is it is close to $1000 cheaper than its usual release price. Kudos to LG for getting it out with a great price point. Get this tv and enjoy its beauty! Amazing picture quality out of the box. Minor tweeking of settings to adjust to you liking makes it even better. I really like the remote and the OS is great and responsive. I'm using a Roku Ultra with it and not the native apps, but I have tried them out and they do work great. It's super thin. Like afraid I'm going to snap it in two thin. The included stand sits the TV about 2 inches off the surface it's sitting on which is ridiculously low. If you are not mounting it to the wall and are using a soundbar under the TV, it will block the TV. I'm going to have to get a tabletop mount stand to lift the TV up from the top of the surface and it's a great solution but should I have to spend $100 on a stand on a $2000 TV so my soundbar doesn't block the bottom of it? No. The stand needs to be a couple inches taller. Burn in was my major concern going with OLED, but these newer sets have settings that can help with reducing your risk. Best Buy's Geek Squad warranty also covers burn in so just get that if it's that much of a concern for you. The picture quality difference coming from a 2019 Vizio Quantum M series to this is night and day. Seeing 4k Dolby Vision on the LG is sort of like seeing HD for the first time back in 2005. Jaw dropping and we'll worth the risk of burn in. I have a Series X and PS5 hooked up to it via eArc and it is absolute craziness playing games on it. Response time is insanely good with no sacrifice to image quality. Auto game mode works so well, it's so nice not to have to manually turn on low latency everytime I play a game. Best TV I've ever owned. It's been my dream TV since I first saw this series years ago and I was finally able to get it and am beyond pleased with it so far. It was between this set and the Vizio P Quantum X for me, about a $600 price swing. If it's within or near your budget and your thinking of saving a few bucks to get a Vizio or something, don't. Spend the extra couple hundred and get this LG OLED. It is so worth it and blows everything else out of the water.

this 65" OLED is absolutely amazing.... I've been rocking a $500 4k TV for years now and the difference in quality is very large. This thing upscales stuff much better, and the quality 4K streams/Blurays are stunning. I don't have any issues with the remote like it seems other reviewers do, works just fine. I use a apple TV 4k a lot of the time but the app system on the TV itself is good as well, switching inputs is easy and it's good at telling which ones are connected or not and also knows how to label what they are (sony blu-ray, apple tv, playstation, etc) I will say though, the only negative is how sketchy it is to unbox and set up. LG engineers were so caught up with if they could make it this thin that they clearly never stopped to think if they actually should. It legitimately ripples/wobbles if you pinch one corner and wiggle it a little bit, it's seriously impressive and cool to look at once it's all setup but mannn was I a sweaty nervous wreck getting it face down onto my bed, putting on the stand and then getting it over to it's final resting place in the living room. Multiple people is highly recommended, or one strong person. Luckily it's so thin my cat's brains don't even register it as a potential thing to climb on/mess with haha Pic attached, F2 savannah cat and Bowers & Wilkens 600 series speakers for scale

So far, so good. TV is up and running. It is an addition to a tv purchased in 2007 from Best Buy. Picture appears to be as good as the Samsung. (LN46A750R1FXZA) The cost for this TV was a bit less than we paid for the Samsung 14 yrs. ago. Hoping this one lasts as well. We haven't had much opportunity to watch yet. It was purchased to have a second, as well as larger TV, for when we both don't want to watch the same thing. Colors seem a lot brighter. (Seems to me there was a way to tone it down a bit.) It is connected to a receiver and three different DVD players. One player is a VCR combo. We tried a VHS tape. Picture for VHS is passable although not great. Looking forward to watching a movie. Purchase was the result of 6 months of research. Hope all goes well. We use a ROKU so I really can't comment on built in apps. Will explore other features as we go along. Gave it good ratings but don't really know if it is good quality or value. Will update review when I know more.

Bought my first TV back in 2009. It was a 42” LG and it was still going strong, but I was finally ready to upgrade to something bigger. I went back and forth about spending this much money on a TV, but the picture quality in the store ultimately won me over. Now that it’s here I’m still in love. It’s such a huge difference from my old TV. I feel like I can see people’s pores as if they’re right in front of me lol. I have a small living room, so this 65” definitely feels like a theatre experience. As for putting it together. . Thank God for YouTube because I was lost. The base is really heavy.. the tv and the base combined are pretty heavy. There was no way I could lift it myself to put on the stand. It’s super thin and I agree with others that I was nervous while putting everything together. I’m still trying to figure out how to do a few things like change my screensaver.. but overall I’m so glad I went for it and got this. It was worth it.

I bought this after going back and fourth on the highly rated LG C9 and the CX. I'm glad I got the CX!! Better Technology for gaming and gen 3 AI processor. This TV puts my 4K Samsung QLED to Shame! I can't imagine anyone buying this product and being disappointed. It has the best most realistic picture I have ever seen in my life! It is MORE than bright enough!! OLED is a far superior choice to QLED. I don't care what anyone says. Even better than the 8K QLEDS. Don't think twice. Buy an OLED unless you have it literally in a sun room.

Phenomenal TV for gaming or watching movies! This TV is the total package and I'm really mad it took me this long to pick up an OLED. I couldn't recommend this TV enough. The only gripe I have is related to the remote controller and the user interface. I'm sure I'll get used to it after a while, I'm just used to Samsung TVs. For gaming on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, this TV is like a cheat code! It's incredibly responsive and the picture quality is second to none. This is a must own if you have a next gen console and it's totally worth the money as this TV is virtually future proof since it has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports and all of the high end software you would want in an upper tier OLED TV with a paper thin display.

Waited a longtime to make a TV change. I have been using a plasma for the last 10years and had not upgraded because of motion issues. Any LCD or form of LCD that has come out in the last 10 years I could not watch for more then five min because of motion issue. After finally pulling the trigger and moving from plasma to OLED I could not be happier. First off no motion issues and the picture is as smooth as the plasma. Second moving up to 4K UHD from 1080p HD has been great. The LG CX is great at dealing with older content and upscaling the 720p / 1080p to 4K for this screen. With the new update to the firmware to enable all ports to run 2.1 HDMI @ 48Gbps you can't go wrong. This TV is ready for today and tomorrow as well. The built in Smart webOS is a great change and really easy to use. I was a little reluctant on moving over to the magic remote that comes with the LG TV's. I was not sure about the Wii style remote with a cursor on the screen. The remote also lets you use the basic up/down/left/right as well but I found the cursor on the screen with the Wii style to work really well.
