Stunning!
Posted .Out of the gate the tv is packed with features from Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision HDR, HDR 10 ,4 hdmi, 3 usb, Bluetooth,WiFi, web browser, Amazon Alexa compatible and Google Assistant and on and on. I mean for this price point it definitely isn’t missing any features. Starting with sound, depending on what you’re watching and the profile you’re using, it sounds like you’re using a sound bar and not the tv. It really is that good, especially being from a tv with built in speakers and not a separate set. The voice assistant feature for the the remote is nice , though I really don’t use it much it works good. I used to not be a fan of the LG magic remote, but really do like this one a lot. Picture quality is truly breathtaking when you watch something in 4K or even when it’s not in 4K. I have an Xbox one x and games are just crazy, Forza literally feels like you’re in it the picture is that good. You can spend less and you can spend more and step up to oled, but this tv is in the sweet spot to me. It’s packed with features, thin and has a picture quality that is incredible for a price that doesn’t break the bank. If I could give it six stars I would, I truly don’t think you can go wrong with this tv no matter what you’ll be using it for. I absolutely love mine!

Premium 4K TV for a budget price
Posted .I bought this LG TV on sale during Black Friday for under $900 and it’s worth every penny. I use this TV in my bedroom with Spectrum cable, the Apple TV 4K, and the Roku Ultra to watch movies and sports and the picture looks great with every format...including cable even though cable maxes out at 1080i. LG and Samsung make the best TV’s but LG streams in Dolby Vision which is a higher quality than HDR. I’ll list pros and cons to provide a fair and balanced review. Pros: -Streams in HDR or Dolby Vision. That’s a feature Samsung TV’s can’t match. - Audio streams in Dolby Atmos. When you connect a soundbar you are getting the highest quality audio to go along with streaming in the highest quality video settings. - Web Os runs smooth and the TV apps like Netflix and YouTube run smooth without any issues. A software update took less than one minute. - This TV checks every box. LG makes the best TV’s, the picture quality is great, the audio quality is great, it’s under $1,000, and you can stream content or play video games on the highest settings. Cons: - Out of the box you won’t get the best possible picture and there is lots of fine tuning and adjustments needed. I had my TV delivered at setup by the Geek Squad. To get the Apple TV and Roku to stream on the highest settings it took some fine tuning that most people won’t do setting up their own TV. Be sure to check the HDMI settings because by default the 4K HDR needs to be adjusted for some reason. - LG has Dolby Vision and that’s something Samsung doesn’t offer but Samsung 4K TV’s have gaming mode to reduce motion blur and LG TV’s don’t have that feature. Something to think about if you are a heavy gamer. Bottom line...this is a 5 star TV once it’s tuned and set up right. LG has earned their reputation for making the best TV’s because the picture quality, image details, and natural colors are top of the line. I’d highly recommend this TV to family and friends with no hesitation.

Big screen, tiny bezels!
Posted .This TV fits perfectly for my living room setup, the ultra-thin bezels make the set disappear into the background bringing a better focus on what's on the screen instead of what's around the screen. Sharp, clear, accurate picture with deep blacks that will leave you impressed! The smart features are easy to set up and use, the included remote works as a cursor on the screen for point and click functionality. One of the easiest TVs to set up and use I've ever experienced! The base can be a hassle if you don't have room to lay the set down but, if you can, move some furniture before opening to box to leave plenty of work room. Overall, fantastic set for sports and movies! Highly recommended!

The picture quality is amazing and the features are great and easy to use. The magic remote alone makes this TV a great deal.

Like looking out a window
|Posted .I was in the market to buy a TV for some time to upgrade my 50in and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I did my research and made sure to buy one that had HDR as that's where the new technology is going as well as 240 motion rate which is really 120 because 240 doesn't exist yet. I could not see any motion blur at all and when paired with a 4K Blu-ray player you're going to feel like you opened up your window and took a peek outside. This TV also has a really nice remote which is a bonus for me since I didn't know it has the ability to act as a pointer as well as it a voice search. The BestBuy staff were helpful & it's the reason I keep going back for more of my tech there. On a large purchase like this I would advise signing up for the Best Buy card and rake up the points

Great TV
|Posted .Man I shopped a lot for my forte 4k TV and this is the one I landed on. There were a lot of great options out there and honestly I'm sure this one is on line with a lot of others. I bought it right before Black Friday because they had a good sale on it and I'm very pleased. The big thing i needed was a base that was not connected to the very edges of the screen since the stand I have it on is a little smaller. This stand worked out perfect. It has plenty of HDMI ports and that is super important. I dont get many 4k channels but man when you watch something in 4k it's amazing. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Q: QuestionWhat is this model lacking as compared to the more expensive 9000?
Asked by NormTV.
- A:Answer I believe the main difference is that the 8000 is an edge-lit display and the 9000 is a back-lit display.

Q: Questionwhat is the differance between a full range display and a standard display is that the only differance between both models
Asked by Pete.
- A:Answer Local dimming is a feature on LED TVs that dims the backlight behind parts of the screen that are displaying black. This makes blacks appear deeper and darker on those parts of the screen, which can be a big bonus for people who watch videos with darker scenes, like movies and TV shows. Full-array Using Local Dimming: These are very similar to the way LCD TVs were configured but instead of using the CCFL backlight, they use LED backlights instead. The term‚ “full-array” simply means that the LEDs cover the entire backside of the LCD panel. Q: QuestionOne reviewer mentioned the viewing angle deteriorates significantly if the TV is mounted above seating level. Anyone else experiencing this?
Asked by Muddy.
- A:Answer Yep! The blacks really go grey when lying down on our couch but look great standing up right in front of it.

Q: Questioncan we turn off the local dimming function?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It can be disabled under picture settings, improves the quality a lot. One thing I realized though is that it needs to not only be turned off for each HDMI port but also when you change the picture type. I.e switching from game mode to standard you would need to turn off local dimming.

Q: QuestionDoes anyone know if the optical out is able to output whatever audio input the TV receives? I want to hook this to a Bose sound bar and want to make sure it receives the true output from whatever source I put in the TV.
Asked by BGM.
- A:Answer The Optical Digital Audio Output on the LG SK8000PUA 4K HDR Smart LED SUPER UHD TV w/ AI ThinQ® - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # 65SK8000PUA or on any device using the Optical Digital Audio Port can pass multi-channel audio like Dolby Digital. The types of digital audio signals that can be transferred by a digital optical connection include two-channel stereo PCM, Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital EX, DTS Digital Surround, and DTS ES. Digital audio signals, such as 5.1/7.1 multi-channel PCM, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS:X, and Auro 3D Audio cannot be transferred via Digital Optical connections. These formats require HDMI connections. When the digital optical connection was developed, it was made to comply with the digital audio standards at the time (mainly 2-channel CD playback), which did not include 5.1/7.1 channel PCM, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD Master Audio, or DTS:X. In other words, digital optical cables do not have the bandwidth capacity to handle some of the newer home theater surround sound formats...^IFV
