Great phone for the (sale) price.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds a bit harsh, suggesting that the phone isn't valuable at its MSRP, but it's obviously a much better deal when you can score one for under $600. I got this in exchange for a Samsung Galaxy S9+. Can't say my complaints with the latter have been resolved, but I can say the LG G8 ThinQ took the nice things I liked about the S9+ and lifted them to higher levels. Both have headphone ports, but the G8 ThinQ offers exceptional performance with the Quad-DAC. What's a Quad-DAC? It's four DACs. What is a DAC? It measn digital-to-analog converter; a piece of equipment designed to tell your headphones/speakers what to do. Having four of them in a phone like this allows for driving more demanding headphones, like a pair of Sennheiser HD 650. I care enough about listening to music to appreciate what the LG G8 ThinQ has to offer. The cameras are pretty good and I enjoy having an ultra-wide camera to fit more in the frame. It's versatile, and I wish the US had gotten the same model as South Korea, since the latter features an extra telephoto camera, giving users a three-camera array for total versatility. The screen is great but my original unit had discoloration. LG was prompt to have me ship the device to their Fort Worth, TX facility, where they replaced the screen free-of-charge. This brings me to another great thing about this phone: it's backed by the LG Second Year Promise. Once you get this phone, if you decide to keep it, register within 90 days with proof of purchase and LG will extend your warranty by one year. The design is pretty neat. The cameras sit flush with the glass back so the phone doesn't wobble on a table. That said, it can get pretty slippery. The unlocked model comes with a clear case in the box. So, if you're not planning on buying a third-party one, use the incouded case for some peace of mind. Given that the phone sits flat on a table, the phone has a cool feature whereby it amplifies the sound once you set it down. It's not a miracle transformation, but noticeable around 70% volume. The ear piece isn't an actual loudspeaker; instead, it's an actuator that sits behind the display and vibrates to produce sound. Phone calls sound good and loud. I appreciate the microSD card slot because nothing's better than afforable memory expansion. I've noticed that wireless charging is not that fast, at least compared to what Samdung had to offer. Nonetheless, it's nice to have it supported, and fast wired charging is a nice touch. I don't know if I'm covering enough grounds here. I'm typing this review on the phone itself (used my backup to take the picture displayed in my review). Thanks for taking the time to read. Hope you enjoy this phone as much as I do.

Very affordable.. extremely well built
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wrestled around trying to figure out which phone I was going to go with for the last 2 months. I was even driving my friend's nuts I was on the phone and tablet in front of them reviewing every single piece of information I could. A couple of my friends told me I needed to go with iPhone, a couple said Android. I am an Android person through and through. I did not realize how well I was going to love this phone until it arrived on my doorstep today. I knew I had made the correct choice when I open the box. The headphones are very high-quality, a quick charger 3.0 with a quick charging cable, and even a case. The only thing I would recommend is to definitely get an OtterBox or order one like I did.. the bolt series made by zizo. this phone is quick, the operating system is very smooth, the graphics are amazing, you can put the whole phone in dark mode, it's a wireless charging phone. The battery life on it is phenomenal. This is my dream phone, and, I haven't had one this nice since the Samsung S7 active. You will not be disappointed by this piece of equipment. Also, I was so surprised that it was $300 less then the original price.

Excellent phone! Very happy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just want to say I adore this phone. I have had it for a little over a week and it's super! The tech reviewers are way too overly critical and biased. I've seen mostly positive reviews from regular people. I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S8 and like this phone a lot more. I did own an LG G6 for a week a couple years ago and returned it because it would not pair with handsfreelink on my Honda. The G8 pairs perfectly. I also owned an S9 for a week before returning it for the G8. LG G8 has a flat screen, yay! Very nice to look at. The phone is big, but not a giant. Feels fine for my medium sized hands and I can reasonably use it one handed, no problem. It's not heavy either. I had a Huawei Mate 9 for a few months and had to give it to my husband because it was just a bit too wide and heavy. Hurt my hands. LG G8 is just right. Sound is good. I think the S9 sounded a little better. The boom box speaker on the G8 is neat, I like that there's a good quality headphone jack with the G8, too. DTS-X is helpful (helps sound quality.) The sound is excellent over Bluetooth. The screen speaker thing is alright. I don't love or hate it. It's practical in keeping the speaker protected under the screen and I guess it gets a bit louder because they say it's bigger. No issues with calls. I can hear everyone well. The speakers also get plenty loud for audio. Much better than my S8. My speaker phone works well, unlike with my S8. It's nice to see it's actually manufactured in S. Korea instead of China(Samsung.) It seem really solid and I would recommend it to anyone. The cameras are really nice and definitely seem like an upgrade to my S8. Prefer the pics to the S9 as well. The wide angle camera is really useful. It looks more natural than the one offered on the S10. Selfie cam is decent. Comparable or better than my S8 and the S9. It has some little features that I appreciate: parking finder - noting where you parked your car, optimized charging to protect the life of your battery will charge slower if you charge mostly overnight like me. Battery life on 1080p/FHD is really good. I can get as much as 7-8 hrs of SOT consistently. Not something I normally do, but I like to really test my phones before the return window closes. My S8 and S9 only got to 4-6 hrs SOT with similar usage. Today I was on my phone much more than usual and got 6 hrs SOT (screen on time) at 50% battery left over wifi. I was on my phone off and on since 8:30 am and that was at 3:45pm. The 2 year LG G8 warranty is a selling point. You have to register for the second year after purchase. They limit the size of the pictures you can upload, so I screenshoted a couple to give you an idea. I love my LG G8.

This phone is great for speed and dim pictures!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like how fast this phone processes on multiple memory draining apps I use on a daily basis. I also like how the camera takes decent pictures in dim lighting. And I have noticed that you can boost the volume of your phone call to where you don't need to have it on your face to communicate if you choose not to. The only thing that needs more work is the air control feature, it might detect my hand gestures 50% of the time. It worked better indoors for me. But my personal reasons for getting this phone was the speed, long battery life and picture quality more than the air motion and speaker feature. It fit my needs very well so its a great phone! I also appreciate that it came with a clear phone case and nice ear buds too, that was a plus!!

It's good but,
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this when it was half price so great deal. Its fast, not bloated as unlocked. Battery seems to last for me for a few days but I know I barely use my phone compared to most people. My only issue, sound. Its not great. Compared to others its ok but compared to my last phone (htc one m9), sound is junk. I get everyone has earbuds, but I hate them and don't use my phone for music and vids in public. Oh and no txt reminders. Verizon still charges upgrade fee on your bill now. Last time I could get away without the fee by buying unlocked.

Fantastic phone at current price
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Clean UI, love the sound from both the AMOLED speaker (so cool!) and especially the headphone jack. Google Assistant button is handy, face and fingerprint unlock both work well. Camera is competitive with my former Pixel 2. The 2 year warranty can't be beat. If you're looking for a solid Android phone at a good price that isn't like an anchor in your purse or pocket, give this one a long look.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great phone from lg. I'm not a fan of Samsung and I don't see myself ever using apple so this was a great option for me. I've loved the phone so far it's got an awesome design and a nice battery life. The camera has lots of options to get the perfect pic in any situation.
