The design of these earbuds and the case is as good as any other out there. Wireless charging works great but make sure that you have the case placed correctly on your charger. The size of the case is really nice and not bulky, but if you don't set it correctly on the upright chargers built for phones, the small size is a disadvantage. The magnet that holds the earbuds in the case is nice and strong so they snap right in. Charging time for both the earbuds and the case is super fast. I haven't even really had a chance to drain all of the batteries because the battery life is great and they charge so fast, it seems like it would be difficult to completely end up with zero battery. I haven't heard any complaints about call quality and it seems like the dual microphones work as they are designed. One problem I haven't had with these, that I have with others, is the earbuds being slightly out of sync, so there is an echo effect. These seem to stay in good sync for calls as well as playing music. The sound quality for music, by the way, is quite good. Here's the downside: The Tone Free app is decent as far as pairing and setup, but the audio adjustments really don't make a meaningful difference. The biggest detractor is the ambient sound mode and it really needs to be fixed. With any level of ambient "ON" there is a really terrible tin can effect and LG is way behind competitors. In my experience, ambient sound should include the things that you want and need to hear, but the audible noise is like having constant static in your ears. The other poor design are the touch buttons on the earbuds. They are incredibly easy to hit accidentally with the buttons turned on. Turned off, there is no functionality, so it's lose-lose. Overall, these are good for the money and will work for everything from the office, to the gym. If you don't need the highest quality ambient mode, they are a good buy. Read less

My son's Airpods recently broke, and since I just received these LG HBS-FN5W earbuds, I gave it to him to use. For those with teenage kids, we know they get a ton more usage as they are always on their phone. I interviewed my son on what he thought about the LG earbuds and here is his feedback. After the initial charge, I paired it to my iPhone which was very straightforward and easy. I asked him how comfortable the earbuds fit in his ears, and he said they are very comfortable. I can see that because he has it in his ears quite a bit. The earbuds come with three different-sized ear gels: he found the smallest ear gel to be the most comfortable. I asked him how long do the earbuds last on one charge, and he said they last a long time though he told me he really haven't 'measured how long they last'. He told me he has been able to re-charge his earbuds using the charging case three to four times before he needs to recharge the case itself. Based on LG's specs, I can infer he hasn't let his earbuds fully drain before recharging. Most importantly, he told me the sound quality is very good and is at least as good as his previous set. He has tried the ambient sound mode and said it works whereby he can hear our conversation in ambient mode. Ambient sound mode allows a listener to be able to hear their surroundings as opposed to just hearing what is playing on the earbuds. Overall, he really likes his LG earbuds. The case is compact and light. You can charge the case and earbuds via a supplied USB-C cable which allows for very fast charging. Or you can charge wirelessly too though he hasn't tried that. I asked him if he would recommend the LG earbuds, and he gave me a 'two-thumbs up' sign.

This is my first really nice pair of ear buds that I have owned, I got tired of cheap ones that stop charging after a month or have horrible sound quality. One of my favorite features of the LG Tone Free Wireless Earbuds is how crisp and clear the sound is, especially the bass. The ambient sound is a nice feature that I am still getting used to. It picks up my supervisors on the handheld radio at work when I normally could not hear him with other earphones. The music plays with deep, crisp bass and sounds great. I like that when I work an 11-hour shift, I can either use both and the charge lasts about 2/3 of my shift. If I just use one, I can switch it out when I need to charge it and not have to worry about it. I have tried many different earbuds, but the clarity of the phone calls on this is excellent and way better than any other ones I have used. I don’t have to ask the person on the call to repeat themselves or talk over a background noise. The charging case is convenient and small enough to fit in my pocket comfortably. They feel comfy in my ear and don’t get annoying after a few hours of wearing them. They are IPX4 rated which means they are sweat and water resistant, this is a major bonus. I am really impressed with these earbuds! I received the product at a discount in exchange for my honest feedback.
