If you're wanting Shield, this isn't your type of cop show. There's not a lot of guns going off. If you want something smarter, Life's a great recommendation. It's like The Closer. Great commentary and great characters. Charlie Crews was a good cop before he got framed for murders he didn't commit. After serving twelve years where he was brutalized by his fellow inmates, he's finally back outside - and he's still a good cop. He's saddled with another Detective Dani Reese who's not on the Department's A list. She's got her own issues she deals with. Her one job is to keep Crews out of trouble and out of the Dept's hair. The story's a great big jigsaw puzzle. Each episode puts you one step closer to finding out the real truth behind the murders Charlie was framed for. Charlie has a different outlook due to his time in prison. He used zen to keep himself sane in an insane environment. Now he uses it to keep himself focused on what the real truth is when dealing with cases and his search for answers he's been waiting for 12 years to find.
