Friday night in Birmingham!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stage announcer Todd Fisher invites the fans in Birmingham, England, to make it loud because they were recording the concert for a live album. The result is Uriah Heep Live, a great look at the band at what is arguably their height. They get the guitars, voices, and Moogs tuned and then open with a kinda crunchy version of their hit "Sunrise," then segue into "a party song for rock and roll...Sweet Lorraine." More and better comes with "Gypsy," "Traveler in Time," "The Magician's Birthday," and a really excellent medley of "Roll Over Beethoven," Blue Suede Shoes," and other 50s favs. Production is pretty good as well, possibly better than the folks in Birmingham heard that night, though none of the live feel is lost. Byron, Box, Hensley, Kerslake, and Thain were all ON that night; Uriah Heep Live shows why they were one of the best hard rock-heavy metal-prog bands of their time.

Live Uriah Heep at their pinnacle best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bonus tracks deliver the goods on this 2 CD live Heep 2nd disc is from a US radio show and film mixes that were used for radio broadcast Another great rock 'n' roll medley at the end. This is the one with the best lineup in the history of this English prog-rock band. Good sound quality, intricate arrangements, and great musicianship from their peak of prowess in '73. Now its on to the super deluxe edition of Uriah Heep Live! But that one will cost you a pretty penny!
