My Perfect Keyboard
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm giving this a 5 star even though I need to return it. One of the keys came lose, or rather, was probably defective before I even opened the box. That being said, I use this keyboard at work and at home. Both my work and home keyboards have lasted 10 years now so overall this keyboard passes the durability test. After 10 years, my most used keys are worn off and the backlight shines through where the paint used to be. I just switched jobs and was relieved that after all this time, this model was still available so I bought one for use at my new job. That's how much I like this keyboard. Light presses and short throws feel perfect and I can bang on it when I feel like it and it makes a very gratifying sound. The physical profile of the keyboard is also very good, thin with a perfectly designed wrist wrest. Buy hey, keyboards are subjective right? You probably won't know if you like this keyboard until you buy one. I think over time the price has come down quite a bit on these. The current prices seem really fair to me.

Excellent quiet keyboard
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent keyboard, very quiet when hitting the keys. If you want that clicky sound, then this one is not for you. I'm able to type for hours around someone sleeping, and they never hear me. The keyboard is excellent quality, and I've not had one issue with it. Highly recommended.

Logitech - K740 Illuminated Keyboard - Black
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A straightforward, elegantly-designed, rectangular and wired keyboard with backlit keys so you can see what the computer buttons are that you want to depress when you're typing in a darkened room. I decided I wanted a wired keyboard -- since wireless keyboards are more fragile in comparison, and, wireless keyboards that have backlit keys will drain their rechargeable or removable batteries much too quickly. Thus, I settled for a wired one that's, "low maintenance." And if you're looking for a keyboard with multiple colors and wild housing designs to appeal to the eyes and minds of gamers from ages 10 to 17, this isn't the keyboard for you. All the alphanumerics are backlit with white L.E.D.s. -- looks more professional, more elegant (and in my opinion, it's more appealing to practical-minded adults) to keep the color scheme limited and consistent for its backlit design. The alphanumerics themselves are laser-etched for a precision appearance. All the keys have a shallow depth and a responsive, light touch with a near-muted, click-tactile feedback for ergonomic finger strikes; they're part and parcel to its overall low profile. Like a lot of electrically-powered backlit keyboards -- don't get it wet -- otherwise, keys simply won't respond for shorting it out. (If this keyboard was waterproof I would have rated it with the full five stars). Function keys on the top row are either software-programmable, or they have preset functions enabled via the same software. Even if you didn't use the keyboard's software that comes with it, Windows recognizes it as a standard keyboard device anyway, and it starts working as soon as you plug it into any viable USB port. A nice, clean, fast feature are its manual adjustments for key brightness and sound volume, and these four keys are located in one row in the upper right corner. After I wore out the first keyboard after using it for several years (I shorted out the backlighting of a few keys for accidentally spilling drinks on it over the years), I decided that this keyboard was good enough for me to purchase this exact same model, again ...and I did just that.

We love this keyboard
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We previously has a wireless keyboard that came with out computer. It would lag sometimes and was also hard to see at night. This new keyboard is fast, ultra quiet and is also backlit. It is wired but that doesn't seem to be an issue with our setup.

And Let There Be Light!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The keyboard is out of the box amazing. The first thing you will notice about it is the great design, how thin it is, and it actually has weight to it at 14 lbs. The design is unlike the others that I saw in the store. The clear plastic around the keyboard adds a uniqueness to it that I find rare. Also it is remarkably thin at around 1" without the bottom stands lifted. I like the fact that it's quiet (except for the space bar) thanks to the PerfectStroke™ key system, I am able to type into the night without the clicking sounds that my other keyboards made. Now the illuminated part is what sets it over the top. It makes it easy to concentrate on the keys weather you are a beginner or an experienced typer day or night. Also the fact that it does have four settings: -off-dim-medium-bright lets me choose the level of brightness that suits my needs. Furthermore, the Logitech - Illuminated Keyboard is on the high end side and a little pricey but, if you are willing to pay the $79.99 dollars it is on now. Consider it money well spent.

All I want in a backlit keyboard
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Going from a laptop back to a desktop computer, I needed a keyboard. My laptop has a backlit keyboard, and I have really come to appreciate that, so that feature was a must-have. At the same time, I knew I didn't want a wireless keyboard, because I certainly don't feel like juggling any more batteries. I am not a gamer, so I don't need extra functionality or multiple color zones. This keyboard sits firmly on my PVC desk pad without sliding. The keys themselves, and the edgy characters on them, give it a bit of a "stretched-width," bulky look and feel. My eyes somehow don't take to the design that easily. But that may be a matter of taste. The backlit part is what distinguishes this keyboard, in my opinion. It can be set to high, medium, low, or off, and other than doing its job, it is inconspicuous. So if you, too, favor a backlit but otherwise no-frills wired keyboard, this one is a ready option.

Love the feel of this keyboard
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Due to constant disinfecting and the reapplication of lotion throughout the day, I end up rubbing off the painted-on letters and numbers of keyboards. They end up looking worn and dirty so this time I opted for a backlit keyboard in hopes I couldn't rub off the keys. I immediately fell in love with the feel of this keyboard. The keystrokes remind me of my laptops and offer a smooth crisp feel. My previous keyboard was also a Logitech but it felt like a clunky old-fashioned model compared to this one despite it being less than 1.5 years old. I wish I had switched long ago. The backlit keys are a great feature and it works as well as others I've tried. Overall I would highly recommend this keyboard. I also don't mind that it's not wireless because I don't have to worry about constantly charging or replacing batteries.

Q: Questionwill the keyboard work with Windows 10
Asked by Byron.
- A:Answer Yes, of course. This keyboard will work with most any computer with a USB connection. The fact that it's illuminated does not matter to a pc. By the way. this Logitech keyboard has a brighter light function than the previous model that my Wife and I both used. I think that all keyboards should have a lighted option. Our keyboards are on slide-out drawers under our desk surfaces, so are shadowed from overhead lighting, so having lit keys are necessary for us. Operating system doesn't matter either.

Q: QuestionLumination is not working? Is there a battery that keeps it lit? Thank you!
Asked by Smiley.
- A:Answer The Logitech K740 wired keyboard does not have a battery. It is powered by your computer's usb port. Is the brightness adjustment key not working? It is located on the the upper right hand side of the keyboard. You can press the button multiple times to adjust brightness or turn off the backlight. There are three levels of brightness. I attached a the page from the owners manual and a photo of my keyboard so that you can see where it is located. If this does not work, try unplugging and plugging the keyboard into a different usb port. Good luck!

Q: QuestionI like the Keyboard -- however, not everyone is as knowledgeable as some people. I had trouble figuring out what some of the keys do -- I'm not a professional, just an older person using a computer. Could have used more instructions on using the keys.
Asked by Notenoughinstructions.
- A:Answer The key at the bottom left with the windows logo will get you to the windows menu. The orange FN key on the opposite side when pressed in conjunction with the keys at the top will activate the keys with the orange on them. Those are hot keys that can get you to your mail, magnifier, music etc more quickly. Those are probably the keys you are talking about. Hope that helps.
