A great purchase for the dollar
Posted .The mouse has a sleek design that provides for a very comfortable feel and a series of buttons and scroll wheel. The scroll wheel can work as a click style or a flip style, or as they call it “Hyper fast Scrolling”. Using the software included with the mouse a user is able to set the mouse to either automatically switch settings or by pressing the wheel down switch manually. It took me a little bit of time to fine tune the automatic switch settings. The SetPoint software that comes with the mouse is helpful. With the software you are able to customize all of the buttons and wheels to work in different ways. This mouse is comfortable and customizable making working with windows an awesome experience.

The Mouse Revolution
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe Logitech – MX Revolution is what the name of the product is: a revolution. Its sleek design provides for a very comfortable feel complemented with a myriad of buttons and scroll wheels…well one “flick” wheel and another scroll wheel that acts like two. To start this review with a bang lets talk about the “MicroGear” scroll wheel that lives between the left and the right button. This scroll wheel can work as a click style or a flip style, or as they call it “Hyper fast Scrolling”. Using the software included with the mouse a user is able to set the mouse to either automatically switch settings or by pressing the wheel down switch manually. This took me a little bit of time to fine tune the automatic switch settings. Using 3DS Max and Maya I need to have that middle button function as a middle button but for reviews purpose I decided to try out the manual functionality and I thought it worked well. Three additional buttons, excluding the standard left and right mouse buttons, are conveniently placed for easy access. Two are on the side of the mouse, default to Back and Forward for Internet Explorer and windows Explorer, and a search button is located just under the scroll wheel. All these buttons can be customized to fit your needs using the included drivers. The last “wheel” is, what I call, the flick wheel, being that it doesn’t fully rotate. This wheel is like ALT+Tab but much quicker. Doing a single “flick” of the wheel will bring up Logitech’s open applications window and you can point and click to the application you want to switch to or continue to flick the wheel to your desired application. To wrap the hardware up you have a very precise laser system and a very comfortable body that naturally fits your hand. The box comes with a recharge kit, ala a recharge base, and a small USB wireless receiver. The charge lasts a long time…I use this mouse for work and I only charge it during the weekends. The SetPoint software that comes with the mouse is decent. With the software you are able to customize all of the buttons and wheels to work in different ways, a very nice feature. As I stated earlier the SmartShift (auto switching the scroll wheel) takes a little bit of time to customize, if you’re finicky like I am, but you can get it to match your style. Pros: Everything but the price. This mouse is comfortable and customizable making working with windows or apple a very enjoyable experience. Cons: The price is high but “you get what you pay for”. I bought this mouse when it was first released and it was much more than $99.99. Another down side is the fact that it’s a very right handed mouse. $99.99 does feel a bit much to pony up for this mouse but its well worth it. Buying a nice mouse, keyboard and monitor can change any computer experience to a much better one and its always nice to pamper yourself in the process. A definite recommendation to everybody, but left handed people; 5 out of 5.

Okay but way overpriced.
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendI've had this mouse for over a week now, sadly it's been discharged twice in that weeks time, where as my regular battery mice, can be used for about 4 to 6 months before the batteries need changing. And this was my fear to buy this mouse, since the battery is not replaceable, once it dies, you have to basically throw away the mouse, there is no way to replace the internal battery. It's not ergonomic, people are confusing design for ergonomics. Just because it give you a place to rest your thumb does not make it ergonomic. If you really need an ergonomic mouse, try the Microsoft Natural 6000 laser mouse, that is ergonomic. The hyper scroll mouse wheel is amazing to say the least, no matter what type of document Im in, I can be at the bottom of that document with a small flick of my finger on the mouse wheel. It's astonishing how long the wheel will continue to roll if you let it, you can just feel it in the mouse body when holding it lightly that when the wheel is still turning. The custom search button is a nice novelty, I've used it about 2 times so far, both times to just start up a new browser window with my home page since my home page is also set to google. Honestly though I've tried it once by highlighting a phrase on a document and hit the search button and a new window pops up with the search results from whomever you chose as the search provider. The problem is the placement of that search icon, when you flick the mouse wheel to get through a long document you may find yourself hitting the search button at the same time, it's just bad placement of that button in my opinion. Im not sure who's hand this mouse is supposed to fit, but I've got large hands and it doesn't fit my hands. My right thumb should rest where the thumb scroll sheel is, however it doesn't come close to it, and I have to reposition my hand on the mouse so that I can use it. POINTLESS, option if you have to move your hand around to use the option. Back and forward buttons suffer the same problem, they are really not placed well. and I have to shift my hand to use them. I don't bother. Get YingYangs Internet Explorer mouse gestures and you can move back and forward web pages simply by holding down the right mouse button and moving the mouse to the left for backwards and right for forward. These two buttons are now mapped to the volume since I rarely have to adjust that. If you are into gaming, stop right here, because of the way the hyperscroll wheel has two modes, it's very clunky to have to hold down the middle mouse button in games such as wow or any games that require you to hold down the middle mouse button to change the camera view.

Awesome mouse that's not made very well.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendFirst, let me say that I LOVE this mouse! If not for this fact, I would have given it 3 stars instead of 4. I've used it for about 4 months now and find the following to be true: It holds a charge really well as I use it at work and am on it at least 8-10 hours a day streight almost everyday. It's extremely comfortable in my hand. The buttons are nice and responsive and the tracking is precise. The functions are very convienient with being able to browse web pages with the short cut buttons and moving between different applications on the desktop really helps speed things up! However, there are some issues that need to be addressed: For a $100 mouse interface that is used as much as the keyboard, the finish is really cheap. The black finish on the right side of my mouse has mostly worn off to the point that it looks really bad. It appears to be some kind of silicone that was painted on. Felt nice to the touch initially but now that most of it is peeled, rubbed, and scratched off it it just looks REALLY bad. Also the buttons, while adding really nice features, are located on the mouse in places where I accidentally bump them when I grab the mouse. Ya kind of have to mount the mouse with your hand carefully or you can inadvertantly activate something. Not a big deal but can be irritating at times. Otherwise, it's a great mouse!

Awesome mouse!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI got this mouse to replace my old MX1000, which I loved. It was a great mouse, but this MX Revolution really takes it to the next level. It has an amazing scroll wheel that senses the type of document your in and adjusts automatically to your preferences. The side wheel is convenient shortcut to Windows Aero for switching documents or programs. The quick search, back and forward buttons also work nicely. The scroll wheel doubles a middle button which is programmable as many different features but I use it as an actual middle button which is essential if you use Autocad. It is well made and feels very comfortable to my hand. The only problem I have is the same reason I had to replace my old mouse, a non-replaceable battery. My old mouse lasted about four years before the rechargeable battery wouldn't hold a charge long enough to be functional. It would be a great improvement if the battery could be replaced to extend the life and value of this mouse. Overall it is an awesome mouse and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a feature packed, customizable mouse.

I love this mouse
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSo yeah, not long after I puchased my notebook pc I needed a mouse... Long story short I found this. So I buy It... So far it still is awsome, I love it. The battery life is long enough to do what you do, ot only do i use this for business (web design/Flash) I'm also a PC gamer so it has to work. The software that comes with has settings to customize every button and has this accelerator thing that makes it go faster the longer you move it (this is perfect for the tanks in Battlefield 2... they turn so slow with a normal mouse). The mouse is still in great condition and I've had it for a long time. BUT, there are two things: The grip on the left side of the mouse wears off (exspecialy if you have long nails) but i consider it a good thing because sometimes my thumb would slip and hit the 2nd scroll wheel and mess things up... The other thing is pushing the scroll wheel side to side acts as a button, Its was a life saver in BF2 (literaly it it was the defibulator button lol...) but eventually it stoped work, I dont know if it got worn out or if I droped dropped it to many times lol. Anyway I would go for it, if you can afford it of couse don't buy anything out of your budget...

Awsome... most of the time!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI LOVE this mouse! I'm buying a second one for use at home, and a third one for my wife (not necessarily in that order)! I review LOTS of long documents at work. Scrolling through massive amounts of documentation using the wheel in free-spin mode increases productivity, and reduces the workload on my fingers tremendously! And clicking the wheel toggles click-by-click scrolling when needed. I've set-up the wheel so that tilting the wheel left or right tabs between documents (e.g. tabbed browsing in Firefox) - I don't have to put my coffee down to simulate CTRL-TAB! I also use the side button to simulate ALT-TAB. When working in SOME applications, the spinning mode works in a downward direction, but not up. Since this only happens in specific applications, I'd say it's a problem with the application, and not the mouse. When working with applications inside VMWare, the above problem is almost always present. So, I set the "default mode" for VMWare to click-by-click. IF free-spin happens to work, a simple click of the wheel puts me in free-spin mode.

Great Mouse!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSo I dropped the bill on this mouse after trying many other optical and laser mouses. None of them quite fit the bill for me - incompatibilities with software, lame drivers, etc. So I decided to try the MX Revo and all I can say is WOW! PROS: First let me say I love the feel of this mouse. It just feels like it's built well. Some complain about the "looseness" of the scroll wheel - well that's because of the nature of the microgear mechanism. Personally it doesn't bother me and I actually like that it has a little give and in my opinion still feels like it's made well. Speaking of the Microgear scroll wheel you seriously have to use it to appreciate it. Now whenever I go to a different computer I REALLY miss my mouse. It makes scrolling even just an average website so much faster. I have had zero issues with the scroll wheel. Customizability. In two words: Awesome. Software. All the other mouses I tried none were even close to being this customizable. Microsoft Intellipoint was the closest but doesn't hold a candle in my opinion. I've got multiple keystrokes and such set up for my media player (Winamp) and different settings for Firefox, etc. I've seen reviews that complain about no middle-click (default is to change Microgear function) but you can set that in the software as well. CONS: Every once in a while (not even every day) my mouse suffers glitchy connection with it's usb receiver and I get jumpy movements. I think that my computer is doing something funky at the time. I haven't honestly tried to troubleshoot it because it has been very intermittent and not really too much of an issue. Also I've noticed that sometimes my program-specific settings (for scroll speed only) reset for Firefox. I don't know if this is because I occasionally use another mouse and turn the MX Revo off or if it is due to something else, but overall not a huge problem. Bottom line: Great mouse. If you spend a lot of time on the computer and want the program-specific customization I say go for it. The Microgear scroll wheel is what does it for me honestly. I could probably live without the second wheel on the side but it's nice with some programs (have it set for seek in my media player). p.s. - some complain of battery issues but I've had mine something like three weeks and have only had to charge once overnight. Oh, and I use my mouse about 8-10 hours a day. I just turn it off when I'm not using it and recharge at around 20-40% battery left.
